To Denver:

Melo and the Answer? Together? Hmmmm.....

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

Well, not together for a while at least.

This was worht the shot for Denver as the team they had now was not going to go far intot he playoffs. Iverson is as tough as it gets and if he is healthy provides a great 1-2 scoring punch with 'Melo.

And George Karl, too, who I think is the most curious part of the equation.

As much as I like the Iverson/'Melo combo, they're still missing a genuine big man presence down low, meaning they're still destined to fall to Phoenix or San Antonio in the playoffs. Marcus Camby and Nene won't cut it, and sending off Joe Smith may have just made that situation worse.

Now if they were to trade for a center before the trade deadline, then we can talk championship.

"That's the thing: Maybe he'll be up and down this season, but when he's up, is there another center in the league quite like him? He protects the rim, passes out of double teams, has great hands around the basket, up-fakes on his jump-hooks, rebounds in traffic, even has a motor that keeps going and going (unlike a stiff like Eddy Curry). I'm not sure what's missing here. This is stunning. This is startling. There's almost no precedent for it. Just what the Lakers needed: More obscenely good luck. Meanwhile, I have to watch Al Jefferson whip jump-hooks off the front of the rim for the third straight season. I will now pour scalding hot water down my pants."

Eh, I can see the Nuggets (or any other team) winning a championship without a dominant center. The question, to me, is whether Carmelo and Iverson will be able to co-exist, and whether George Karl will be able to find enough shots for both of them.

One thing's for sure, it'll definitely be interesting to watch.

Having them both playing together on the same team right away is one thing, but I'm curious to see what happens after Melo comes back from suspension and it's already been AI's team for a month.

Would they have made the trade without the suspensions ? I'm not sure. Nuggets were doing alright before the suspension but 10-15 games without your star players can make a GM itchy.....

and does this now put the Nuggets in the lead for the team with the most tattoos ?

I think this has more to do with George Shinn being a terrible owner. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2008/11/02/294986/shinn-i-messed-up-in-charlotte.html has him admitting that his sexual assault trial forced the Hornets to move to New Orleans.
