Kid Icarus - NES - 1 player - 500 Wii Points
Ice Climber - NES - 1-2 players - 500 Wii Points
Kirby - NES - 1 player - 500 Wii Points

Kid Icarus is good! And very hard, if I recall correctly. Ice Climber would be good for about five minutes of nostalgic fun, but I'm guessing that's about it. Never played Kirby.

I was hoping Pro Wrestling would make today's all-NES release list.

Question: is there any value in making weekly posts about the new VC releases? I would have just added it to the Wii thread, but I couldn't add a reply after my own message.

FEAR THE EGGPLANT WIZARD

"How could we possibly appreciate the Mona Lisa if Leonardo had written at the bottom of the canvas: 'The lady is smiling because she is hiding a secret from her lover.' This would shackle the viewer to reality, and I don't want this to happen to 2001." - Stanley Kubrick

Yeah, there should be more threads in the video game forum. But the ones I start all end up flopping, so I quit.

Kid Icarus is another one of those games I just never got a chance to play. I always had friends telling me how great it was, but I never picked it up for whatever reason. This will be 500 points well spent.

And yes, keep the threads a'comin'.

when I was younger, we'd brag about who had beaten the hardest video game. I usually trumped everyone with either Kid Icarus or Rush 'n' Attack. Picking up Kid Icarus is a no-brainer.

Well, I think anyone who has followed the Wii threads know how I feel about Kid Icarus FINALLY coming to the VC. Be warned though as the game is very hard, especially the final level. I think I remember using the Game Genie to beat it the first time around.

And yes, please keep doing these threads about the VC if you can. I don't get to the Wii every night/week, but now I'm making a beeline over there very soon.

Kid Icarus and Wii-Play coming out...I love you Nintendo!

I'm still waiting for Blaster Master to be released on the VC. I don't know if it will be, because it was a Sunsoft game and I don't even know if they are still in business.

I don't know if this merits its own thread, but has anyone checked out the new Everybody Votes channel yet? I haven't tried it - I saw there was something this morning, but I left it because I find the blue glow so delightful - but apparently it's a new channel where you get to vote on polls submitted by other users. It sounds so stupid and yet I have a feeling that I'll think it's great.

I tried it out last night. It's a fun little diversion. It will be interesting to see what kinds of poll questions end up getting approved.

Beware though, for some reason it eats up 160 blocks of memory. That's kinda huge for a feature that hasn't proven its usefulness yet.

Man, I downloaded Kid Icarus this morning and, while I remember not being very good at it, I was assuming that it was because I hadn't played it since I was eight. Nope, that fucker is hard.

My hope is that eventually we'll see the Everybody Votes Channel used to gage interest in possible Virtual Console titles. Right now, though, it is crazy pointless.

EDIT: Adding the first paragraph made the second paragraph make no sense, so fix it I did.

UK Virtual Console Releases: February 16, 2007

Excitebike (NES) - 500 points
Kirby's Adventure (NES) - 500 points
New Adventure Island (TurboGrafx) - 600 points
R-Type III: The Third Lightning (SNES) - 800 points
---

Apparently I'll have to start adding region-specific headlines and whatnot.

Anyway, I'd like to state that the British are jerks for getting Excitebike before us. I love Excitebike. I think New Adventure Island is currently a UK-exclusive as well.

According to this site (wii.qj.net) Sunsoft is a VC supporter. I think Sunsoft is still in business in Japan.

I second the Excitebike envy, and pray that it means that we're getting it Monday.

Also, I suck at Kid Icarus. Sad discovery.
