WWE.com is carrying a story that Paul Heyman was sent home from ECW this afternoon by Vince McMahon. Which is very, very weird. Part of me thinks this is a work in order to take ECW in a new direction after the bomb that was last night. Then the other part of me kinda thinks that Heyman's just had enough and is on his way out.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
No way they just let Heyman walk, not after Angle went to TNA. Everyone knows that Heyman would be immediately picked up faster than Dixie could tell Russo to not let the door hit him in the ass. Sending him home might be legit, but no way they released him. They would rather pay him to stay home for a couple years than let him go legitimize another fed.
It's looking more and more legit by the second, I also just read that Show is going to have his last match tonight against lashley. Say what you want to about him, hes busted his back (quite literally) over the past 5 months to make the new ecw work. Its all sucked, but show had some of the best matches of his career lately.

That's written like it's in work mode but who knows. WWE.com has been schizo in that stuff recently. We all thought the T/Batista stuff was an angle...
Please let this be true. Let Paul Heyman really be done with WWE. Let him go to TNA and let Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter kick that worthless idiot Vince Russo out the door so Heyman can book the show.
Let Sabu, who seems to be on Vince McMahon's shit list, go back to TNA.
Let Rob Van Dam, who is rumored to be miserable and whose contract is rumored to be up in 6 months, blow out of WWE as soon as possible and also go to TNA so we might see RVD vs. AJ Styles, RVD vs. Chris Daniels, RVD vs. Samoa Joe, RVD vs. Abyss, and RVD vs. Chris Sabin, among other matches.
Let Lita go to TNA too and join Christy, Gail Kim, and Traci to start up a valid women's division.
Let TNA actually become what it could be by having a talented man with something to prove like Paul Heyman as the booker and as a result, give me a wrestling show that both puts WWE to shame and doesn't make me want to vomit with rage.

Seconded. Although I suppose that whatever happened, people will spin it however they would already. Those who hated the reanimated corpse of ECW will continue claiming it's a sign of their downfall, those who didn't will probably say it's all an angle. I don't think it bodes well for the brand, but that's just me.

A few thoughts....
If Heyman being sent home wasn't a "work", I'd really be surprised if they just cut him loose so he can immediately go to TNA. I think they would pay him to stay home for a few months then see if stuff can be work out between them.
On Sabu: some of the stuff reported has him trying to get fired. If that's the case, then he's stupid. How much longer is he going to be able to wrestle with all the stuff he's done over the years? Collect a nice paycheck and get out of the game before you spend your life in a wheelchair like the Dynamite Kid.
On RVD: If he jumps to TNA that will be the biggest thing to happen in wrestling since Hall and Nash jumped to WCW. Bigger than Angle going to TNA, if only because he wasn't fired from WWE, he willingly left. Note to Vince: ever hear of the saying "Those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it"?
On Lita: so if she goes to TNA, the same Lita who's been ripped on the net for being a horrible wrestler the past 2 years is going to help start a "viable womens division"? I know many of you hate WWE and think TNA's shit don't stink, but c'mon.
On TNA putting WWE to shame; I actually hope that can consistently happen. If for anything, McMahon put out WWE's best wrestling when he was threatened with going out-of-business. If both companies start putting out great stuff every week, then we're all winners.
EDIT: More on Lita...wasn't she retiring because of her injuries? I'd be surprised if she jumped to TNA, at probably half of what she made in WWE, and risk permanent damage, just to spite Vince.
I think we could quibble whether hiring Heyman to replace Russo (as opposed to someone else replacing him) would be the smart thing for TNA - but the more realistic point is TNA's never quite been good doing the smart thing, so I wouldn't hold your breath for it now.
"I think that without Paul fighting for the better direction to take ECW I fear that it's in for some horrible changes," said Van Dam.
NOW it's going to have some horrible changes? Either Rob's got a strange view of where they're at now, or a horrific view of where they'll be.
He would not last 2 seconds in TNA. The first time he tells Dixie "you lost 20 million before I lost 7". Kaput.
that's before he punches Russo. Ain't gonna happen
RVD and Sabu are fuck-ups. That's not to say they won't get work. You are right. At the very least RVD will be there - firmly ensconced in the mid card like Steve and Jay and Terry!
If Heyman was so smart he would still have a job. If this is a work, why?

Demonstrations are a drag. Besides, we're much too high
One thing I do hate is that everytime someone leaves WWE it turns into "OMG THIS IS THE PERSON WHO MAKE TNA NUMBER 1." Heyman will be an upgrade, but he's in no way the revolutionary firebrand of '94.
It's strange to say but honestly the McMahons and Heyman will never, ever co-exist for very long. IF this is a legit deal, this'll be one of many times he's been turfed off the creative team. Maybe as far as Vince McMahon is concerned if ECW is going to have any sort of future, it's best to go along without Paul. Maybe a big part of McMahon cooling on the project was b/c of having to deal with Heyman.
Not saying that the product is going to get BETTER or anything, but it might put the project back on the front burner in the company. Put Dusty in charge, hell...
"Sending home" is not the same as "fired." Keep in mind that Heyman has been officially on WWE's payroll for almost six years now (and unofficially, for five more), and through he's been taken off the creative team numerous times, he's never actually been fired. Internet rumour says this is because Vince is worried about losing him to an up-and-coming promotion like TNA, but it might be realistically because he and Vince are just naturally going to butt heads a lot.

So what are you saying, that the only reason Vince never fires Paul is because he's big enough to know that friends can argue but they'll patch things up eventually? Does this sound at all like Vince McMahon to you? A more realistic demonstration of Vince in a love/hate relationship is his handling of Jim Ross--sooner or later JR always comes back, but in the meantime Vince isn't afraid to cut him loose.
With Heyman it seems far more logical that Vince would like to release him when they fall out and rehire him when all is forgiven, but there is some reason he resists that urge. It may not be a fear of Heyman becoming serious competition, but it certainly isn't Vince trying not to burn any bridges.
"I'd rather see Batista vs RVD since Van Dam seems to match up with odd guys rather well" RVD works well with power guys. RVD matched up well with Batista before Batista got any good. Not sure if its odd.
