Not bad!

- Don West was born to oversell the ankle-lock.
- Crazy Angle.
- We got a stern lecture from Mike Tenay while West was dying three feet away.
- Angle managed to marginalize (worse than it was) the EY/Bobby Roode nonsense.
- The VKM angle has to be sputtering to a close now, right? Where it can it go once the WWE fails to respond?
- Christian called the hot interview girl a "trick."
- Bob Backlund was mentioned.
- Jim Cornette officially becomes the most ineffective authority figure ever! Refs and announcers were KILLED tonight. Where's the fines, where's the suspensions?

There were matches too but this is TNA: We Are Skits and Interviews (though the Killings match was fun).

So, let's play "who's babyface and heel?"

- Angle cheats at the PPV, loses, demands a rematch = Heel
- Joe refuse Angle rematch. Cowardly move = Heel.
- Angle is teaming with Rhyno next week. Rhyno = babyface.
- Joe is teaming with AJ. AJ = heel
- Abyss is a demonic monster = heel.
- Sting stole his title = heel

The whole promotion is getting muddled into the Russo-riffic shades of grey. It's good in moderation and they and get away with it in front of those idiots at the Double Dare arena but it HAS to be confusing to the viewing audience, right?

That said, great show. Crazy Angle is fun.

I don't mind the shades of grey a bit in the Angle/Joe matchup, especially since Joe's been more or less a tweener ever since he stopped wearing a bloody towel.
That said, however, the pairings for next week's tag match were completely incomprehensible. No matter how fine the line is between face and heel in this feud, Angle clearly leapfrogged into "heel" territory tonight.

I'm also cool with the shades of grey in the world title feud, but mostly because I want an excuse to boo Sting, who completely bores me.

Kevin Nash is so damn funny ... his measuring of the push-up bar, stating it was regulation length was priceless.

those idiots at the Double Dare arena

As opposed to the ignorant cocksuckers that used to populate the Bingo Hall? Or the self-serving marks that worship Sapolsky?

Or maybe it *is* the TV VIEWERS. The same million or so still seem to tune in every week, confusion or not

Shit, it'd be an all day discussion determining which group of fans were the most annoying.

The Impact Zoners have the getting in for free, the dueling chants and the popping for every broken down has been going for them. They're also not as smart as they think they are.

ROHbots have the... well, I think the ROHbots seem to take it just a LITTLE to seriously, y'know. Like, many of them seem like they'd literally start weeping with joy after a five snowflake match or if Misawa walked through the curtains. ROHbots are to smart for their own good.

The bingo mutants were well, typical Philly fans. They all seemed kind of dodgy, like they were keeping one step ahead of the law.

Maybe the muddled characters are fine for the audience. It doesn't hurt my feelings if they book Joe and Angle to both be heels, but a promotion has to have dudes you can get from first glance and say "ah, good guy" or "fuck him."

I mean, people point as Steve Austin as that type of tweener character but y'know fuck... I mean, at the end of the day he saved Stephanie from the Undertaker.

Gotta book someone to be the hero.

Or not, hell. I don't know. I'm kind of talking out my ass in this post.

I don't mind shades of grey, but that is hardly a Russo invention. ECW was doing that long before he stole the idea. There is nothing wrong with letting the fans decide who to choose to cheer, as long as the angles are compelling, and I think for the most part, they are in TNA. At least in the upper card. It is a lot better than the McMahons telling us who to boo or cheer.

And the "face" doesn't have to do the "right thing" to get cheered, he only has to do what the crowd wants him to do. And many times, it's not what Jesus would do.

A few things regarding the confusion...

1. Angle's heel turn was hinted at during the match with Joe at the pay-per-view during the ref bump, and the trigger was pulled this week. He's clearly established as a heel now, so I don't see the confusion there.

2. Joe refusing the rematch didn't come across to me as him "dodging" Angle. If you watched the promo he gave on Impact, he specifically stated that he was done with Angle because he needed to focus on winning the World Title. Since he got his retribution for his single loss in TNA, he wants to focus on getting something that's alluded him during his 18-month tear - the world title. That's not a cowardly heel, that's a face who's looking on to bigger things but won't be allowed to because of the heel actions of someone who can't let go (Angle). So again, I don't see the confusion, since it came across pretty clear to me through his promo.

3. Yeah, the tag teams of Joe/Styles and Angle/Rhyno make absolutely no sense.

Really, I don't think there's much in the way of shades of grey here, just a case of some people not paying close enough attention and a badly booked tag main for next week.

As for Impact as a whole, I liked it much better than last week. It still had its faults (namely all the skits and continued emphasis being taken away from the in-ring quality of matches which I personally think they should focus on as the thing that makes them the alternative), but the matches didn't seem quite as throwaway as they did last week. There's still way too much going on in certain parts, but it at least showed a little more focus. Whether that's just an anamoly from recent creative decisions or progress remains to be seen. Hopefully it's the latter.

Even though they dragged out the potential AMW split for way too long, I thought the execution of it was great. I'm still not getting exactly why Petey Williams would give a shit about "Wildcat" Chris Harris, but what're you gonna do. I doubt either of them will be anywhere near as over as singles wrestlers, but we'll see.

Voodoo Kin Mafia continue to irritate me and come across as severely lame and pathetic. You also have to laugh (at them derisively) when they refer to HHH and Shawn Michaels by their OMG SHOOT real names and then refer to themselves in the third person as BG and Kip James. It's like the gimmick was written for 14-year-old kids who just started visiting newz sites four months ago.

After being one of the few entertaining aspects of the show this past week, I thought the Paparazzi Championship Series installment blew. The humor just fell flat to me and came across as stupid rather than stupid and silly, which I normally enjoy.

The ROH dudes are grade A dorks, but at least they're dorking out over Ring of Honor and not Total Nonstop by god Action.

I really dug Impact this week, and I don't mind the crowd usually. They make the shows "seem" more intense and add more than some WWE crowds that don't pop for anything beyond entrances and finishers.

Outside of the crowd, I loved the PCS segment and I didn't even mind the VKM stuff. I agree that the shades of grey is confusing, but as I like both Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle, they are both deserving of cheers in my book. I guess I'm a little ROH that way.

The Angle reaction would easily be defused (or at least hollowed) if someone would mention on the air that the men are now even in this feud. Angle won the first match, Joe won the second. They're square, and Angle becomes the full-on heel by letting pride override his respect for Joe as a competitor. Angle said when he arrived in TNA that he wanted the best competition. He gets it. It's better than he expected, and now he's unhappy. If ANYONE in TNA should be waving the WWE flag for a plot, Angle should do it, saying something along the lines of he's too good be in this company.

That would make more sense than VKM simply whining about being left out of the DX revival. I'm seeing a fake DX walk out for a quick match at the next TNA PPV, akin to Jim Ross ushering in a fake Diesel and Ramon. They can even wrestle under the real names of Hunter and Michaels, since VKM tosses them around like they carry any more weight than the stage names. As if that guy's real name is "Kip James."

But this was a good show, I thought. It refered to lots of smaller stories while pushing the title belts. Abyss has two contenders for the belt, both of which have information about his real identity. I oddly think Mitchell is not enough of a character in this plot though. He speaks well on PPV, but he's not the controlling bastard he should be on free TV. Why should Abyss break from him, one wonders, when he helps him hold the belt and rightfully points out Sting's devious ploys?

Always good to hear Cornette at ringside. I enjoy the PCS skits even though they have nothing to do with actual ringwork. LAX came off weak in this match as it was all about AMW breaking up. I'm curious about Seratonin and wonder where they fall in a tag division with seemingly only one team: the champs. Not that I want to see The Naturals again.

X-E's co-Worst Poster of all time! JKyle.com says:

"Because you're black." God I hope the whole Nash/X Div saga ends up on DVD. I'll buy copies.

The reason Angle and Rhyno are teaming is b/c they can't give us a conclusive ending on free TV. Both characters whether face or heel have a temper and when Rhyno says the wrong thing to Angle and Angle turns on him or Rhyno snaps and GOREGOREGOREs Angle before Joe pins him it'll make sure no one in that tag match takes a definitive fall.

I think.

Let's also don't forget that when Kurt won the first match he originally denied a rematch for Joe. This can mean one of two things.

1. Joe refusing a rematch could be him sticking it to Angle for doing the same thing to Joe.

or

2. TNA could make Joe change his mind in less than a week like Kurt did.

I know it's never going to happen, especially with Nash do his stuff in the X Division, but if I was TNA, I'd try and buid the X title back up. Have Joe go off and conquer the World Title while Angle says he came to TNA to face the best competition and that's the X Division. Have Angle win the X Title to give it a little bit more meaning. And then when Joe and Angle eventually meet up for Round 3 make it title vs. title.
