Will Ferrell is leaving SNL after the season finale in a couple of weeks. He's one of my favorite castmembers of all time and it's a huge loss for SNL. Celebrity Jeopardy is probably one of the funniest skits ever. I wonder who's going to play Bush now. I hope TV Funhouse stays.

I never got the appeal of Will Ferrell. Outside of his George Bush, which is admittedly great, most of his impressions and characters were just "Will Ferrell With a Moustache" or "Will Ferrell With Slightly Different Hair" or "Will Ferrell With a Slightly-Raised Voice". Celebrity Jeopardy was great with Darrell Hammond and Norm MacDonald, but I always got the impression that he'd never heard Alex Trebek talk or anything.
I agree that Celebrity Jeopardy was funnier when Norm MacDonald was on. His Burt Reynolds impression was funny. His characters were repitious but they were funny too. "Get out of the Shed" always gets a laugh out of me.

This entire thing we're involved with called the world is an opportunity to exhibit how exciting alienation can be. Life is a matter of a miracle that is collected over time by moments flabbergasted to be in each others' presence. The world is an exam, to see if we can rise into the direct experiences. Our eyesight is here as a test, to see if we can see beyond it. Matter is here as a test for our curiosity. Doubt is here as an exam for our vitality.
This sucks so bad for all parties involved. Ferrell seemed always open to do any skit and skewer any celebrity. The top 5 characters that I will miss from him:
1. George W. Bush- What will SNL's "strategery" be for replacing Ferrell's dead-on impression? 2. James Lipton- Ferrell was great as that odd host of "Inside the Actors Studio." 3. Alex Trebek- Not for the impersonation, but for the interaction with Darrell Hammond's Sean Connery. 4. Harry Carey- I loved this impersonation, especially the skit with Glenn Close where they discussed outer space and sandwiches. 5. The piano husband and wife team- Of course I forget their names now, but Ferrell and Gasteyer were gold as they "busted a move" for Altadena Middle School.
Good luck in Hollywood, Mr. Ferrell

"Oh would you stop being all stealthy and just get in the truck"- Tom Servo
Harry Carey was pretty funny too. The funniest Harry Carey moment was when he thought Colin Quinn was Norm MacDonald. "Hey Norm, did you gain weight." That was Colin's first Weekend Update because Norm was fired(screwed) because of his O.J. Simpson comments.

Ferrell leaving has been a fairly poorly kept secret. If he'd stay on any longer he'd go into Tim Meadows territory. I think Hammond, Kattan and Gasteyer are leaving as well.
One thing for sure, he single handedly kept SNL alive during that sucky stint in the mid 90's. For me i think he is one of the best cast members ever and very underrated. He gives his all and has no boundries and really exemplefies the original castmembers ideals.
My fave Non Bush Ferrell moments: 1- The hot tub skit with Jim Carrey...can watch that over and over and still be on my floor laughing my ass off. It was just an incredible mix of two great physical comedy performers. 2- Jeopardy...as said before, the chemestry during the whole sketch was unbelievable. My fave of them all... "Famouse Titties for $400 Alex..." 3- Spartan Cheerleaders....cheesy yes, but it got SNL back on the map...and the dances ruled! 4- James Lipton...best impersonation after Bush, best is with Toby Maguire as Screech. 5- The Buttabi Bros...the sketch and Night at the Roxbury were very cheesy, but once one heard "What is love...baby don't hurt me" you know a laugh will always follow. 6- Bobby and Marty Culp...leading the nation of United States of Funk...best one was the Gore campaign sketch. 7- Harry Carey...especially the one after he died. 8- I drive a Dodge Stratus!!!...classic 9- The Blue Oyster Cult sketch...Ferrell with the cowbell...HA! 10- I Just Died in Your Arms Sketch...with Horatio Sanz and the Joshua kid from Dawson's Creek. I just found the delivery of that sketch to be impeccable.
Wow...10 right out the top of my head...that means 1) i watch way to much comedy central and 2) He is going to be a great loss and will be missed on studio 8-H.

NBC President Don Ohlmeyer is a friend of O.J. Simpson's. Ohlmeyer had Norm MacDonald removed. It was never EVER formally stated that the O.J. jokes were the cause of this -- Ohlmeyer's statement was "He's not funny." But anyone with half a brain can put two and two together.
"I wrote this song on the back of a Dixie cup..." Too funny.
Q: If you could have interviewed Marvin Gaye, where would you have proposed to meet and what would you have asked him?
A: I would have met anywhere as long as it was before his father shot him. I would have asked him, "Hey, don't you think there's some chance that your father might shoot you? To death, I mean?"

How did Jay Leno make all those O.J jokes. Err the talented ones get screwed and Leno stays. I guess Leno is the NBC equal to WWF's Bradshaw.
Leno's more like Bossman. He just won't leave. And as for why Norm got screwed but not Jay, think of it like the MSG Incident. Norm is HHH and Leno is Michaels. Shawn's on top of the ladder, Hunter is not. Who can get away with stuff and who can be punished? Not too hard to figure that one out.
"The Tonight Show" is the number 1 rated late-night show. It's even ahead of Letterman. I think that's why Leno was spared.
I wonder if Norm wrote muuch of the O.J. material. I think there's other writers who write some of Weekend Update. Where's Polishuk? Maybe he knows more of this than I do.
