As predicted by many, Homicide beat Bryan Danielson to win the ROH World Title last night and end Dragon's 14-month reign as champion. Given Homicide's tenure with TNA, does this mean he'l be a fairly short-term transitional champ like Aries-Gibson-Punk last summer, or will he get a long (at least six-month) run with the gold? I favour the latter, since it would be interesting having ROH's top rulebreaker holding the most 'traditional' world title in wrestling.

If he is transitional, they've certainly set it up, what with his shoulder and all. (How did it hold up?) But I'd think it'd be long-term, unless TNA gets demanding.

It's funny, recently Danielson had done interviews saying that he's been able to learn to live with the shoulder pain. This might lead you to believe he may take some time off.

Actually it was a 15 month plus reign, not 14 . I wouldn't really call Aries a transitional champ since he held the belt the longest in 2005, nearly 6 months.

For Homicide, his chase was a lot more dramatic and interesting than his title run will end up being, or at least that's my prediction. If he has a short run, I think ROH has a lot of people that could easily step up and carry the belt no problem. Danielson's legendary run will be hard to top. Samoa who?

Pretty cool that Homicide is now one half of the NWA world tag team champions and now the ROH world champion. Awesome.

I look forward to the Briscoes' ascension this year taking both the GHC jr tag belts and the ROH tag team titles in a matter of months .

In news that's slightly more interesting (to me anyway, your mileage may vary)...

Sweet and Sour Larry Sweeney made his ROH debut on 12/22 helping Chris Hero and Claudio Castognelli beat the Briscoes. On the following night, the Briscoes won the rematch and Chris Hero announced that with Claudio reporting to the WWE farm system that he had chosen Sweeney to be Claudio's replacement. Claudio said that he wasn't leaving JUST yet and made Chris Hero choose between him and Sweeney. Hero chose Sweet and Sour.

(Apparently, Claudio will be fulfilling his indy bookings through March so that leaves room for a brief feud with Sweeney and Hero before leaving for good.)

Also, my boy El Generico made his reappearance in ROH on 12/23, wrestling in a Four Corners match vs. Jimmy Rave, Davey Richards and Christopher Daniels. Generico got a good crowd reaction and hit Richards with his top rope BRAAAAAIN-BUSSTTTTAAH. (For those out of the loop, he hits the brain-buster on to the top turnbuckle. Yes, it's insane.) Unfortunately, Jimmy Rave had blind-tagged Richrds before Generico hit the brain-buster and as the legal man forced Generico to tap to his ankle submission.

Its too bad that they made Generico job again, let alone tap out, but at least they made him look strong doing so and it is part of their major push to make Jimmy Rave into a serious contender. (Rave beat Nigel McGuiness later in the night too.)

Danielson's reign is going to be hard to top, but his winning the belt provides for a lot of fresh match-ups that have the potential to be really interesting - Homicide/Strong, Homicide/McGuinness, and Homicide/Delirious to name a few. That being said, it's sort of bittersweet since Danielson was SO good in his role as a heel champion.

I have a feeling Homicide's first major feud is going to be with Rave, which should be a LOT of fun. I've been a fan of Rave's for awhile now, and I'm glad to see they're giving him a serious push. The guy's seriously underrated.
