Looks like AI wants out.

ESPN.com - NBA - Stein: Iverson packing, but for where?

Considering how many times over the years that the Sixers have cried wolf in regards to trading Iverson, I'll believe it when I see it.

Having said that, I wonder if the Clippers would pony up Livingston and a few other guys and make a deal happen?

"That's the thing: Maybe he'll be up and down this season, but when he's up, is there another center in the league quite like him? He protects the rim, passes out of double teams, has great hands around the basket, up-fakes on his jump-hooks, rebounds in traffic, even has a motor that keeps going and going (unlike a stiff like Eddy Curry). I'm not sure what's missing here. This is stunning. This is startling. There's almost no precedent for it. Just what the Lakers needed: More obscenely good luck. Meanwhile, I have to watch Al Jefferson whip jump-hooks off the front of the rim for the third straight season. I will now pour scalding hot water down my pants."

This is exactly why I picked Iverson as the MVP in our predictions thread. I think wherever he ends up he'll play his butt off to A) stick it to Philly and B) because he's (hopefully) on a playoff team. He probably improves whatever team he ends up on, they go to the playoffs or advance far and a lot of people will take notice that AI was the difference. Plus he already has good enough stats to be a MVP candidate regardless of how his team does.

Send him to New York. Cuz it'd be funnier than anything else I could think of.

Otherwise, send him to Atlanta, which would make no sense at all, but I'm a homer.

But like It's False said, I'll believe it when I see it. I've heard this story too many times before, although it is getting a whole lot more play now than in the past.

The comments from the team owner pretty much summed it up. They will do their best to trade him. The owner was as forthright as any person I've seen in that situation.

ESPN reporter: Has Allen Iverson played his last game for Philadelphia?

Sixers owner: ... Probably.

Yup, that sounds pretty definite to me ... I'm just not too keen on him joining the Celtics (the big trade-that-almost-was of the summer); it certainly would give the C's some much-needed buzz in the national media again, but I don't want them to sacrifice Al Jefferson or Gerald Green just for a chance at a couple of meaningless playoff appearances for the next couple of seasons before AI retires.

Now, trading those players for Kevin Garnett, on the other hand ...

I caught the tail end of the AI trade speculation segment on SportsCenter tonight. They said that the Knicks are, in fact, one of the main teams in the mix. They also noted that Phil Jackson said not to rule out the Lakers. If he goes to LA and is playing beside Kobe Bryant, I'll have no choice but to kill myself.

Well, since this thread is about AI, might as well dust off this classic:

BY GAWD, Allen Iverson wants a trade done and he wants it done RIGHT NOW!!! Just...as long as it's not with the Bobcats, apparently.

A trade that would have sent disgruntled guard Allen Iverson to the Charlotte Bobcats died Monday when Iverson indicated his displeasure with the deal, a source told the Philadelphia Inquirer on Tuesday.

The Inquirer reported that a source indicated Iverson's trade demand did not include limitations on where he was sent. But that apparently did not include the Bobcats (5-15), who have struggled on the floor and at the box office since joining the NBA in 2004.

Can you blame him? At his age, and with the kind of talent he has and the levels of success he has seen, why on earth would he want to go to a team that has yet to shake itself of the "expansion" label? That's probably the only team in the league he could go to where he would be WORSE off than if he stayed in Philly.

Sounds like he got sold a shitty deal too. He was told they were going to keep the team together, and now they've blown it all apart.
