What an odd episode. I mean.. it was funny, but it seemed much darker than just about any episode thus far.
Andy's little Willa Wonka tribute was pretty funny, the hair salon was funny, and Stanley letting Ryan lead had me rolling. But there was an odd seriousness to the episode that I really wasn't used to.
Dwight getting set up by Andy, and Phylis letting the Pam secret out of the bag while with Karen... those moments weren't as funny as they were "Whoa..." moments.
And I do not want to see either Andy or Karen leave. I think they bring tons of energy to the show. I'm starting to worry that their days are numbered.
Anyway, I still liked the show.... it'll be interesting to see how things progress.
"Oh my God! They have a shit-load of Cockapoo stuff!" -Jennifer's greatest quote... ever.
What I thought was great was all the vets _ Michael, Stanley and Phyllis _ showing the newbies how it was done. Phyllis' hairdo trick was awesome. And Jim and Dwight have such great chemistry _ even when they're working together instead of Jim antagonizing him _ that they have to bring back Dwight. Quickly.
And Angela is going to absolutely, positively, DESTROY Andy.

When the camera focised on Angela during Andy's camera time, but my wife and I said "Oh my, Andy is so dead". I have not looked forward to someones revenge plot more than Angela on Andy EVER. I look forward to her making his life hell and ruining him. If the look she gave Andy was directed at me, I would be scared. Angela by FAR gives the best facial expressions on the show and I look forward to the plot line more than any.
...that motherfucker is always spiked with pain.....
I loved the photo of Dwight and Jim from days past too. I also loved how easily Dwight and Jim worked together and how the whole episode showed how COMPETENT each of the seasoned sales people are. Jim and Dwight were so good together it was scary. At first I thought Dwight was calling Angela, but the whole "on hold" had me smiling. And then Dwight following it up with his numbers, pagers, beepers and the topper "I never take major holidays off" just topped it off.
This show is so good that I sometimes forget it is a show and think the people are real.
Thank God for Thursday nights. Earl, Office, Scrubs and 30 Rock are the only shows on TV that make me laugh and to have them all on in one night make me happy.

Andy really took up to another level on the douche scale last night. That was some grade A ass kissing.
It was cool to get a glimpse of how effective some of the guys are at the job, especially Dwight, who seemed to be screwing up the sale while dialing on the phone ("One" , "Three" , "Seven") but it actually paid off and helped seal the deal. He and Jim are actually a good team. Michael was effective as well, and it gives a (needed) layer to their characters beyond just being idiots.
Add me to the list that want a copy of that old Jim & Dwight picture.
Dean! Have you been shooting dope into your scrotum? You can tell me! I'm hip!
Awesome episode with nice plot and character development. I just love how this show makes me appreciate each & every character and their different habits and mannerisms.
Favorite lines: "You sounded just like my niece, and she's 6 months old!" "I was his second choice after "Pass"."
So is it pretty much consensus that Andy tanked that sale just to use the term, "Pull a Schrute"? If so, wow.
It kind of bothered me that Angela couldn't have stepped up to save her man. Also, why would she have known that Andy had anything to do with Dwight's quitting? Yeah, he's happy, but he would have been celebratory regardless.
Also, from a dramatic standpoint, it gets us to root for Dwight. He's got a weird moral code, but it is absolute. And as important as his job is to him, he'd walk away from it for the woman he loves. Between that and his interactions with Pam last week, we get the feeling he's a good man who isn't quite in touch with the way the rest of the world interacts. This also explains why he and Michael are such a good team.
Also, Jim is going to be very lonely when Pam and Karen talk about this. Did he really say that it was nothing?
I liked seeing Stanley's sense of humor, and pulling his own brand of "prank" on Ryan. But Stanley came off like quite the prick in the drive back to the office.
Also dug Jim completely no-selling Kelly on the phone.

That's the thing that I've always loved about Dwight. He's a wacko, but like you said, he's got a set of rules that he lives by. And it fits perfectly that he'd take the bullet for Angela because how many times has he done that for Michael? Dwight's extremely loyal.
As for Jim, he did say it was nothing at first, but kind of opened up a little bit when he told Karen about Pam shooting him down twice. He didn't tell her the whole story, but just enough to make it interesting.
How this hasn't been mentioned yet is beyond me...
"70% of all attacks happen from the back." "well that just means that there's a 30% chance of me attacking you from the front." Then while Dwight talking about how he could defend himself, Jim pimpslaps him and keeps walking.
And yeah, Phyllis dropping the bombshell on Karen about Pam was great too...definitely a "holy shit" moment.
On another topic, I got the first two seasons of the show on DVD over Christmas, and have caught completely up on season one, and am about to start disc 2 on season two. Even knowing what's going on in the present, I still fully appreciate watching the past episodes, and getting completely caught up.

PROGRAMMING UPDATE: Due to President Bush's 25-minute speech, CBS decided to pull "Grave Danger" from tonight's programming lineup in favor of running two episodes that ran this week on Spike.
