That was kinda fun in a been there done that sort of way. I have no idea how they are going to work this into a regular show though without it turning into an ECW replay of 10 years ago.

The bickering at the booth got old at times, but big score for Styles calling out Lawler for not even watching Smackdown.

I always forget how small Sabu really is, and for a moment there I thought they were actually going to have him tap.

I also wonder how Smackdown is going to even sell a PPV these days. Or is that show slowly being fazed out and I missed the memo?

Nice to see Lillian recovered well from her bump on Monday.

Also, I didnt realise Stevie Richards was alive.

I thought this show was pretty decent. Better than the last few RAWs that's for sure.

Line of the night from Taz "Hey King, shouldnt you be at a senior prom tonite?"

I liked the bickering between announcers and how JR was trying to remain nuetral.

RVD vs Mysterio was better than I had thought. The Battle Royal was also better, MUCH better than I had thought, but TWO commercial breaks? Big Show turning his back was pretty unexpected.

Jazz makes a return? Could Rodney Mack be far behind?
Her match with Mickey was actually pretty entertaining as well.

And, am I the only one who was hoping and praying for a Beullah run in when Lita was caning Dreamer?

"ECW brought the late Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Rey Mysterio to America. Because WWE didn't want them. They wanted 6-foot-5 bodybuilding stiffs like Ultimate Warrior and Lex Luger. You can have them!"

"More short jokes from the King. That's great, stretch. What are you, 5'10?"

Joey Styles was on FIRE tonight. Actually, all of the commentators were, which was half the fun of the show.

RVD v. Mysterio was a fun match. Cena v. Sabu was better than it had any right to be. The Foley promo was great.

Just a couple complaints.

1) The final 6 in the ECW v. WWE battle royal were Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, Big Show, Edge, Finlay, and Shelton Benjamin. The story seemed to be "All the ECW wrestlers suck.... except Angle." And then, ECW stands tall in the end, being represented by Kurt Angle and Big Show. That's just.... well, odd.

2) Randy Orton has gone to RAW? Good lord. Just kill SmackDown now. It's dead. Buried. Game over. Let's just have RAW and ECW from now on.

Still, a fun, fun show. This did a better job of getting me psyched for Sunday than anything that has happened on RAW or SmackDown.

EDIT: Oh, and Edge almost got killed tonight. Have fun on Sunday. That broken neck should look forward to it. And be sure to tell Angle to have fun in ECW as well.

I like the two separate entrances....The opening contest was really good, and this coming from someone who's by no means a Van Dam fan....I thought the Angle/Orton interview segment was pretty damn decent....I was looking forward to Jazz v.s Mickie, but it ended up too short to amount to anything....

The battle royal had too many breaks, and I can't say I'm excited to see Big Show in ECW....Dreamer/Edge was kind of a throw-away match, and didn't get me any more excited for their tag match Sunday, a match I was kinda looking forward to....Foley's interview was well-done, but the point was kinda lost in translation....

Tazz and Lawler were hilarious throughout the show, and had a decent pull-apart in anticipation for the match Sunday....Cena/Sabu was disappointing (though I didn't know really WHAT to expect), and I think the predictible ending (big schmoz) hurt it. It just didn't have the same effect after seeing the same guys all in the ring together earlier....

Mysterio does the job again. What a shocker! That giant belt he carries around is for what again?

All in all, fun show. After years of WWE hardcore matches, I'd forgotten that part of what makes "ECW rules" so much fun is the casual use of foreign objects. Every WWE hardcore match has to feature a giant shopping cart full of plunda. But in ECW, where plunda was nothing special, guys would maybe use a chair to pull off a cool move once in a match, just because it was there. I like that.

Big Show's sort of a weird choice for ECW, but whatevs.

I suspected Orton was Raw ever since he showed up Monday. I still refuse to believe Vince is deliberately trying to sabotage Smackdown, because you don't earn a billion dollars by not trying to make money, but oh, man, I gotta wonder what's going on here. There must be a plausible explanation! By the way, Orton's promo tonight was my favorite Orton promo ever. He summoned his natural dickitude more than ever. A little more of this and I'll actually want to watch him.

I really enjoyed this show. Perhaps because I haven't watched any WWE in a couple months out of boredom.

Great to see Justin Credible back in the fold, even if most didn't like his ECW title reign like I did. Can't wait to see more of ECW, given their "new" direction (which I assume will have more indy stars - making this WWE's answer to ROH and TNA... which is extremely smart).

So is Chavo joining ECW then? You've gotta think that the two main events (the world title matches) won't both end in WWE winning/retaining. So I can see Sabu winning, but would they move Chavo to ECW by having him turn on Rey, and in the process forego his return to Smackdown?

You think Sabu is going to win the World Heavyweight Championship? I promise you that will not happen, even if Rey is a good 2-6 since the week after Wrestlemania.

Edge really fucked the up out of his back. A sign of many things to come. Building to Lita getting piledriven is good bookin'.

FOLEY. What a promo and what a promo-speaker. He loves getting hardway busted up in the temple.

Rey vs. RVD was fun but all these ECW guys trying to do their highspots are going to die on WWE's loose caboose ropes.

Announcer bickering has gotten very old in the past but tonight everyone was on. Especially Tazz, and especially Lawler PUNCHING TAZZ HARD RIGHT IN THE FACE.

Smarks! Ones for exclamation points! You are above the fray, buckin' the system, and givin' us all what-for. I think we get it, and recognize that you're your own man.

)-:

But if my original point didn't come through because of my original typo, I apologize. My inference is that you were stickin' it~! to us internet fans for advocating Rey Mysterio, a ridiculous choice for champ only popular among those out of touch smarks. But really he's the biggest ratings draw of anyone as far as one guy making a difference in quarter hours. Which is to say very over with the real fans who aren't so caught up in all that smark b.s., and perhaps a logical choice to have a shot as champion beyond the wishes of work-rate obsessed jackalopes.

Wasn't Heyman booking Big Show when he had that great run in Smackdown against Lesnar? Plus if you think he's big now imagine how much of a monster he will be in the ECW roster. I think Heyman can book him as the super monster he should be booked as.

The only problem is, the new ECW doesn't appear to have a Brock Lesnar to realistically battle Show. Angle could do it, but then you've got ECW headlined by Angle vs. Show, which doesn't do much to establish the brand's identity.

And man, does Smackdown ever need a star to jump over. Get Kane, Edge or someone over there STAT since right now, Mark Henry is the lead heel (shudder).

I was thinking the exact same thing. I also thought Mickey James defeated Jazz a little to easily for my tastes.

During the whole time Terry Funk was trying to open up Mick's eyebrow the hard way, all I could think about was the segments in "Have A Nice Day" where Mick would be thinking of Harley Race whenever he was in that same situation.

I'm going to have to go against the flow with most people on Mick's sitdown speech in the middle of the ring. I thought it dragged, was too long, and Mick really wasn't saying anything that hadn't been said already (especially after watching that clip of Mick doing practically the same promo during his old ECW days). I would have rathered that they just used that time to lengthen one of the previous matches.

Lawler, Tazz and Styles ripping at each others throats really made the show for me. Poor JR....he really tried to be pleasant and neutral during the whole show, but he still ended up getting ripped on towards the end of the show.

I thought this was a really good show. I would give it a 9 out of 10.

That's exactly why I think the Big Show isn't a bad pick to move over. Heyman did a fine job with him and if they go into the backstory with Paul E managing him when he was a threat, they've got a solid way of explaining him leaving Smackdown.

I really liked the show. The bickering helped pick up how awkward having two teams calling every match worked. If Joey and Tazz didn't take a shot at Lawler's shirt, they should have. The leprechaun comments got a big pop from me.

There were only a couple things that particularly bugged me. Why would Joey make a point of telling everyone that Jazz wrestled more men then women only to see her get wiped out by Mickie? Almost makes it sound like Mickie could take out some of the ECW men. Secondly is what's been touched on before with who the last 6 men were in the battle royal.

All in all, this was a hot start for the new brand. Hopefully they won't drop the ball once the TV begins.

Yeah, the announcers were the best part of the show last night. My favorite part was that not only did the King take a nice, hard shot at Taz, but Taz basically dared him to and then didn't even try to block or move. He just took that shot like a man. And yeah, I agree with everyone else. Smackdown is getting crazy depleted. They are now officially one step closer to ALL Kendrick and London ALL the time. Hey, I know one person who's going to be cool with that.

IF Mike Awesome is not going to be in ECW2, then this makes sense; you have that big monster of a wrestler in the fold and maybe, just maybe this helps out Big Show.

I never watched ECW back in the day, but this new start is really excited. I haven't watched wrestling in months, but the show was RED HOT last night. Those stiff punches between Tazz and Lawler were awesome. The matches were great. I just have one question: what should I expect from The Sandman? To me, he has the coolest name, look and gimmick of any ECW guy, and I keep thinking "OMG there's Sandman someone's gonna die~!!11" but he seems to do nothing. He beat on Cena's head with the cane Monday. Then last night, he lasted to the sort-of end of the battle royal. I really expected him to win it.
And why the skepticism about Sabu beating Rey? Isn't Sabu supposed to be awesome?
