(No takers yet on this yet? I'm suprised.)

Am I the only one who thinks that there are just 3 (OK, 2.5, but I'll be kind & round up.) realistic finalists here? Are there really any actual contenders other than Magni, Dilana & Lukas? Not that there aren't others who are talented individuals. But from the fundamental premise that we're looking for a front *person* for those 3 guys, putting out a CD in November, & playing places like Wembley, is there really anybody else?

If that's the case, I'd be much more interested in bagging the format, dismissing everybody else next week, pick your real winner, & give us more docu-reality "Making Supernova".

And by the way, is Dilana incredibly amazing, or whuuut?

Dilana - voice wise, reminds me of the singer from 4 non blondes. I don't know how long she's been doing it, but it seems she punishes her voice every time. Could she stand up to a multi month tour?
I like Toby, but I agree with Dave Navarro, when he used the megaphone this week (for us) it sucked.
I simply can't understand why Zayra is still around. She has no discernable talent at all.
In the end, I don't think it matters who they end up with from the leading contenders, it will still be Tommy's band. When he was on drums last week, no one cared who was singing.

This show has been a guilty pleasure for me. I don't see Supernova as being a long-term band. Maybe a tour, that New Year's Eve show, a live CD/DVD, and that's it. I doubt we're talking about the band in a year's time. That being said, it can be a good stepping stone for whoever wins.

I rank the final eight thusly:

8. Zayra
7. Magni
6. Patrice
5. Ryan
4. Toby
3. Storm
2. Dilana
1. Lukas

Zayra's only around for the entertainment and her fashion choices. She'll be gone before the competition gets too serious. Magni, Patrice and Ryan have grown on me as the weeks have gone by, but they can't credibly front the band. Toby at his best is very good, but he has been inconsistent in his performances. I can picture any of my top three in front of Clarke, Newsted and Lee. Storm is a hell of an entertainer, and Dilana and Lukas have awesome voices.

I wonder if there's a specific reason why no one has done a song yet by G n' R, Crue, or Metallica. That's something I'd really like to see.

To be honest, I can't really picture any of those contestants fronting that band.

I hadn't really been a huge fan of Mangi or Lukas, but they sure as hell brought it this week.

I thought Toby was the front runner at the start of the series, but he's kinda taken a backseat over the past couple of weeks.

I cannot stand lukas. He is terrible and he has got to go.

If anything I see Magni fronting the band.

I'd say Dilana is most likely, with Magni and Lukas right behind her. As long as those three don't end up competing on a Wednesday night against Zayra, they'll end up the final choices...

I'm slowly getting into it, and cannot stand Lukas...I just dont see how he'd fit, especially after how he bombed the song from last week.

I think Magni is a solid performer, but I think he's one of those top 3 guys that will end up being a runner up.

I really liked Ryan last week, and this week as well, but him ending up in the bottom 3 kinda makes me think that viewers don't like him enough for him to make it.

Goon hits on a valid point though, this doesn't seem like a band that will last and last..if they make 2 albums, they're doin good.

Y'know, the only contestant I can see hanging with these guys is Storm. She's the only crazy eyed, hotel room trashing, substance abusing ROCK STAR! out of the contestants, IMO.

All the others seem like marketing interns dressed up like rockers, or something. I don't get the feeling that THEY feel like rock stars, which is the key to me.

Well all right then -- I guess it's not a definitive slam dunk. Just kinda-sorta. :-)

I never picked up on that, but I'll pay particular attention now.

Zayra is probably going to go back to wherever she came from as a great, regional pop star. (Pop, not rock. In a smaller, niche market.) Meanwhile, she's around to keep the fringe pop-rock audience watching. And the 15-year-old boys.

I think one of the key points to having one of the band sit in is exactly to see if the lead singer gets overrun by a full-on pro. It's not just Tommy (banging on the drums like a chimpanzee :-) ), but Jason ("CRUSH it!") too. None of these guys are going to want a lead singer for whom they have to back off.

Me too. I don't remember -- did they have songs from any of those bands last season either? It may just be a matter of getting rights to any of those bands' music.

I'm not a big fan of Lukas either, but neo-metal-punk may be what they're looking for. He does what he does really well -- I find it pretty specialised, but that may be OK.

The thing about Magni is that he has a powerful presence onstage, & can really do that "command the audience" thing. The last couple of weeks, he's been doing the mellow, sing-to-the-family thing. Jaded wrestling fan that I am, I wonder if that's totally legit, or a little nudging by the producers to drop him just a little below the radar, so he doesn't seem too dominant throughout. We'll see how that develops.

It would be fabulously cool if Dilana got the gig, but I'm still skeptical about them actually picking a woman, no matter how good. I'll buy her solo album regardless.

Interesting thought. But remember these 3 guys are old rock stars. Been there, done that. Doesn't mean there isn't partying, but they'e got to be past the frenetic, crazed phase. Is it going to work out better for them to have somebody who's a little more mature (-acting) & professional? We'll see.

Count me among the guilty pleasure crowd. Or at least I started that way; now I'm hooked.

I also believe Magni, Dilana, and Lukas are the only three that have a real chance, with Ryan and Toby having outside shots. Maybe Storm could pull through, but I don't see it happening.

I'd have a hard time choosing between Dilana and Magni. Lukas I don't like, but I understand why he might be the pick. I don't think Dilana is that hard on her voice, I think she's just naturally got a voice so husky it could pull a dogsled. She can wail, and wail loudly, without sounding to me like she's straining for anything other than the right pitch. Lukas sounds like he's squeezing kittens in a latex bag when he tries to do the same thing (notable exception for "Creep" last week).

And Zayra needs to go away. Yes, she's fun to look at, but after her "867-5309" and especially her "All the Young Dudes" I've had enough. And though I'm well aware that all my reasons for hating her version of the latter are overly "purist", there are some things I can't forgive

It was a good call getting rid of Zayra this week, although for the first time, I actually enjoyed her performance (and that crazy elimination song).

The "debut" of Supernova, with Dilana on vocals, was eh. "Leave the Lights On" sounded like a generic 80s rocker song. The dancing girls, while nice to look at, were unnecessary.

The good thing about the stripped-down versions is that you really heard some vocal weaknesses, particularly in Lukas. I'm no longer convinced he's the guy for the band. Storm's performance of "I Will Survive"-I couldn't figure out if she was deliberately trying to suck or not.

I'm pretty sure Patrice will be the next to go.

Supernova is the type of band that should be fronted by a guy like Josh Todd of Buckcherry ... unfortunately, there's no contestant like that ... not even close.

No one has done a song by GnR because no one can sing like Axl well enough to pull it off. It will all sound second rate (i.e. Sheryl Crow). No one wants to sing like Hetfield. And any halfway decent metal singer with enough booze in him/her can sing like Vince.

If Ryan Star doesn't win this thing, it's a travesty.

Is it just me, or is it basically "Nothin' But a Good Time" by Poison? I was suprised at how "bippity-bop" the song was for these guys. But Dilana did just right with it -- sell it for what it is, & don't try to overwork it. There was one useful thing about the go-go dancers -- it let Dilana demonstrate her stage presence. She is never going to get lost up there, regardless of the spectacle going on around her.

I was actually suprised that it was Zayra who was booted rather than Patrice this time. And I'm with Goon -- you pretty much have to try to be as awful as Storm's "I Will Survive" was.

(... and then, after the next week's shows ...)

Jimi Hendrix' "Fire"?? I was skeptical. It was really good! The House Band (Let's hear it for the House Band!) did it justice too. Except for the backup vocals -- that didn't quite work, but in a kinda cute way. :-)

And I liked Magni's "Teen Spirit" a lot too. He was absolutely all in on that, but still totally under control. That's good.

I'm baffled about Magni being in the bottom 3 for 2 weeks in a row. All I can think is that a lot of the Dilana fans also like him as #2, so he gets shut out. We'll see if the producer's tease of a Dilana heel turn has any effect on the voting.

Patrice leaving was overdue. She's got a fine voice, but she's not at all appropriate for big-stage rock.

I thought punk-boy-Lukas was pretty weak this time -- he's losing ground as we go along.

Toby fronting the band was OK, but nothing I found particularly wowie-zowie either. (There were a couple of points where the "I know-oh-wo-oh-oh" was making me a little carsick.)

I think I have a similar reaction to Toby, Ryan & Storm: if I wandered into a bar, & any of their bands was playing, I'd hang out & enjoy the show. But, would I spring $50, $100 or more for tickets? Noooo.

Patrice did indeed get the hook this week, although she has grown on me throughout the competition.

I suppose the story this week was about Dilana going mental and taking shots at Ryan and Lukas. Either she's having a bad week or she has been feeling threatened as the frontrunner. It certainly worked against her, as no band would want a thin-skinned emotional singer leading them on.

With the second Supernova song, again it seemed underwhelming and gave me the thought that this may not be a prize worth winning. I would rather hear Ryan's original song than Supernova's generic schlock.

With this final six, I think whoever goes next will be a shock, as all have proven themselves as more than capable. My guess would be Magni if he is in the bottom three again.

Ryan's had the best original song to date, and I think after he performed it, Dilana definitely was feeling threatened, if not jealous. The guy had had 2 of the past 3 encores, and was one of the first group to be able to perform his original work.

He's really the only one I see that really fits, as sexist as this sounds, none of the girls look right with the band.

I also hope he doesn't get his chance to perform with the band until near the end, so that his performance stays fresher in the audience's mind if he is able to hold on until the finals.

Sadly, it was Ryan who took the fall this week, as Tommy Lee said he wasn't the best fit for the band. Sad, too, after Ryan gave two impressive performances. I loved his take on "Baba O'Reilly". I think Storm might have hit the end of the road, as she has failed to impress since "Anything, Anything" and you can only look at naked pictures of her on the internet for so long. I know this from experience.

The Supernova song this week was…decent, at least in the chorus. I'm still thinking that the best long-term career might come out of finishing second in this competition.

This week the drama has been around rumors that the winner has already been chosen. (Spoiler if you believe it to be the case)

Two weeks left!

Wait, you can? I've searched because I thought they might be out there, but no such luck ...

Since Ryan stepped up his game, I've said that he was be better suited as a solo artist.

That Aussie guy rocked tonite. If he doesnt win it, its a shame. The little Canadian dude was horrible.
The rest of the performances were okay, Dilana was good as usual, although I still hate her voice, she does command an audience.

It was interesting watching Gilby during the songwriting sessions, and listening to his comments it seems they (or he at least) have pretty strong opinions on all the contestants.
Performances are tonight for me.
I'm getting more and more sick of Dilana. She has her "crazy" voice for every other song and I'm hating that.
