Just when you thought The Office couldn't provide a wronger [in the most right way possible] moment, there was tonight's episode, which blew Diversity Day out of the water (with a nice little callback to boot).

A lot of story advancement a nice throw-in by Ed Helms and a whole lot of funny...not that there's anything wrong with that. I shouldn't have worried about Season 2 being lightning in a bottle, since it's on very good footing right now.

Well well well. An ambitious and creative new direction. I had been skeptical about having the big showdown so soon, but after tonight I am intrigued by the new situation going forward. It's just bizarre because this kind of world has never existed in the setup that both Offices maintained throughout; Dawn was never not with Lee until the last five minutes of the show's existence. And now Roy looks like Gil Grissom. So now the question is how long until Scranton incorporates Stamford, Jim comes back, and Michael has to start answering to American Neil. WHAT HAPPENS THEN?

Also, Ed Helms is really great at this. Ed Helms can doing a mean talking head.

I thought Creed's camera time was the highlight of the show.

On a side note, who was the brunette female working in the Stamford branch? It's driving me crazy as to where I've seen her before. And yes, I've Googled & IMDBed, with no luck.

Were you the other person in America who watched "Boston Publlc"? Because she was on that.

I hope we see more of both Chip Esten and Ed Helms in the future. Is Oscar leaving? His paid vacation starts now, right?

I love Stanley's talk about the toaster, and how he has two toasters now. Roy's DUI picture was priceless, and I get the feeling that we might see a different (good) side of Roy this season.

I thought they really handled the Jim/Pam situation well. I was expecting something very different, and they twisted it even more when the Roy/Pam relationship (or lack thereof) was revealed.

Man I got to get me one of those sweet Gaydar doohickey's Jim sent Dwight. They might be living near me!

For me, this was probably the funniest Episode they've done. It should be interesting to watch two "offices" at the same time. Now I am off to Wal-Mart for a second toaster.

Decided to regive the show a chance after first watching it and not caring, then keep hearing about how funny it was. Queer as F#&* and Sharper Image being sold out of GayDar both had me on the floor, so I think a Season Pass is in order. Odd that nothing new as far as shows go is attracting my attention, but shows that are in their 2nd or 3rd seasons.

But I'm a fan of Ed Helms as well, so his appearance didn't hurt matters anyways, so count me aboard "The Office" bandwagon.

Fantastic season premiere! I enjoyed the Scranton office parts and was wanting more and more of the Stamford scenes. When a sitcom leaves you wanting more, you know it's a damn success.

I think the Oscar/Michael post-embrace "interaction" was one of the most painfully hysterical things I've seen since Mike kept calling Nikki in the movie Swingers. Both my girlfriend and I had trouble looking at the television.

Really great episode.

Easily the best show on TV. I was afraid they were gonna screw things up with the Pam/Jim thing. It didnt look like they left themselves any room to resolve that reasonably, but they pulled it off quite nicely. I love when a show is obviously thinking ahead and doesnt just pull crazy stunts for shock value.

The subtle hints that Jim missed Pam and vice versa made the episode for me. Seeing Pam look up all the time to (now) Ryan's desk every so often,or Jim looking to the seat beside him when it was empty...its kind of heartwrenching.

The added footage from Casino Night was an added bonus, too.

Nicer still was a subtle callback to the season finale:
-Back then, a talking head with Michael mentioning that "the hero got the girl. Who saw that coming? I did." segued directly into The Kiss.
-Now, Michael commenting about how "When two people find each other, what should stand in their way?" segues right into Jim sitting with an empty chair next to him in Stamford.

Sorry if this comes off like a jerk, but how is any of that subtle? I know what you guys mean, I just can't see how it's not beating us over the head. They make it so obvious.

Either way, they're advancing the storyline very quickly and appropriately.

Great start to the season.

As tough as it was on Pam/Jim/Roy - I think the real tragedy in the whole love triangle is that "Scrantonicity" did not get to play at the wedding. How is Kevin dealing with all of this ?

I have always hated Cornell.

OlFuzzyBastard, here is at least one more person who watched (and liked) Boston Public. But I still couldn't figure out who she was.
That kiss had my sides aching, and when Dwight jumped up to kiss him too, I nearly lost it!
I think Stanley and Creed had 1 line each, and they were both home runs.
"That's what she said...that's what HE said." See, he's learning. Awesome premiere.

I have a feeling that every episode, the following words will be uttered in the Stamford office: "...because of the Scranton office..."

Before watching the premiere, I broke out Season 2 and watched "Casino Night". I can't believe that they left something out of the episode and only put it in the deleted scenes:

Meredith: "I can never remember the names of the men I've had sex with"
Dealer: "Um, I am your vet."
Meredith: "Oh....."
Dealer: "Yeah, we had sex out in the parking lot."

This show was the best Office episode yet. From the opening with Dwight (*BOO-HOO-HOO-HOOO*) thru the whole episode, just non-stop funny. "Yeah. That'll show 'em."

I loved the "We had to freeze all the food" moment, especially after eating leftover food for a week after our wedding.

Also loved that they finally showed the ripple effect that Scranton has on the rest of the company. Thanks to Michael's idiocy, the rest of the company has to have further diversity training. This is my current company in a nutshell.

"Come on Dwight, couldn't you picture her with another woman?" *grin*

Finally, loved Kevin's non-stop giggling. I was already giggling at that point myself, that just killed me.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

THIS WEEK IN TV * Um, so I guess it's the State of the Union Address on Tuesday? Obviously this throws the television schedule out of order once again. On Tuesday, we do get new episodes of Homeland Security USA, a truncated Primetime: What Would You Do?...
