SNME Quick Style:

Opening: We'll see the WWE title defended for the first time in 14 years on NBC, 6 Man Tag Team Match, and DX takes on the Squad one more time.

Hogan out to start the show! Egomania with Daughermania is running wild! Hey, two sentences later Orton is out. Gives Brooke Hogan a rose and in a not heel move ask nicely/respectfully to wrestle Hogan at Summerslam. Hogan accepts as Orton continues to give Brooke looks.

UNLIMITED: Hey the begining of King Booker coming to the ring.

We're Back: Hey everybody is getting an intro tonight. Next out Finlay, then Mark Henry, followed by Lashley, Batista, and Rey Mysterio. Hey the bell rings at 8:21pm and we have our first wrestling match on a wrestling show. Sports Entertainment...excuse me. Lashley and Finlay start...they get about two moves into the match it looks like it's going to be slobberknocker as all get in the ring and the ***AD BREAK*** runs in.

UNLIMITED: Booker and Lashley in the ring...Booker gets the advantage and tags in Finlay then quickly does a move then tags in Mark Henry. Quick tag action among the baddies. By the end Booker and Rey are in the ring.

We're BACK: Rey and Finlay mixing it up...no they didn't they DID! It's the evil midget out to attack Rey! Ok, I don't feel like spelling that. Rey in the ring getting punished. Moves from the Mark Henry attack and can Rey make it to tag? NO! Ref doesn't see it. Booker and Rey! Rey with a flying head sciccor. Here's the Animal Batista! He's a house of fire. Spinbuster to King Booker, 619, Batista Bomb 1...2...3! Lashley, Rey, and Batista pick up the win. Vince is on my screen and he's going to destory DX tonight. What holding cell? Umm...DX cuts in and says we're going to make fun of Vince while he's talking to the Spirit Squad. They cut the sound on Vince and it become a great voice over japanese movie! Yes! 1...2...3...RED BOTTOM! ***AD BREAK***

UNLIMITED: TRIVIA! Hey I lost the first one...lost on the second one...lets see if I get this one. B: Ok, if you didn't know the Von Erics are from Texas then you don't know wrestling.

We're BACK: Hey a review of the Divas bull riding contest! Good it didn't make TV! What ok it is going to make it on TV just the finals...McCool and Victoria. Out for our next match Nitro and Melina in a mixed tag match. Trish is out! Oh, so sad to be seeing you go this fall please resign! Everybody find her email address and bombard it! Out come Carlito! Hey, Nitro doesn't want hook up with Carlito so we get a tag off to the women. Nitro trips up Trish. Chops by Trish hey Carlito go to lick her hand. A hair whip that takes them both down. Nitro almost blows the german suplex. Nitro grabs the distracted Calito he escapes an nails the Back Cracker! 1.....2....3! Trish and Carlito win! DX vs Spirit Squad is next! ***AD BREAK***

UNLIMITED: Sign of the NIGHT! Pretty good ones.

We're BACK: Hey Kevin Von Eric is out getting pop before the show. It's time for DX you think that you're better? Bow to the masters! HHH and HBK out...next the male cheerleaders. They all drank 20 cups of coffee before they came out. Whoa two refs tonight for the match. Hey Spirit Squad takes HBK over into corner. It doesn't last long as he cleans house and megaphone shot to send them all to the outside. HHH grabs the air horn and makes them scatter. Mitch runs in and SWEET CHIN MUSIC! 1...2...3! He's elmianated.

UNLIMITED: Oh, that was great. HHH does Kung FU! That's it go back and watch it.

We're BACK: Well, we have an ASSHOLE chant on NBC. After he takes out HBK with a chair. Kenny goes for the leg drop and gets the butt buster! HHH hot tag to clean house. Hey Spirit Squad breaks up the Pedigree attempt. Hits one on Kenny. 1...2...3! Sweet chin music. 1...2...3. We're down to one squad member. Superkick into a Pedigree...1...2...3! DX shuts out Spirit Squad! Vince is releasing the Squad. NO WAIT! SUPERKICK! Vince is locked up with the Spirit Squad. Still to come Cena vs EDGE for the WWE Championship can CENA regain it?***AD BREAK***

UNLIMITED: Trying to unlock Vince and company. Whoa did Vince almost hop the railing?

We're BACK on NBC: Hey the Great Kahli is on my screen. ECW is out in the form of Big Show and Paul Heyman. Giant vs Giant? Hmm...where is this going to go? Oh, that's where it went...an UNDERTAKER appearance. Geez these guy are BIG! History being made? Undertaker gets a double chokeslam by Kahli and Show. Kahli is headed to the back. What Punjabi Prison match? ***AD BREAK***

UNLIMITED: Hey, look who's going under to Sabu it's Stevie Richards.

We're BACK: Whoa! Undertaker is coming to ECW? Will he accept the Big Show challenge. He's is ECW on NBC. Joey Styles and Tazz! Extreme Rules. Sabu dominates Steive Richard and misses the Arabian facebuster but he proved he is a "Modern Day Kamikaze" as he still to leap into an already half colapsed table onto Stevie Richards. Hey Brooke Hogan music video...why? Please? No? Ok, well it be over in a moment. Hey Hogan and Brooke are getting ready to leave the arena. Out of no where it Randy and a RKO on the trunk of the car to Hulk Hogan...the daddies girl is upset. ***AD BREAK***

UNLIMITED: I didn't see it. Probably Hogan.

We're BACK: Hey, review of the Hogan taking a RKO on a trunk. Bull riding...it will eat three or so minutes. Yep, well Michelle wins and Victoria breaks her ruler. Cena vs Edge build up. It's almost time for our MAIN EVENT for the WWE title. Edge defends against CENA NEXT!

UNLIMITED: Hey Maria and it's a Saturday Night Main Event Kiss Cam.

We're BACK: It's JOHN CENA! A former WWE champion and "contriversial" one at that. You think you know me? EDGE is out with Lita...the Rated R Superstar. Are we going to see a title change? First time in 14 years this title has been defended on NBC. Edge wanting to walk out and Cena says no way. Edge throws Cena in after thumb to the eye. Cena over the top rope and the ***AD BREAK*** runs in.

UNLIMITED: Edge keeping Cena on the outside. Suplex to the inside by Edge and punches take Cena down. Cena fights back but gets taken down buy a spin heel kick by Edge followed by at two count.

We're BACK: Edge attempts a superplex but they both almost get killed by Edge slipping. A big boot by Edge. This match has become a punching match...BOO/YEAH. Cena hitting the three and a half moves of DOOM. You can't see me?!? FU! 1....2...OHHHH!!! Lita! Edge misses the spear STFU! Ref calling for the bell...it's DQ buy LITA! Edge spears Cena. Cena up and after EDGE! Cena grabs a TV monitor...BOOM right to Edge's head. Cena climbs the steps and giant FU through the announce table. Cena gets revenge on Edge for Lita screwing him out of the title. We get the copyright information and we're out.

Remember all that stuff I liked about the LAST SNME? There didn't seem to be too much of that on TONIGHT'S show.

The blown spots didn't help - poor Sabu. I think Mark Henry tore something up in his right leg (I know you saw Nick Patrick make the dreaded "X", too), but we'll hope it wasn't anything that'd keep him from the Bash - or at least a short match to put Batista over. Jack Doan may have also whacked his head on the steps due to the close placement of the holding cell and three commentary tables (I didn't go back and check that one - he's ONLY a ref, after all)!

Thank goodness they set up the next big episode of ECW by...featuring The Undertaker and hyping Great American Bash? Well, if it's an hour later, maybe it'll be even MORE *EXTREME*!

That's about all I got. How about you?

Mark Henry was injured in the Six Man Tag Team Match at Saturday Nights Main Event. He is currently diagnosed with a fractured patella and a possible patella tendon rupture.

If the diagnosis holds up after further diagnosis, he is due to have surgery later this week with Dr. James Andrews.

WWE Dr. Ferdinand Rios says Henry faces four to six months of extensive rehabilitation if he indeed needs surgery.

Due to the injury, Henry will not be at the Great American Bash press conference on Monday July, 17th.

Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown to find out what will happen with Batistas match, which had been against Henry.

Check back at WWE.com for more information as this story unfolds.

Man, that really sucks for Mark Henry. Smackdown will really need some heels now. After, Booker, Finlay, Regal & Kennedy (... Kennedy), who else do they really have now?

I thought Orton's RKO on Hogan on the car was kinda cool.

DX vs. Spirit Squad was ... there & predictable. Though I thought we'd get of the probable DX vs. the McMahons at Summerslam build.

Any takers on what kind of gimmick match Cena vs. Edge at SS will be?

All John Cena is missing to really get over big is an Iron Shiek, Nikoli Volkoff or Yokozuna to fight. If he came down in flag pants or something ... forget about it.

Edit: Oh yeah, J.R. really missed his chance to throw in his 'that's why they call it high risk' spot when Edge slipped.

plus it was like 8 years ago. Hogan could still get the big boot leg high enough to give the big boot.

Ok, maybe not 8 years ago. 18 - but you see my point.

Sabu needed to improvise a different finish. That wasnt cool what he did to stevie, I would have kicked Sabu's ass back stage if he did a spot like that to me.

So is Batista's whole move set: clothesline, bodyslam, spine buster, demon bomb? I was thinking he reminded me of a slower Warrior, then he started shaking the ropes.

Looks like the Hogan/Orton program is just starting at SummerSlam. I bet Orton jobs everytime for punishment. They didn't even make him a convincing heel tonight.

Holy shit, is Stevie Richards okay?! That was a wicked, nasty and possibly concussion-inducing shot to the head with that chair. I agree; when something like that happens, improvise a different finish! Protect your opponent, especially when he's making you look like a million bucks.

If I were the referee, I would have had Lita ejected from the building before disqualifying Edge. Uh, jackass, that's what she was trying to get you to do! Good match between Cena and Edge, though.

Can we please get rid of the Spirit Squad now? Or at least have McMahon stop using them as his proxies? They got skunked during that match, and while I found it entertaining to watch, don't get me wrong, it really makes you wonder why Vince keeps going back to the Spirit Squad every time when they've been utterly incapable of getting the job done against DX ever since they officially re-unified.

Hogan/Orton has been cringe-inducing ever since Orton first ogled Brooke during her video, and will no doubt continue to be. And it won't be a good match, either.

I'm sure they'll spin it and say that Batista got his revenge on Henry by putting him out of commission. Besides, nice a guy as he may be, I don't think Mark Henry is exactly irreplaceable or anything. Hell, if anything, this opens up a spot for someone else - start pushing Regal as someone other than the guy who says "All hail King Booker" fifteen times consecutively (as amusing as that may be), build Kennedy like they were planning to before the injury that put him out in late 2005, insert Burchill into Henry's position (people seem to forget that despite his quickness Burchill IS a pretty big dude)...they have a number of options there. I may be in the minority in saying this, but I don't think the problem is a lack of pushable talent in the Smackdown brand, but just that they have a lot of prospects they could build and sell, but don't seem to want to put the effort it. The cynic in me suspects they'll just call up another big guy from Developmental to be the Ad-Hoc Mark Henry (even "Freakin' Deacon" is a possibility since they completely buried the "fake Kane" angle on RAW).

I didn't think it looked as rough as others are saying it did, but still, point taken. That being said: Sabu's only doing the type of thing that WWE WANTS him to do (which is to come across as the insane guy who does crazy spots and doesn't care about his or his opponents' safety), there's a lot worse he could've done, and I doubt you'd actually kick his ass. Just a guess.

It was a six-man WWE match, he's coming off a seven-month lay-off due to injury, and he was only in the ring briefly. For what it's worth, Batista's been one of the better "big men" WWE's pushed in quite some time.

Well, they didn't job him to Angle in their last match, and they sure have been pushing him on the RAW side. They're obviously doing a slow burn. They had Orton come out feigning respect for Hogan and no ill intentions towards his daughter, then later in the evening had him hit Hogan with an RKO onto the back of a car. I'd call that heelish. As for Orton losing...yeah, he's gonna lose. Some will call it punishment, some will call it Hogan stipulating he'll work Summerslam to pop a buyrate as long as he goes over (like he did last year). If I'm a betting man, I'm putting money on the latter. All that being said, I personally really couldn't care less for a Hogan/Orton program, and it made absolutely NO sense given Orton's history of targeting older wrestlers for Hogan to take Randy's word that the challenge was out of respect. I haven't seen someone in wrestling that gullibe since Sting teamed with Flair time and again only to have him get turned on each and every time.

Other thoughts on the show:
- The dX skits get lamer and unfunnier with each segment. The overdubbing was just...lame. I really wish I could be more verbose in describing it, but the only word I can come up with is lame.
- After building it for two (at least?) weeks, Carlito/Stratus and Nitro/Melina got no time at all.
- Going into it, I was thinking that the whole "dX beats up the Spirit Squad" thing was getting old...especially since the last time they did at handicap match at the last RAW PPV, it dragged on forever. This time they kept it short, which was good, but in the process completely and utterly buried the Spirit Squad, and I mean BURIED. I know this is just going to lead to the McMahons saying "we have to just do it ourselves...again...with no poop" at Summerslam, but in the interim, they've done a lot of damage in the eyes of the fans to the Squad. I thought that last month they did a decent job with throwing them in the program with dX, but after that they should've just dropped them down to the mid-card rather than spend three weeks completely burying them.
- The Khali/Show/Taker segment and subsequent challenge was just...weird, and came across as totally random. Won't even comment on ECW not being established enough as its own separate entity, because that's a broken record that's gonna be skipping for at least the next six weeks.
- I was jovial when they just showed brief highlights of the cross-brand Diva mechanical bull competition until they showed the graphic saying the "finals" were coming up. Then they didn't even have Victoria do a psycho-bitch beatdown on Michelle McCool afterwards. What a waste.
- The main event was just kind of by-the-numbers, and it shouldn't have been done if Cena's chasing until Summerslam, but that's understandable considering the Van Dam situation and they did the right finish with the face Cena getting screwed by winning via DQ. I'm hoping for his sake it's just the Dallas crowd, because otherwise it looks like Cena might start to be getting the boos again.

All in all, very flat show. It set up some stuff for Summerslam, which is good, but did it all in a very dull fashion. The inherent problem I see is that with monthly PPVs, they can't provide TOO enticing a card as to draw attention away from what they want people to PAY to see. C'est la vie.

This could be VERY bad for Mark Henry, because his contract is coming up soon, and if he hasn't signed a new one (WO has been suggesting that he probably would), he might be convalescing for free.

There were reports recently (i.e. before he joined Booker's stable) that Regal was contemplating retirement. He's probably pretty happy doing what he's doing now.

build Kennedy like they were planning to before the injury that put him out in late 2005

Kennedy's pretty much a 1-note character. Character. Plus, there's rumors that he's lost some steam backstage (getting a big head, blaming Super Crazy for their bad match on SD).

insert Burchill into Henry's position (people seem to forget that despite his quickness Burchill IS a pretty big dude)

Recovering from knee surgery. Plus he left as a face. PLUS he wasn't any great shakes in the ring when he was working the pirate gimmick. *PLUS* he was a lower card guy, so he'd need some serious time to turn into a ME guy.

So, now the top heels are Book, Finlay, and (shudder) Khali. Quite a drop off.

The Cynic is me says that the Mark Henry injury means that they no longer have to put the belt on Booker for a transitional reign to get the belt on Big Dave. Now, with Henry out, Batista can be inserted into the World Title match and pin Booker in a 3-Way to get the belt off of Rey without them having to put it on a transitional heel, and without Rey having to be pinned for it. Chances are, after Dave wins, they'll bring out the old "Rey and Batista were buddies" angle, and Rey will be quite forgiving and say the belt was Batista's anyway, as he never lost it. Sucks for King Booker, and seems like a bad idea, but that's exactly why I see The E pulling the trigger on it.

Going against almost no legitimate broadcast programming last night, Saturday Night's Main Event finished dead last among the four networks in its time slot, doing just a 2.7 fast national rating. The final number, which will be out next week, will not differ much from this because unlike what happens with Smackdown, there were very few preemptions of the show. So, it appears that this show will do much worse than the March edition, which was a huge disappointment at a 3.1.
When I read bad ratings news like this, part of me is distressed when WWE shows dont do well, but the other part of me hopes WWE sees the bad news as a sign that it's time for them to try something different.
