I'm going to try this, and maybe it'll work, and maybe it won't.
If you happen to catch one of the movies opening this week, and you happen to have some sort of opinion on it, perhaps you would be so good as to share it by starting the appropriate thread (or adding a reply if it already exists) using the barely legible thread icon I have created for it?
Here are this week's, for example:
THE OMEN has already been out a few days to cash in on the 6.6.6 thing. Apparently it made some bucks.
Opening today: CARS - I KNOW somebody's gonna see THIS.
A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION - I am already ready to never hear any news coverage of this movie for the rest of my life, but unfortunately I'm in the wrong metro for THAT.
Current movie icons will be placed right at the front of the list (right after the generic movie/TV/DVD icons) or you can just copy the link from the images in these posts.
Mostly this is another way to see how pretty I can make the zeitgeist page, but it's ALSO a tricky way for maybe getting some more threads started in this forum.
After I get tired of this project (about three more weeks, I think) I'll unsticky this thread and banish it to the land of wind and ghosts. For now, though, you'd probably better just mark this forum read if you don't want to see this in the new posts over and over...well, until the next post I tack onto the thread NEXT week. And so on. For a while. Yes.
(As always, if you want to see a thread icon that doesn't appear to be here, please send me a PM or email and I'll alert my Korean animation team)
Hmm, guess I need to post these earlier in the week! Here are your new choices this Friday:
NACHO LIBRE - I never heard of this
THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT - I understand it's called "driftin'"
GARFIELD 2: A TALE OF TWO KITTIES - God help us all when Hollywood thinks movies like this have to be made
THE LAKE HOUSE - God help ME, I'm just interested enough in the plot to consider seeing it despite the fact that its leads starred in "Speed" a zillion years ago
Has anybody seen any of these movies? Would you like to start a thread containing your opinions of said movies, perhaps soliciting the opinions of others who have ALSO seen said movies, and perhaps discussion could ensue? C'mon don't be shy. Your public awaits!
The Omen (2006) The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties The Lake House
And here are Friday's big openings!
CLICK - MAN am I tired of these ads. "Let's slow things down for a better look!"
WAIST DEEP - it's Bonnie & Clyde on the flip side, if their promotional arm is to be believed. I still get confused whenever I hear that voiceover guy talk about The Game and it's not the white guy we all see every Monday.
You've probably seen this one already. It opens Wednesday.
And here's the only competition this weekend - actually opening on the normal Friday is THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. No, I don't expect anyone will see this or want to talk about it, but I'm a COMPLETIST. (Or ANAL.)
LITTLE MAN: Please don't tell me you're going to watch this.
YOU, ME & DUPREE: Two weeks in a row of Wilsons begins HERE
I didn't do icons for limited-releasers STRANGERS WITH CANDY and A SCANNER DARKLY but don't let that stop you from telling us what you thought of them if you happen to see them this weekend!
Older icons have been taken off the newthread page, but if you suddenly feel compelled to register an opinion about them, you can show all in this thread and use your browser's "copy link to image" magical clipboard thing - or I can just put the icon in later like I tend to do with the wrestling posts.
LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE has been out a few weeks, but this is the week it goes into its widest release. Kim and I almost went to a preview like a month ago but I can't remember what better thing we had to do.
Opening Friday:
SNAKES ON A PLANE - you MAY have heard about this one. Actually, it opens Thursday at 10PM if you're keeping an eye out for it
MATERIAL GIRLS - if you watch this AND you read this board, you need to post more. Because you're probably female. (That's not a putdown!)
ACCEPTED - for the love of all that is holy....ask him about his wiener
INVINCIBLE - only Disney can bring you this (based on a) true story!
HOW TO EAT FRIED WORMS - holy crap, I actually read this as a kid! This, of course, means I will have no problems telling you the book was better (despite the fact that I surely will not watch it until it's on HBO)
BEERFEST - nah
IDLEWILD - from the imagination of Outkast - this may actually be a sleeper (or I have nothing else to hope for this week)
Thread ahead: Rocky Balboa - just saw it (spoilers masked) Next thread: The OC Airs Series Finale Feb. 22 Previous thread: The Return of First Run Television
