Forgot that Mike Judge's "Idiocracy" came out on DVD yesterday - picked that up and Kim and I watched it last night. This movie has a long, sordid history mostly involving the fact that FOX had trouble figuring out how to create a 30/60 second spot that got across the concept of the movie. It was released in something like seven cities last year after nearly two years of sitting in a vault somewhere. So with all that, it's hard to say I didn't have expectations going in, but rather...what those expectations exactly WERE.
Anyway, if you liked "Office Space" AND "Beavis and Butt-head" AND Luke Wilson AND Mya Rudolph, you'll probably find this a safe pick and a pleasant way to while away 87 minutes and $19.99 on the DVD.
I love how so little has been changed. They are using the same animated reels as they did when the show was originally on. When they are dancing to some crap video or just sitting there on the couch suffering through Teen Mom...
