I'm actually pretty shocked by a number of things here. Immediately noticeable is the omission of perennial punching bags Sylvester Stallone and Halle Berry. Stallone I can understand, since Rocky Balboa actually turned out to be decent, but there should have been no excuse for not nominating Berry for Worst Actress, since she stunk up X3 with an inexplicably EXPANDED role.
I'm also somewhat disappointed by the field for Worst Picture. These were bad, but they were nothing compared to the shitpiles that were Date Movie, Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, Garfield 2, and Deck The Halls just to name a few.
And finally, I cry foul at Ron Howard's nomination for Worst Director. I'll admit Da Vinci Code was disappointing, but it wasn't THAT bad.
ULTRAVIOLET should be all over the Razzies. Where the Hell is it?!
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
Wow, Little Man is poised to run through the Razzies, and I think it will. I don't get all the hate for Lady In the Water, well I guess I do but I found the movie to be okay.
Sharon Stone HAS to win for Worst Screen Couple. And Lindsay Lohan should apparently win for Worst Leading Actress. As Richard Roeper says, she even over-acted on the box cover for Just My Luck.

I got a copy of Little Man along with about 100 other recent titles for sale this week, and my girlfriend's daughter wanted to watch it on the weekend. So we popped it in, and I remember asking my girlfriend about 100 times during the movie "how the hell do movies like this get the approval to get made?" Seriously, a movie about a grown up pretending to be a baby, with a full mouth of adult teeth. Right.
Of course, our 12 year old loved it, but she's also deaf so visual comedy works wonders on her.
You know, aside from Shymalan, that's actually a pretty strong group of actors in the supporting male category. Maybe Sir Ben or Cage will win and pull a Halle Berry by showing up Oscar in hand to accept their awards.
I don't know what is more disquieting -- the fact that the rest of the statue is missing, or that it has four toes.
And to think some W's scoffed when I said Lady in the Water was the worst movie I had ever seen, and then a few months later say that WICKER MAN had replaced it.
Kingsley was in BLOODRAYNE for far less screentime than Bosworth had in SR. But then these awards are essentially a bad joke anyway, so debating their credibility seems kinda moot.

I haven't seen Bloodrayne, but I can assure you, Nick Cage was god awful in Wicker Man. WORST performance I have seen in a "real" moving in years.

Outside of Adaptation and MAYBE Gone In 60 Seconds, Nic Cage hasn't impressed me in ANYTHING. He's one of the most overrated actors in Hollywood and he'll prove it again in what's sure to be a Razzie nominee for next year: Ghost Rider.
LEAVING LAS VEGAS, MATCHSTICK MEN, BRINGING OUT THE DEAD, LORD OF WAR, THE WEATHER MAN, FACE/OFF, RAISING ARIZONA...he has a tendency to ham it up occasionally, but Cage is a legit great actor.

I was thinking about the same movies when I read the other quote, although I was going to say overact instead of ham it up, but the thought was the same.
