Ventura commentary is cut out of most if not all of the DVD's, just because he would be owed royalties. But they don't cut his commentary on 24/7.

And If you have the Bret Hart set, Bret vs. Dibiase has almost no commentary. I don't know if Jesse did that match but it is weird.

I think that was just a house show match that was probably meant for a Coliseum Video special tape or something. Maybe they meant to dub it later?

However, speaking of the Bret DVD and Jesse's commentary, The Body utters 2 words during the Harts/Rockers SNME match that is on the tape...

Vince: ...And "The Anvil" tags in "The Hitman..."
Jesse: "The technician..."

It's quick, but you can catch it.

I think the Bret/Dibiase match was on Wrestling Challenge. I lent it to a friend and don't have it to make sure. But I did notice that in the Foundation/Rockers match.

Ventura commentary exists in the WrestleMania Anthology set, as well as the WWE Championship DVD. Everywhere else, his commentary is cut where it applies, aside from 24/7.

As for Hart-DiBiase, the match was on WWF Wrestling Challenge, but Monsoon and Heenan spoke VERY little about the match, and hyped WrestleMania V instead, thus they didn't bother keeping the commentary on there. Still think they could've easily had Hart and DiBiase do an alternate commentary, but since production of that set was rushed anyway, time was probably an issue.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

From the chapter about Pillman from "Hardcore History: The Extremely Unauthorized Story of ECW" by Scott E. Williams:

By the end of his ECW appearances, Pillman was "buying commercial time" to plug his "900" telephone line.

Callers to that line found themselves on the receiving end of a previously recorded insult-laden promo by Pillman. The hotline tapered off soon enough, because people quickly burned out on being insulted, but it did about $10,000 a week for the first couple of weeks.

Brian died 9 years ago, October 5th 1997, an event that coincided the debut of Kane and my birthday. Time goes so fast.

A Sarge DVD might work, I'm just not buying a great documentary tho.

Why not a Rude/Hennig DVD of some sort? Big names, a bit of tragedy. Those are two "self-destruction" type names I could see. They should also do something where they trash some of the laughable gimmicks, you'd figure they could pull off a "worst of" like the old Coliseum videos.

Just because a wrestler died "young," doesn't mean that their DVD would fall into this self-fellating "Self-Destruction" category.

Rick Rude didn't self-destruct -- he more or less succumbed to the poor decisions he made when he was in the business (as in, he died of a heart attack suffered while out playing golf, I don't think he was still on any substances). Rude had a good career in the WWF and then had a lot of success in WCW. Not only that, but his whole gimmick was modernized when Val Venis debuted -- and Val was relatively successful using that gimmick during his main run in 98-99. It's not as if he went crazy like the Warrior or kept abusing drugs or had x-, y- or z-problem either. He got injured, he retired.

If anything, it should be the Tragedy of Rick Rude; a guy who was incredibly influential and revolutionary for his time in the business and never got the attention he deserved for the work and bumps he put in.

Rude was "in training" for a comeback when he died; I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that certain substances had a definite role in the cause of his death.

I think his heart attack was attributed to an overdose of GHB. Which is the date-rape drug, but also helps you burn fat or something.
