OPENING: Wow, Vince and Shane are going all out...they're in Elvis garb.

It's time to WAKE UP it's Monday Night Raw from Memphis, TN!

Out come Trish it's looks as if we have a womens match first for the Title. Out comes Mickie before the bell rings we get Edge saying this match is over. He's taking over RAW and apparently it's not fair for him to take on Cena. Edge is rolling why is Trish still in the background. Ok, he's disecting the promotional poster. This is a bit original. Ok, I see where this is going. He's wants to be on the new piss poor magazine. So, Edge is going to prove he's a winner beating Cena. Hey Lita is on the mic. Trish a no talent "slut"? Umm...ok. Spear with the help of Edge. Carlito! For the save...wait Edge SPEAR! I like Carlito and Trish connection. Keeps things spicey until Trish trots off. What a way to kill 15 minutes of Raw. Tad bit on the boring side? Hmm...I've got two TV's should I flip one?

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: Umm...Nitro and Melina is out and well she just did the pose on the announce table. I'm surprised King isn't licking the announce table where she was. Hey, Shelton is out. Number one contenders match for the IC belt. Whoa...it's KANE! Long time no, other than on ECW, see Kane! Hey, holy crap springboard off the rope into bulldog and gets a quick two count. No pyro for Kane. Kane already working over Shelton. Whip to the rope...sidewalk slam. Going the top rope. JR: Roadkill jacket refering to Nitro. Clothesline from the top. Going for the Chokeslam. No counter...another counter into a DDT on Kane. Two count. Back the corner again. Drop toe hold into the top turnbuckle. CHOKESLAM TO HELL! 1...2...3!!! You're WINNER Kane. Pyro! Kane is the IC contender. Hmm...Kane getting another run with a belt? This could be good then again. So Kane is in the IC picture now. Summerslam promo.

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: The RAW Austraila Tour. That's cool. Cena out...grabs a mic...Hold on hold on hold on. He's wound up? WHOA! Lita 7-11 Slurpee's for herpies. Nice...that just great. Great graphics tonight. Well Cena is done talking and "Well dressed buzz kill." it's Coachman. The executive assistant. Well, he's booking a match. Carlito and Trish vs Edge and Lita. So, Coachman is going to feed someone to Cena. Viscera is going to take on Cena. We get the run in before match.

***AD BREAK***

We're back: Cena about to get squashed ouch. Vis ready to do the train...and crushes Cena in the corner. Cross body that fails by Cena...oh Cena battles back a big FU. Cena wins...who didn't expect it?

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: Hey it's Vince saying HBK been stalking Vince. Carlito...gets Kissed...did that just happen? Hey Shane going Shawn hunting. Highlanders! Nope haven'ts seen HBK. Hi...hello Shane gets attacked. Cops try to pull him off...

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: HBK going to jail because he struck an officer. HHH show up late...hey he's can't go but he has to. Hey, the Mixed tag match it up. Edge and Lita are out. Here comes Carlito and Trish. Punches in the corner...Carlito hits an arm breaker? Turned head at wrong time. Cover for two. Edge working over Carlito in the corner. In the middled...knee lift by Carlito and Clothesline. Hey it's time for the women. Edge tags Lita and Carlito tags Trish. Lou Thez press inot the punches. Reverse elbow stops Trish. Going for the top rope move but Edge block it and Lita hits a top rope clothesline. Lita doing a sleeper/chin lock on Trish. Lita controling the match. WTF Memphis crowd: Edge is Gay? Ok, hey there all in the ring. Double dropkick sends us to there run in...

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: Carlito and Edge are back in the ring. Carlito sleeping on the canvas working his way up. Shots to the stomach of Edge. Back flip over Edge...Backcracker attempt...NO blocked. Carlito on the outside. Carlito into the edge of the ring. Jawbreaker...reverse elbow. Both Edge and Carlito down. JR: "A little bit old school." Women in...clotheslines, dropkick. Chops by Trish. Spinebuster out of reversing a DDT. Carlito moves Edge spear to Trish. Lita going for the cover. 1...2...3! Edge and Lita pull off the win. Nice the Umaga graphic now has Undefeated. Next and update on the couch injury of Hulk Hogan.

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: Smackdown Rebound...Undertaker challenges Kahli to a match at Summerslam. Orton uses his injury to his favor. Orton taking on Lalwer. What the...WHOO! Ric Flair...he brings Foley is Good to the ring with him. He rants over Foley...now Mick is out saying Summerslam match would be good. Mick isn't going to do it. Flair now going to his Hardcore Legend. Whoa...Flair mentioning his pay check is nice. I quit match in Summerslam with Foley and Flair. Flair: May one of us bleed to death.

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: Hey, Orton knows best from last week. Orton is out. We await the Jerry "The King" Lawler. WOW what white tights! I'm blinded! Good guys wear white? :-D This isn't going to last long. Orton downstairs. Back body drop. Orton mounting King with punches. Chin lock. Ref frightened...LOW BLOW into RKO. 1...2...3!

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: What Diva search? This better go about five minutes. Let see if the Miz can talk this week. So far so good. Ok ladies lets get this over with bye bye to another blondy and busty wantabe. Oh crap Miz has a surprise. Dis the Diva...no we don't need this. Hey Summerslam rundown. Diss the diva...that was better in years past.

***AD BREAK***

We're Back: Umaga vs "King Of Kings" "The Game" "DX" Triple H. There is Umaga and crew. HHH is in the ring. Umaga taking it to HHH. Whip across the ring. Elbow to Umaga. Sends Umaga to the outside. Into the post. Clothesline in the corner by HHH. Spin wheel kick to HHH by Umaga. Tree of woa...headbutt to Triple H. Butt crush to HHH. Headbutt to HHH...just a glancing headbutt. Power out of the Pedigree...spinebuster...2 count. With Shane interference. Spinebuster to Shane. Spike to HHH...1...2...3! Umaga is on a role. Who's still plays fantasy? Shane and Vince working over HHH. Vince a Pedigree! We're out at about 11:08pm with Vince and Shane walking out of RAW trying to destroy DX.

Ok, fair RAW nothing to impressive. Foley/Flair set for Summerslam.

I get 310 miles, used to only get 260, on 3/4 a tank of gas. Please go ahead and try it. I've seen a major improvement in my mileage

-I Quit Match: Mick Foley vs. Ric Flair
-Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio

Not a bad Raw. Like the opening promo.
Cena sure does suck both on the mike and wrestling. Well, at least he didn't use his crap ass usual finisher (why does someone who can FU Show and Vis use a crappy submission?).
Liked the Edge/Lita vs. Carlito/Trish. Hopefully this is going somewhere.
Flair vs. Foley was weaker than the last few weeks but no bad.
Orton vs. Lawler sucked but what can you expect?
The main event was ok.
All in all not too bad.

Flair and Foley better not attempt to recreate Flair/Funk, as Foley isn't Funk of '89, and Flair isn't a shell of Flair '89. If they had a cage, they could do a derivative of Magnum/Tully '85 and just beat the shit out of each other. Hopefully, this isn't like another Foley I Quit match where an out was developed, and someone actually does say I Quit during the match.
About time someone jumped Kane when he was going for the pyro.
About time someone used the pedigree on Trip.
When Jerry Lawler comes to the ring in Memphis wearing all white, your mind automatically expects that the white will turn into crimson before the night is over. And they couldn't at least tease a piledriver spot? Did Orton lowblow Lawler because he wouldn't tell him where the hot Junior High spots are in Memphis?
I'd rather have seen Kamala than the former King Mabel.
Shouldn't Umaga challenge for the tag titles on his own, as he has accomplished by himself what 5 members of the Spirit Squad could not do collectively.
They seemed to forget a pretty important match from Shea in the This Week in Wrestling History segment. Cage/Sammartino/Founder of LarryLand. Might have been the main event that night.
Anyway expect Honky to complain that the McMahon's were mocking him in the opening?

Vince and Shane as Elvis? Ugh....No surprise that Trish gets punked out what with her contract situation and all. A pretty good segment by Edge, and he does have a point....Why did they add Kane to this Shelton/Nitro feud?....Cena's segment wasn't that great. So is the Vis/Haas/Lillian thing over with now?....I'm surprised Lita/Trish got so much time during the mixed tag match. Alright action....

I was hoping Flair would do something more EXTREME to goad Foley into a SummerSlam match....Lawler/Orton was shorter than I thought it would be....I liked how JR ignored the divas segment after it was over. Good thing....I thought they'd protect Umaga a little more in these last two matches than they have. But JR seemed to be in hog heaven getting his lines in about how big Umaga is and how devestating.

Good Raw, now wasted segments, no dead spots with the Squad or Highlanders or the other scrubs. Cut way down on DX and gave Edge stuff to do. This is probably as good as Raw gets.

Somebody mentioned last week that one of the writers felt that Flair couldn't cut a promo. I think I am beginning to figure out why that writer feels that way. It just might be that Flair can't cut a promo, not anymore. It's becoming clear to me that Flair's mind is beginning to go. I mean, for goodness sake, the man threw down the microphone and started talking! And while he almost stayed on point before Foley arrived, once Foley got there, Flair was just meandering all over the place. Clearly Flair was suppose to challenge Foley to an "I Quit" match (among other things), not the other way around. But Flair basically just said a bunch a words that didn't make sense, leaving Foley not only having to make his own points, but Flair's points as well. And truthfully, that's been the case this whole feud.

Ric Flair isn't the man he once was in the ring. But right now, he's not the man he once was outside the ring either. But he's still Ric Flair, so maybe that's enough. But besides his legacy, I don't think he's bringing much to the table.

Yeah, Foley definitely caved in too easily. "I won't go against my word, blah blah blah," then out of no where "me and you, I quit at summerslam."

He sure couldn't wait to point out that Umaga needed help to score the win. Couple that with HHH having him pinned before Vince interfered, and it would seem Umaga has lost a lot of momentum these last two weeks. Cheating and needing interference are all good and well for heels like Edge or Nitro, but they spent weeks and weeks building Umaga up as unstoppable and pretty fucking scary, but now he might as well have lost to Triple H (not to mention HBK).

EDIT: In other news, Cena looked pretty weak against Vis, but I think Edge had a good night. Carlito is looking better every week. And where the hell did the involvement from Kane come from? What the hell was the point of all those Benjamin/Nitro/Carlito matches in various combinations if they were going with Kane/Nitro?

Definitely an off week this week. Hopefully next week does a little better to get me excited for Summerslam.

I would not be a bit surprised if the individuals on the team from your area were sexually attracted to members of their own gender. That is how ineffective they are on the field of battle.

I did not see a post on this , Why did J.R. bring up at the very beginning of the show something about a review on Kids and wrestling violence? Was there a new review? Did I miss a segment on the explanation?

Anybody getting WCW/Goldberg flashbacks on this whole Umaga push?

Flair/Foley I quit match maybe one of the best matches the WWE has had in a while considering both seem to hate each other.

Thanks BucsFan!

http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/wakeforeststudy

On Monday, research performed at Wake Forest University back in 1999 was released in the August issue of Pediatrics, claiming correlation between viewership of professional wrestling and “date-fighting” among teenagers.

Such correlation is something that Robert Thompson, Ph.D., director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University, finds problematic when drawing conclusions to the findings of the Wake Forest researchers.

“What always worries me about these kinds of studies is that they imply a cause; this study claims nothing more than a correlation,” said Thompson. “So many people immediately see these studies, and they suggest that wrestling is causing these things, and I don’t think that is a done deal by any stretch of the imagination.”

Researchers conducted their initial interviews in the fall of 1999, sampling 2,228 male and female high school students. They concluded that there was an association between teenagers who watched wrestling on television and those who had a tendency toward violence, including fighting on dates and carrying weapons

Vince had a pretty adament response:

“We regret that this seven year old junk science was re-issued. It was junk science then, and is junk science now. It took them seven years to get someone to actually read it and it hasn't even been subjected to a peer review. There is nothing new in the study, and we think it is recycled garbage put forward by some obscure professor who finally got someone to read his paper and is trying to get his name in the media."

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

Isn't this the same study that Mick Foley addresses head-on (and completely debunks in the process) in his second book?

You'd think they'd understand the meaning of the phrase "dated material"... yeesh.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Okay, those were very good points.

I think some people are confusing a lack of lucidity with not reciting an overly scripted, word-for-word, bad pun and punchline-based promos. Sentences get flubbed here and there but the emotion is infinitely better than any other promo you get on WWE TV. Whose interview of any you'll see this month got the most people interested in seeing their match at SummerSlam? Flair's by a longshot. Foley is woo, the best thing going today, but these last two weeks Flair has been great too.

Did the WWE website actually advertise that Mickie James/Trish match ? If so, why did they even bother ? That's just evil.

The writers scrapped the Viscera/Haas team already ? Not that I really care, but they never even attempted to give it a chance.

I think tonite Shelton just slipped down a few rings of importance in the eyes of the writers and bookers.

Jerry Lawler looked like he was getting ready to be shot into space with that distracting all-white outfit.

Ref gets yanked out of the ring while he is counting a pin and does not call for the disqualification ? I know it's happened before, but I think it's still stupid and idiotic.

Lines of the night:

#1. Edge ripping on the SummerSlam poster.
#2. Highlander Robbie introducing himself to Shane.
#3. (Lawler) "I think Edge just lost a few of his 60 teeth."

A blah RAW for me tonite.

I'm surprised that as much as Cena gets X-Pac heat from the Smarks that nobody has mentioned his FU on Vis. Like him or hate him -- that was as impressive as Brock F5'ing Big Show.

My other surprise? No one has pointed (no pun intended) this out:

I can't see how any RAW could be good when it's started with a just plain bad sketch with the McMahon's and the Elvis impersonations. It wasn't funny, it just screamed we like being on TV. Ugh.

I thought it might turn around after the Edge segment. He made some valid points about the happenings, and now it seems like it's helping the angle that he doesn't get respect. Nice segment setting up Carlito/Trish v. Edge/Lita for later on.

Then it rehits the crapper, when Kane, who has been largely MIA lately, jumping to the top of the IC picture over both Benjamin and Carlito? Nitro and Kane isn't even a match that slightly interests me, especially after seeing good match after good match being put on by Nitro/Shelton/Carlito.

Then we have Vis and Cena, and I'm sure the thought crossed the minds of many about him trying to F-U Vis. But to actually see him do it, and not only do it, but be able to hold him on his shoulders for 3-5 second is awesome, and not only that, he got him up on the first try, and he got him unloaded for lack of a better term cleanly. Awesome, and even if we've seen him do it to Show, it's still impressive.

The rest of it was just kind of there for me, but Flair beating Foley's book up was great, and I'm looking forward to FOley/Flair I Quit, and I was impressed by the Spear Trish took by Edge. That looked brutal.

I think Nitro/Kane will be okay, since I doubt they're crazy enough to put Kane over Nitro. No, it won't be anywhere near as good as Nitro/Shelton would be, and not PPV quality -- but I'd rather not have a heel/heel match or have Shelton suddenly turn face either.

And I totally wanna see Foley and Flair do an I Quit match now.

Since they've made a running angle out of the IC #1 contender spot changing hands every week, I expect we'll end up at a 4 corner match between Nitro and Carlito, Benjamin and Kane.

Umaga has now beaten Cena, Michaels and H in consecutive weeks. I guess they're serious about putting him in the main event spot. It might work for a B PPV, but I don't see him becoming a A player. I don't get the talk about how these matches weakened him. He beat the top three faces in the company. NOBODY on the planet would be put over the three clean, especially since the three are expected to carry Summerslam's buyrate.

Oh, and they should totally pair up Mickie James as Edge's new valet after Lita leaves.

This was a mistake on Shelton's part. Whenever Kane fires his pyro at the beginning of his match, he's almost guaranteed to lose.

Shelton stood a much better chance of winning if he'd let Kane fire his pyro off.

I missed Raw last night for the 1st time in years. Instead, I caught Tom Waits in concert. I stand by my decision.
Yet, from the looks of things, it appears that I "missed" nothing. Perhaps my wrestling addiction is not as bad as I thought ti was.
