As of 8:38 pm, WWE.com is only advertising K-Fed vs. Cena tonight. Could we see an iron-man match? They also say DX will get their revenge on Orton and Edge. I suppose that could take up a quite a bit of time too. And now, onto the show!.....

-WWE opening- I miss, “The worldwide leader in sports entertainment.”

-We start with a video package of the K-Fed/Cena feud

-Raw Intro is next- it was so weird first hearing them use a popular song for the intro. Usually, it’s in-house or a song I’ve never heard of.

-We are LIVE from Miami, Florida, with 15,169 packing the American Airlines Arena.

(1) John Cena vs. Kevin Federline, non-title match: Crowd seems fully behind Cena from the get-go. Lillian reads K-Fed’s absurdly-heightened credentials from a note card. Federline wears a “Team Federline” boxing robe (from Everlast!) to the ring, with a white tee and tan shorts. And that’s the extent of my fashion report- don’t want SHG to sue for infringement. But before Kevin gets to the ring, he grabs a mic. He says Coach made the match no-DQ, so of course, Johnny Nitro is brought out. A “We Want Britney” chant starts up. K-Fed stalls before the bell, putting in a mouth guard, gloves then headgear. Cena offers a headlock and K-Fed obliges. Cena easily fights out. Crowd is VERY into it. Federline removes the gloves and Nitro sends a chair in, wanting a Masterlock Challenge. Cena makes his “I’m SO casual” face in the masterlock. After that’s broken, Federline ditches the mouth guard and headgear and issues a test of strength. Wow, they’re using all the gimmicks. Federline takes Cena down into a cross-armbreaker. Cena picks him up and puts him on the turnbuckle. Nitro in, then out, K-Fed with a ball shot from behind. But Cena gets K-Fed up for the FU when Umaga interferes and nails Cena with the belt. Crowd wants DX. Federline covers and gets the pin.
Winner: Kevin Federline by pinfall, 4:56
N/A Not enough of a match to rate.

[break]

-Replay of what just took place

-Nitro and K-Fed celebrate backstage with some women (and a couple of guys!). Maria tries to get an interview, but Melina stops her from getting into the locker room. Melina then slaps Maria.

-Backstage is DX, no doubt plotting their revenge of Team RKO

-The camera got into the K-Fed party, where Coach congratulates him. He says Cena will face Umaga, Estrada, himself and Nitro later on. Seriously, why don’t they have a gauntlet match where Cena beats everyone on the roster?

[break]

-It’s White Chocolate Jason Williams and other Miami Heat in the front row!

(2) Cryme Tyme & The Highlanders vs. Cade and Murdoch & The World’s Greatest Tag Team: Cryme Tyme greet Shaq at ringside, and apparently rob him (hard to tell thanks to Shaq’s poor acting). Cade and Robby start things off. Near-fall for the Scot and JTG is tagged in. The heels take control on a Murdoch interference spot. Frequent tags by the heels. Shad is in after Cade misses an elbow and cleans house. All 8 men are in. Somehow, the two legal men end up the only ones in the ring, and after JTG interferes, Shad pins Murdoch.
Winners: Cryme Tyme & The Highlanders by pinfall, 3:23
DUD Way too rushed to amount to anything.

[break]

-Wrestlemania Recall is Hulk/Andre at WMIII.

-Maria vs. Melina, just added, tonight!

(3) Jeff Hardy vs. Rob Conway, non-title match: Conway interrupts Hardy’s music and is tired of being a whipping boy. He says his New Year’s resolution is to be a winner. Easier said than done. Conway says if he loses this match, he’ll quit RAW. To emphasize that point, Hardy pins him with a roll up in less than a minute.
Winner: Hardy by pinfall, :21
DUD Are you kidding?

-(Casual) Vince McMahon walks out with Conway still in the ring. Vince’s resolutions: stop being so damn nice and stop allowing people to take advantage of him, apparently, like Donald Trump. Vince says Trump has his own problems, dealing with “Yokozuna,” while a photo of Rosie O’Donnell is helpfully put on the Titan-Tron. He takes the Donald to task for his “You’re Fired” moniker. Vince fires Conway, classic style. If this leads to a Conway push on Smackdown, I’m all for it.

[break]

-WWE Slam of the Week: Kenny beating Flair two weeks ago.

-Todd Grisham (w/new buzz cut) interviews Kenny backstage. He vows to make Flair’s career death #4 of the week (along with JB, Ford and Sadaam).

-We hit the wayback machine to five weeks ago, when Flair was decimated by Edge and Orton. The whole feud with DX is encapsulated as well.

-DX is coming to the ring, next! Hopefully, they'll address the two men who have been harrassing them for weeks and challenging their manhood. Oh yeah, they'll probably talk about Edge and Orton too.

[break]

-DX comes out. I figured they’d be too pissed to pose for the crowd and do their fireworks, but I was wrong. Crowd won’t shut up. They can’t do the “ladies and gentlemen” however, because they’re too mad. HBK takes a veiled shot at Kurt Angle, saying they’ve outlived all the stars including “the best in-ring performer of his generation,” who is now “jerking the curtain somewhere.” For supposedly being “split ear-to-ear” two weeks ago, Triple H looks pretty good. Trips makes a funny, saying he expected a fight tonight, but Team RKO is out with a “double yeast infection.” Trips compares DX to Frosted Mini-Wheats. Apparently, whole wheat=anger and pain. Pretty decent interview, but they could afford to cut down on the goofiness at this point.

[break]

(4) Melina vs. Maria: Before the match starts, Victoria heads out with her clipboard, which now has a blank space and a check at the bottom. The girls roll around and Melina gets the advantage. Melina ties Maria’s hair in the rope and she can’t get out. Maria catches Melina with a boot but misses a dropkick and gets rolled up. Maria though accidentally rolls to the side to break the count. Melina tries again and gets the pin.
Winner: Melina by pinfall, 2:12
DUD Not much to it.

-Victoria gets in the ring like she’s going after Melina, but rolls out and attacks Lillian. Mickie James makes the save before the widow’s peak can be hit.

[break]

-Tribute to the Troops highlights.

(5) Ric Flair & Carlito vs. Chris Masters & Kenny Dykstra: Kenny and Carlito begin the match. Kenny gets the upper-hand off a distraction by Masters. But Flair tags in and hits a chop-block, then quickly to a figure-four. Kenny breaks that up.

[break]

We come back with Masters working on Carlito’s back. Kenny and Masters with some double-team work. Carlito tries to fight out of the heel corner, but Masters puts him down with a butterfly suplex. Gorilla-press slam from Masters gets two. Kenny gets Flair on the outside so he can’t make the tag. Masterlock gets clamped on Carlito. Flair with another chop-block to break it up, and Carlito tags Naitch. Big-time chops put Kenny down. Masters and Carlito fight to the back. Flair gets rolled up and Kenny puts his feet on the ropes for the pin.
Winners: Masters & Dykstra by pinfall, 10:55
** Flair and Masters are quite limited, and I’m not a big Carlito fan. Match was okay.

-Flair challenges Kenny to beat him fair, but before he can return to the ring, Team RKO comes out of the crowd and attacks Flair. Concharito ensues.

[break]

-Recap of what just transpired.

-New Year’s Revolution Lineup:
DX vs. Team RKO, Tag Title match
Hardy vs. Nitro, IC Title in a Cage match
Carlito vs. Masters
Mickie vs. Victoria, Women’s Title match
Flair vs. Dykstra
Cena vs. Umaga, WWE Title match

-Earlier tonight, Umaga whooped Cena

-The Alliance to End Cena-Mania are on their way to the ring.

[break]

-K-Fed is out. He’ll be sitting stage-side (he called the ring the “stage”). In fact, he’s sitting in on commentary.

(6) Jonathon Coachman, Armando Alejandro Estrada, Umaga & Johnny Nitro vs. John Cena: Umaga starts things and Cena looks good in the early going. Cena then gets Nitro in trouble. Umaga halts things with a Samoan drop. He gets the knees on a butt-drop though, and Cena locks in the STFU. Cena takes a chair that Estrada brought in and hits Umaga for the DQ. Cena takes’em all out and then hits the FU on K-Fed, who he dragged in from the commentary table.
Winners: Coach, AAE, Umaga and Nitro by DQ, 2:17
DUD

The Final “W”ord: 4.0 Not a good way to start 2007. The in-ring product was non-existent. Cena beat the odds to come out on top again. Team RKO took out Flair again and made DX look dumb for leaving early. This show didn’t get me amped for NYR.

I came in late tonight, around quarter to 11, and once settled in turned on RAW to see how they'd have the whole Cena/K-Fed match play out. I was surprised to see it...in a brief highlight reel.

Thing is, with it being the only thing advertised for tonight's RAW and being hyped so heavily the past few weeks, I assumed it'd be in the main event slot for the show. I mean, I saw the tail end of a highlight reel and then Coach, Umaga, and Nitro walking towards the ring for their match with Cena and immediately turned it off...and I'm an actual wrestling fan! Does anyone else think that was kind of a wasted opportunity?

I demand that Federline hit the gym, tan, train, and become a full-time wrestler. He is SUCH a natural, and his feud with Cena is the most entertaining thing on Raw in a long time. K-Fed is a god-send to professional wrestling. Anyone who says otherwise is just..... well, I just don't understand them.

Speaking of, I can not imagine how people DON'T like Cryme Tyme. I see many people on The Net bash Cryme Tyme as being horrible. Huh? JTG is overflowing with charisma and Shad.... hangs out with him. That's good enough for me.

Federline over Cena?

I don't care how it happened.

Federline over Cena? How can a HEAVYWEIGHT champ lose like that.

Outside of WCW when has this happened before (in a positive, for the business, manner)?

Shucks! I wish I understood booking!

OK Raw. Just O.K., that is it. Nothing worth talking about IMO. but hey that's me.

The whole thing seemed like a poor man's version of the old school Kaufman-Lawler feud, if that's any decent comparison - minus a whole lot of what made the Lawler-Kaufman feud interesting.

This is the first of any Raw I've seen in months. Even then, I thought the Umaga run-in was ridiculously obvious. For someone who used to religiously watch Raw, I am pained that Raw has become so uninteresting.

I believe the logic behind K-Fed beating John Cena is that WWE is hoping, praying, wishing, and holding their breath that the MEDIA will pick up on this and give them free coverage. Way to be a media whore in the lamest way. At least when WCW did it with guys like Jay Leno, it was... well, it's Jay Leno - a lot of people watch his show. But joining up with K-Fed AFTER you already know that his CD only sold 2,000 copies? Jeeeez, so desperate and lame. At least K-Fed's got more raw charisma than most WWE wrestlers. Sadly, this was all a waste of time, as he can't even consider joining right now -- he's going to Britain for Celebrity Big Brother.

I don't get the people who are saying K-Fed is a good heel. He's getting the we-hate-your-guts heat not the you're-a-good-heel heat, which everyone says is bad when it comes to guys like Triple H and Jarrett. I don't see this charisma he supposedly has either. I thought his promos last night were really really weak. I don't understand why they are wasting this time on K-Fed when they could easily turn this feud into Cena-Nitro and have someone who is actually capable of doing something in the ring with Cena.

Last night was the first time I watched Raw all the way through and my main problem was there was no smaller stories for any of the lower/middle card other than the women's match. Everything on the show is either about Cena or Orton/Edge vs DX/Flair. The 8 man tag match was about "who will challenge Edge/Orton". The Carlito/Masters feud was used in a tag match to setup another beatdown of Flair. Kenny is getting lost in the Orton/Edge vs Flair thing and Johnny Nitro is getting lost in the Cena/K-Fed stuff. The thing is I'm actually ok with those feuds going on, but I'd like to see WGTT, Carlito, Nitro and some others do something meaningful too. TNA might have a lot of problems but at least we get to see stuff from every level of the card despite them only having one hour.

For all of the good that WWE does with their tribute to the troops, they then have to go and pull stupid shit like having Kenny Dykstra use the deaths of the famous (or infamous in Saddam's case) to get get cheap heat ... just tacky tacky tacky ...

I enjoyed the DX promo, but an otherwise forgettable show.

Federline has the natural dickish heel "shtick" down to a tee and it's great that he's embraced it rather than have an ego and try to be a face and ignore it. You can say that he has "you suck/go away" heat, but there is so much built in hatred for the guy that people pop hard and will pay (for now) to see him get his ass beat. I know for a fact that people were at the show last night just to see the Cena/Federline match and to see K-Fed get beat down. He got people to pay to see him get beat up by Cena. That is the true mark of a good heel.

Just to spite the general public who basically believed that Federline was riding on Britney's coattails, I do hope that he gains success. I think there could be a spot for him in WWE, not unlike Johnny Fairplay in TNA. Only, however, I think that Federline has talent. If he cann, just as OMEGA suggested, hit the gym, get a tan, and perhaps do a stint in OVW or DSW, he'll be gold in the ring. I was thoroughly entertained by his work last night, and I'd love to see him back sometime.

I think it was just a convenient example of someone who isn't there, while he still is.

Anyone hoping Edge starts a promo next week with "You know, Shawn, all those guys aren't here, you and Hunter still are........ever think that might be part of the problem?"

And someone settle a bet for me: What exactly was the significance of FedEx tossing money on Cena post-match? (Depending on how badly he gets boned in the pre-nup, he might not have that much to toss.)

Say....... how come DX is always so anxious to ditch RAW the second they can? The very MOMENT their schedule looks halfway clear, they get the hell away from the stadium, pack their bags, and head for the highway.

Isn't RAW supposed to be a fun, cool event that's worth attending? Must-see TV and all that? The WWE -- where anything can happen?

Guess not.

As part of his billion hours of interviews a couple months ago, Kurt spent a lot of time running down Triple H and Shawn Michaels for politickin' and burying people. He also expressed annoyance at Shawn because when Batista vacated the title, the first person they asked to go to Smackdown and win the belt was Michaels, but Michaels turned it down. Kurt didn't like that since he had just been come over from Smackdown and had already wrestled everyone there.

Now that I've discovered that Kenny and I hail from the same hometown, I decided to do a little research ... A quick check of the local paper's archives reveals a Kenneth L. Doane II being about the right age, so I'm guessing that's him

However, I can't find any verification on the intrawebz that Kenny's middle name starts with an "L".

EDIT: Whoops, Wikipedia says his middle name is "George".

He started his professional wrestling career in the New England area under the name "Broadway" Kenn Phoenix. He was later trained by legendary professional wrestler and professional wrestling trainer Killer Kowalski. After being contacted by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) he was asked to make appearances for their developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW).

Doane made his first national television appearance in WWE at the age of 17 on the May 12, 2003 episode of WWE RAW, from Philadelphia, as Kenn Phoenix. Along with his brother, using the name Mike Phoenix, he was a participant in Rodney Mack's ongoing "5-Minute White Boy Challenge" where Mack would defeat Caucasian wrestlers in under 5 minutes. Mack defeated the pair in 1:31, forcing them both to submit to his debuting Blackout finishing hold. He made one further appearance, losing to Goldust on an episode of Sunday Night Heat before being officially signed and assigned to OVW full time.

After two years in OVW, Doane debuted on RAW as a member of the Spirit Squad. The Squad became closely associated with The McMahons and would feud with DX and Ric Flair, as well as hold the World Tag Team Championship as a team.

After the breakup of the Spirit Squad, Kenny became interested in joining Rated-RKO (Edge and Randy Orton), who insisted that he "prove himself" first. During this time, Doane would debut a new look, new music and a last name, which made his ring name Kenny Dykstra (possibly a pun on ex-MLB player Lenny Dykstra) and would continue a long running feud with Ric Flair.

If Kurt said those things, it doesn't really make sense to me. So he was mad that he got to win the World Title and co-main event Mania while his body was falling apart? To be honest, he didn't even deserve it due to his condition/health. Maybe he didn't like being 2nd choice? I never heard that they asked HBK to do it first. Just think, we would have avoided the last 6 months of DX if that had happened, and may have even had a HBK-Rey title match at WM 22.

Also, I understand bitching about the politics of DX, but who was it that put Kurt over in the middle of the ring at WM 21 in the MOTY? As great as Kurt was/kinda still is, sounds like a bit of jealousy to me.

I think previous celebrities have set the bar so low that we're all (most of us, anyway) pleasantly suprised to see Kevin doing as well as he's done so far. That being said, I think he's been awesome. I would've liked to see him get in more offense than just the kick to the nuts he gave Cena, but I liked what I saw on Monday. I'm not saying Cena would have had to SELL any of his offense, I just would've liked to see Kevin maybe try to throw a punch or something.

Please keep in mind that the heavyweight champ lost to Kevin Federline AFTER he took a belt-shot from the #1 contender to the title, who is also undefeated. Makes sense to me.

The sports guy on my local morning news radio show picked up on the story this morning. He even played soundbites of JR & Lawler's reactions to Federline's first appearance & FU and his last one on Monday. I dont know who else is talking about it, but there's at least one so far. The sports guy didnt even report it in a "WWE sucks, look how awful they are" sort of way, it was in more of a "Lookit what that K-Fed is up to now, it sounds like he sure got his on Monday night" sort of way, which was pretty much the gist of the angle, right?

I dont think Kurt was complaining about HHH/HBK holding HIM down (because he was clearly not ever held down in anyway), but it's not like he couldnt see what was going on around him.

I think Kurt definitely got his ego hurt by being the second choice, but at the same time I think the bigger issue was I believe at the time they had moved him back to Raw so being shipped back to Smackdown, title or not, is probably considered a demotion because it's clearly the B show. And as someone else already said he had already wrestled everyone on Smackdown, there was nothing left for him to do.

I don't condone the way that Angle has been acting, he's been a prick. However, who cares who put him over at WM21? Triple H and HBK do the job very occassionally and they're supposed to be praised for it? They should be doing it more often. And why doesn't anybody else ever get credit for doing the job?
