Funny that NC lets you put punctuation on plates.

A couple years back I see this guy in a sedan that totally looks like an old-school sysadmin type. The license plate confirmed it: RTFM

For a while, one of my friends had a license plate that read

JEDINGT

...which was supposed to mean Jedi Knight. This lasted up until a mutual friend saw his license plate for the first time and said, "Is that 'Jedi Nugget'?" He promptly changed the plate.

That's almost as bad as a guy I know in Ohio that has one that reads "YIFF".

If you know what that means, you know why it's not the best thing to have on a license plate.

I went and looked it up on wikipedia, and...that is creepy.

I'm still surprised I still haven't seen a "SKEET" tag yet.

Hate to drag an old thread out of mothballs, but...

I just happened to see this one on my way to work today, and I don't think it was a coincidence.

I'm somewhat surprised that it was approved by PennDOT.

My girlfriend lived across the street from a synagogue in Brookline MA that had an enormous truck always parked in front of it with the plate "MOHEL".

Youch.

Also, Richard Rosenthal followed my mentor/ high school drama teacher home from the movies one night because his random plate number was "357 BAN". The conversation in the driveway started with gun control and ended with the guy breaking down and admitting to Hudson Massachusetts police what he'd done a few hours before.

That was a scary couple of days.

Yesterday I was following a guy who had "409" on his plate, with a frame that said "The Beach Boys song" above it and "Not the Cleaner" below it.

I saw "PIEMAN" today. A Maine veteran's plate.

Could Maine have TWO Piemen?

Maine must have two piemen! That was not me that you saw today. I do not have a plate with that moniker on it.
