According to MSBNC & Forbes.com (msnbc.msn.com), Milwaukee, not Las Vegas, is America's Drunkest City. The survey considered state laws, number of drinkers, number of heavy drinkers, number of binge drinkers and alcoholism in their calculations.

1. Milwaukee
2. Minneapolis / St. Paul
3. Columbus, OH (especially after they lose to Michigan in anything)
4. Boston (especially last weekend)
5. Austin, TX

some others of note from the article -

14. Las Vegas
24. New Orleans
33. Miami (Lindsay Lohan must have been out of town)

Denver dropped out of the Top 5 in 1988 when I finally quit drinking........

You can see all 35 (in a slow, annoying slide show) here. Nashville was 35th out of the 35 cities.

Also, 5 of the Top 7 were Midwestern cities, with Chicago and Cleveland at 6th and 7th.

Another Top Cities thing I saw recently was a ranking of the Angriest Cities, according to Men's Health. Apparently Florida is an angry place, taking 5 of the 12 angriest cities. Nashville was the 5th angriest. Maybe they need to drink more.

Least angriest? Portland, OR; Corpus Christi, TX; Fargo, ND; Bangor, ME; and Manchester, NH.

This does not suprise me in the least. All my supervisory folks live in MKE and all of our events involve drinking - a lot. I ONLY drink in MKE - and maybe in First Class when I want to sleep.

As someone said on another message board (mnspeak.com), Forbes is becoming the VH-1 of magazines. (Well, THEY said "journalism" but I am paraphrasing... so as to pretend that really I said it.)

If the Twin Cities are #2, will we have to try harder?

I'm curious, if they do this every year, where was New Orleans on last year's list?

Not surprised about Austin, although I am surprised that Las Vegas or even Atlantic City wouldn't be higher, but then again, I'm guessing you dont wanna be too sloshed when you're gambling away that rent money.

This doesn't seem right. NJ doesn't appear on the list of Angries Cities until #51? And Florida? What are they angry about there? Not enough selection on the Early Bird Menu? Shuffleboard Court turf wars? Fights at the Winn Dixie over the last bottle of Metemucil?? (ha-cha-cha-cha...)
