Picked it up last night at Midnight, since I really wanted my Madden Fix...
Going in I didnt think the lead blocker thing would be that good, but it's a fun little twist on the running game, especially in the spots where the defender is blocking one big hole, and you use the blocker to clear it, and then the runner to drive through it.
The gameplay seems a bit quicker, which is nice.
Some new tackle animations, and the rest is what you would expect from Madden. The players dont look as crisp as last year, but I partially wonder if that's due to all the work for the 360.
All in all, I'm enjoying it a lot better than 06, especially since the removal of the passing cone, which is off off, not just off when you have the ball.
Played it on the 360 this afternoon at my friends house. Love all the detail like the helmet scuff marks as the game progresses and small stuff like that. We didn't like that when head to head, you only get the A button to pick plays, basically the other person can see your play, very annoying. Second, getting used to the sprint button on the shoulder, I dove like 6 times till I got the hang of it. Third, ran a kickoff TD twice in one game, I'm still saying it was more of luck than anything but it was easy, and as we know last year, if you did a kickoff TD twice a season you were lucky. More playing tommorow, trying to get the hang of the lead blocker and the hot route system.

To bluff, hit X on the play you want to call, then hit A on the play you want him to think he's seeing you to call.
IIRC, Y is a fake bluff. No matter what you call with Y, your play will be the A play (or X if you hit that before A).
That's how it was in '06 and they carried it over to '07. Blew out my buddy 50-22 with my Skins over his Ravens.
I am amazed at the player ratings. Chris Cooley is a rated 98 FB for the Skins.

My brother and I had 3 kickoff returns for touchdowns IN THE SAME GAME. The thing that irritated me about it was that we just ran straight forward, not even making any cuts. Needless to say that it's something that we were not happy about.
Did you move the A.I up to All-Pro? If you left it on Pro, expect very lazy A.I.

Has anyone played the HOF mode yet? How crazy is this thing? The focus is totally on your player when you're on the field. You don't even have to play the game when your guy isn't on the field, you can just sim it.
The camera angle, even when you're the QB, is totally different from regular Madden. You can't see downfield for shit when you're passing. When you're on defense, you're looking at it from the other side of the ball. If you're a corner matched on somebody, all you see is the receiver. If you're a receiver, you could run your route, waving your arm in the air to say you're open, only for it to suddenly go "TOUCHDOWN" because apparently the QB threw to someone else. Or ran it himself, who knows, you can't see it anyway.
Seems like it would take some getting used to, that's all I'm saying. But the e-mails from your mom are a nice touch.

Which is cool, and it's a viewpoint you never see (unless you're really bored and watch CPU vs CPU games) and you still get the follow the flow of the action - but I wish there was an option to just shows plays you're involved in and fast forward thru all uninvolved in. If I could run thru a Superstar player-only game in about half the time of a normal game, it'd be a cool option and I'd play it more. As is, it seems as long as a normal game, with long sections of time where you're just sitting and waiting to get in.
While I'm thinking about dead time - the Role idea is okay, but that's really got to be something selectable thru the pause menu only after the first drive, not popping up and forcing me to reselect each and every drive.
It's a step forward but not a big enough step for me. I've been doing Superstar mode, but simming mostly and just playing 1 game a year, because it's not worth the time to get around the same stats you're getting anyway.

Yea, I tried a CB first, and it's not quite unplayable, but it's really really really tough and not possibly worth the effort. HB is much better, but it's still quite a pain to catch out of the backfield. I would think DL might work as well, but stuff like being a LB, where you're getting a much smaller field of vision than usual, are really tough tow ork with.
Another thing I've noticed is, at least for my HB, they'll stick him into the game at odd positions if there's injuries. Like, I've been center on the kicking team when there's been a lot of OL injuries, and third saftey in Quarters defense when there's DB injuries. In normal game play, when you don't have enough players at a position because people are hurt, they'll grab another logical position to fill-in, but they seem to just grab your Superstar here. Which actually turns out annoyingly bad at times - my HB player's Influence meter goes up and down based on how the offense on the field is doing (instead of just you, which is kinda dumb), but if he's put on defense for a play and the defense stops the offense, down goes the meter.
I'm not in love with the Superstar mode, but I'm playing it out in hopes to get a guy in the HOF, to see what happens. I hope it doesn't suck.
You know what does suck, though? Playing online against random strangers! Let me tell, I don't know why I bother and the general idea of online gaming in anything has been soured on me because there's so much junk to deal with between players who drop out during a game and buggy servers. My experience with Madden has been just the same.
TAKE 1: Try a 4 man tournament. I choose the Seahawks, my first round opponent picks the Lions for whatever reason. I have no money plays at this point and suck to a great extent for the first half, but rally and tie it up, before the Lions miss a 38ish FG which would've won the game. I get the ball first in OT, drive, and bust a big play with Shaun Alexander for a sure TD and...
Lions player disconnects, just as the TD is registry. PUNK. I'm credited with the win (my record says the TD counted, the tournament listing give me a 2-0 win.) I figure, at least I can get a finish to a game in the finals, so I check the tournament bracket - and find out the other two teams both withdrew, so I win. Sorta.
TAKE 2: Enter a 32 team tournament, figuring, even I got one loser, I should get a good game somewhere. I should've read the setup closer, I guess - first guy has a bad disconnect ratio and proves it by disconnecting from the game 1:00 (with a 0-0 score, so what the heck was his problem.) Each round goes for two hours (which is twice as long as neccesary), so I've got 1:45 to kill - and my opponent for round 2 never shows. A half hour into waiting for my round 3 opponent to show, and over 4 horus since I got to play 1 minute of game action, I give up. But because no one would show up, that's a withdrawl on my account. I should've just left the PS2 going; I would've won the whole thing by forfiet.
I don't think I really have a point here (except playing random people is for SUCKERS even I may give it another try ), I just wanted to complain a bunch.
I bought this game a week ago and haven't had the time to open the package. I suck.
Any way to change the stupid kicking option:?
