I liked the show & thought outside of Wrestlemania it was probably the best thing WWE put on this year. I think the PPV will be great and I think that ECW will do alright. I think Vince has decided to let Paul re creat the magic. Paul Heyman cannot be stopped as a creative genius! Heyman will make Big Show a monster and Wrestling Observer has an interview posted where he hints to huge plans for Show. If you remember the best Smackdown has ever been was when Heyman was in creative control. The best Show has ever been booked was when he was built up under Heyman while on Smackdown. ECW will succeed because their is a fan base that wants it & a creative genius that can book good to great storylines week in and week out. Just watch & enjoy cause I think this is gonna get good!

Barkeep, I'll have what he's having.

I use dial-up mode, but I won't be able to remember what day I was WOTD every time I see one of my posts and I can't ask the boss because *he* won't tell me. ;)
Since I haven't seen any links about it, on the ECW website there is a video promo from the Big Show explaining his diffection. It's seemingly quite logical enough. Not necessairly why the choose to move him but the character reasoning.

-The USA Network "WWE vs. ECW Head-to-Head Special" on Wednesday night drew a 3.1 rating. How that translates to a prediction for Tuesday's debut on Sci Fi is hard to gauge. Sci Fi isn't nearly as strong a network as USA and it won't feature all of the WWE stars that loaded the Wednesday special. The timeslot isn't much different, though, and the buzz is pretty high going into it. It also benefits from cross promotion on Raw the night before, so there's little time for viewers to forget about it.
(I'm kinda surprised and really disappointed that it only drew a 3.1)
-Raw on Monday, as reported earlier this week, drew a 4.0 rating. That included a 5.3 overrun rating, the second highest of the year behind Edge vs. John Cena.
(Who's gonna be next to join the club folks ? After all, Vince's ass = ratings)

I would say that Kurt Angle is a "symbolic" choice that harkens back to the direction that ECW (probably) would have followed had the company not gone under ... After all, just like Heyman and Styles have been pointing out, ECW was not just about the blood and barbed wire, but it also put a premium on actual WRESTLING (Guerrero, Benoit, Malenko, etc) when the mainstream federations were more interested in body builders and (literal) clowns.
Hell, Heyman even wanted Angle to be a part of his company ten-odd years ago ... It's a little late now, injury-wise, but the emphasis on his wrestling background is a nice indicator (to me, at least) that the idea behind the (quote, unquote) "new" ECW will be about giving wrestling fans an alternative to the (quote, unquote) "sports entertainment" that WWE currently offers.
As for the Big Show ... well, anyone remember 911?

Really? That would prolly be on the high side of my estimate, especially since they only really started discussing the event that final Monday. I consider myself really up-to-date on wrestling, and even I had to check the TV Guide to see when it was on.

Oh yeah...I forgot to mention how much I loved that Angle promo too. "They said I could lose my life...what they don't understand is THIS is my life". That rocks on so many levels!
