Now that the origin stories are out of the way, we're on with getting the characters positioned to start doing things. But that's all this episode is -- positioning. Nothing's really going down yet. Even the titular Hiros (badass future Hiro) is only there for about two minutes, and just leaves a cryptic message to reposition Peter.

Nothing wrong with a good transitional episode; without them you've got no means of moving from A to Z. This ep was taken down a peg or two by some severely weird moments, though, such as Mr. Bennet completely bungling the abduction of Nathan. What, couldn't the feddies spring for a ten dollar bottle of chloroform or some additional agents?

Mohinder's doubting Thomas routine is also increasingly odd... he went from True Believer to Jaded Disbeliever between the last two episodes, and all because he couldn't decrypt a single file. Bizarre. At least his I'm Not A Spy, Honest next door neighbor gal wasn't here to cheese up the screen.

Finally, mad props for not going for "a HEROES ending!!". You can't end every episode with a tweest without running out of shock value down the road; conserve that stuff.

Probably a low point for the series, but even at its low point, the show's engaging. It feels like the plot's actually going somewhere and that all the pieces were well thought out far in advance, unlike other shows *cough*lost*cough*.

I missed this show until Sunday when I heard they were doing a mini marathon. I got a copy of the pilot, watched it in the morning, then watched the next three episodes in a row. Maybe seeing them all one after another numbed me a bit to the plot, but I haven't been shocked or surprised at much at all in this show. I'm not saying it's a bad show, in fact I'm enjoying it quite a bit, I just think it's predictable and when something isn't predictable, it's not that exciting.

Anyway, this episode was alright, I'm glad to see more of the characters meeting each other. I hope Mohinder gets killed off because he's useless and not all that interesting. Isaac + heroin makes for a nice touch of realism to the show. The cop is great, I hope he meets up with some of the others soon.

What I am really really really anticipating is learning how Hiro goes from overly excitable, squeaky, clean-shaven, Japanese speaking guy to ridiculously cool, badass, soul patch wearing, English speaking samurai. Did I see a ponytail on him too? He's kind of annoying now, but his future looks bright to me.

Ken Kennedy debuted a new finisher: Jeff Hardy fans will insist on calling it the Swanton Bomb, but it looks WAY more devastating when not performed by a 180-pound fruitcake.

Actually, I thought this episode was a typical Heroes ending after all it ended pretty much the same as last week. Last week Hiro says to Peter "I've got a message for you" and then fade out. This week Peter says to Hiro "I've got a message for you" and then fade out.

I liked the Isaac/Peter pairing, it made sense to put those two together so that Peter can mimic his powers and Isaac doesn't have to get high to draw the painings.

I wasn't crazy about Greg Grunberg's storyline this week though which is unfortunate because he's my favorite of the cast.

Annoying? Nay, he is the reflection of the quintessential fanboy who finds out he actually *is* special. Gotta love the wide-eyed innocence and naivete, because now we know that is not going to last long.

Line of the night: "Oooh, Waffles!"

I missed the third episode on purpose 'cause the second episode kind of turned me off. However, after watching the fourth episode online and the previews after the mini-marathon, I am curious to see where they are going with this. I gotta say though, the whole line of "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" is just sooooooo cheesy.

I'm glad that we're FINALLY starting to get to the actual action. Unless of course next week still winds up as more positioning. (Though according to the previews, it looks like we may get some actual fighting...)

Was D.L. the same bald guy that's been wiping minds for Mr. Bennet?

I didn't think that Bennet botched anything with the quarterback. For someone who is allegedly evil, he's now had at least two opportunities to kill people (he had Matt restrained, plus the quarterback, and you could even count that he had his gun pulled on Nathan without shooting him - though Nathan didn't give him the chance...), and he's seemingly been merciful. Although if Mr. Bennet is evil, what does it say that the good character (Claire) attempts murder while the bad character offers a second chance?

My confusion with the episode stems from Hiro's in/ability to speak English. If he knows some broken english, why couldn't he get a better warning through to Isaac. As I recall, the messages were just him shouting in Japanese on the phone. It wasn't until tonight that he finally spoke some English. Even if he doesn't know how to say "bomb in 5 weeks", he should still be able to circumlocute a little better. He seemed to do okay with Nathan.

Ando is a dumbass. Though I liked his use of the WHOIS database. I could buy that Niki would be dumb enough to use her home address there.

D.L. isn't the Bennet assistant. D.L.'s power is phasing through solid objects, hence the preview shot and the fact that he walked out of prison. Bennet's assistant is a mindwiper, it seems.

When I say Bennet botched, I mean when he tried to grab Nathan Petrelli. Dragged him out of the hotel with only one guy acting as backup, didn't drug him, didn't do anything to restrain him from using a superpower -- and given he didn't know Nathan's power (otherwise they wouldn'tve mocked his inability to get over a fence, they'd jump him before he could take off) he should've assumed Nathan was highly dangerous and subdued him completely first.

"Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" worked in that it got non-Heroes fans talking about Heroes... even my mom knew the line. It's so cheesy it's viral.

My bad for not being able to read, apparently. That is a good point, though.

I'm thinking all the creepy staging with Mr. Bennet is a red herring. I don't think he's going to wind up being a bad guy at all. I see him as being a (government?) agent who's trying to assemble some guys to fight Sylar, who seems to be absorbing the abilities of the superhumans by stealing their brains. Which would also explain why Claire is so important. If there's one ability you really don't want a villain to have, it's invincibility.

I like this theory a lot. Another similar theory a friend of mine proposed:

So whenever Peter gets around one of the other heroes, he saps/steals/borrows their power. What's going to happen when all the heroes finally meet? Is he going to turn into some sort of supergod? A super badass version of Captain Planet, perhaps. Can he even assimilate more than one power at once? Is he going to overload and BRAIN ASPLODE? Or, and I think this would be really cool although highly unlikely, what if he acts as some sort of repeater station and every hero gets everyone else's power?

I'm interested to see how he reacts if/when he meets Niki or the cop.

Once again, Hiro's dorkdom steels the show.

No way in hell is Claire's dad a bad guy. It's just too obvious.

My favorite part? Peter trying to bring himself to say "Save the cheerleader, save the world" to Mohinder and the pained expression on his face as he just can't do it.

Okay, you guys have got me hooked on this show now. I've been grabbing them every week so that "at some point" I can sit down and watch the show if it turns out to be good after all (much like my 5 years of 24 that I have to start sometime) and after watching them all through yesterday, I think the show is great.

My biggest hesitation about it was that I've already watched about the best drama about a high school cheerleader that has super human powers saving the world, and I was worried that this would be just one rip off after another, but it seems to be staying as original as possible given the context.

Totally enjoying the show so far, but let me say that if Suresh's new friend doesn't turn out to be some kind of villian, I will be completely shocked.

Like Tribal Prophet, I'd been recording the show, but hadn't actually watched anything beyond the pilot until two nights ago. Wow, this is a fun show. Hiro is going to end up being the heart and soul of whatever the group becomes. It'll be interesting to see how he reacts to the split-personality blonde (sorry, I can't think of her name off the top of my head).

Peter also poses a great wildcard dynamic as well. What's also interesting with him is that there's some suggestion that he might be a bit of a mindreader/empath as well since he was dreaming of being synched to Nathan's flight ability.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I also just got caught up in the show over the weekend. I must be the only one interested in the Vegas stripepr's story, as I'm really intrigued by what her actual power will end up being manifested as.

Throw me into the list of people who absolute love Hiro. I want to bottle and sell him.

It's so interesting how Claire's father seems so evil, but he's very good to Claire, and Claire clearly loves the hell out of him. That'll make the likely turn that much more effective in the end.

I really enjoy Nathan's smarmy yet charming nature. His landing actions (not just slamming down to the ground, which would of course break his legs, but more skidding, which looked like it still hurt like hell) was enjoyable. I was hoping for a couple episodes of the Hiro & Nathan Road Show, but alas they have already went their separate ways.

I'm not sure if Suresh will end up being a Professor X who figures everything out and directs the Heroes where to go and what to do, or if he'll be the token first death.

I'm chalking this up to one of two things.

1. Sloppy writing / plot convenience, or
2. The man in a coma he was attending has a dreaming precog power that Peter was borrowing while he napped next to him.

#2 would make sense; people in comas traditionally are experiencing some strange and meaningful state of consciousness in scifi type stories.

That's a very interesting theory, especially since the guy in the coma was Simone's father, and we've had lots of suggestion that the powers travel through generations: Claire constantly asking about her birth parents, the implications of Peter's father's *suicide*, etc. I wonder if this can only be the groundwork to suggest that Simone will also develop powers at some point.

And the man in the coma was played by Richard Roundtree - Shaft himself - and you don't cast the baddest mother in the world to just lie in a bed and be forgotten about.

True enough. When I bought it I thought that they wouldn't include it with another DVD set since it was it's own standalone story. I finally bite the bullet and get it, and two months later they announce Season 4 with Razor included. Dammit.
