How the hell did Haas not see Lillian standing on the ring apron? Was the white she was wearing not bright enough?

Holy crap, Charlie Haas KILLED Lilian Garcia!

What was worse, Sandman's missing cane shots or Sabu's not-even-close-to-a-Arabian facebuster? The answer, of course, is the fact that they repeatedly replayed BOTH of them. You'd think they were trying to sabotage ECW by making them look so bad. YOU FUCKED UP! YOU FUCKED UP!

Umaga is the greatest entertainer on this show. I said it.

That's all I got.

So they stuck Kane II's head under the faucet to make his hair look better, but then it looks like they took the lifts out of his shoes or something. Third time's a charm, unless it isn't.

Lillian Garcia: Soon do be dubbed in the "don't try this at home" spot. "How do you learn to fall off a 5 foot apron?"

WWE.com is reporting that Beth Phoenix was injured as well.

And is it me or did the Sandman look to be in pretty decent shape?

I noticed Harry Smith in the ring when Team WWE came rushing out & kept waiting for his "debut RAW match" but to no avail ...

The crowd reaction in the opening segment was interesting. At first, it was mostly boos for Cena, then it was mostly boos for RVD....Carlito/Shelton was too slow, a bit of a bore....The Vince/Trips segment was strange, in that Vince reminded me of Shatner playing Denny Crane on "Boston Legal" for some reason....The Striker/Eugene match and segment was okay in that everyone in it served a purpose (most notably, Umaga)....

I didn't care for the Foley/Angle segment much. Don't know why- the mic work just didn't seem to be up to par....Anytime Murdoch gets the mic is a good time, and I have a feeling the Kane storyline will be slow to play out, a la the Mickie/Trish one....The Highlanders feels like a gimmick straight out of the mid-'90s....Boy, the fans did not care for Charlie Haas....

Didn't Victoria get introduced in a similar way Beth is, i.e. she was a woman from Trish's past? Did we ever get a clear answer to what THAT was? Beth does show some promise....The main event segment was surprisingly short. Not that I'm complaining.

Is this ECW v.s WWE special really necessary? The way the matches are panning out, ONS seems much more like a ECW v.s WWE show.

As if Charlie Haas wasn't already fucked. He then goes out and murders poor Lillian Garcia. I guess he was told the ending to tonight's match, and figured "If I'm going down, I'm taking everybody with me."

Ending was a little too predictable for my tastes. I think the opening segment should have been the ending segment tonight.

I'm a big Kurt Angle fan. I'm a big Randy Orton fan. I'm a big ECW PPV fan. But mixing the three together is just... odd.

With Mickie/Trish being pushed to the backburner in favor of Beth Phoenix, this statement is 100% correct. UMAGA~! completely saved what would have been a completely worthless segment.

In addition to Lillian getting nuked (welcome to Hell, Charlie Haas), Beth Phoenix broke her jaw in the match with Victoria tonight.

Wow, this week was REAL light on wrestling. Was anybody else as dissapointed as I was when Orton was announced as Angle's opponent at One Night Stand? I mean, I'm sure it's gonna be a decent match and all, but it has no place whatsoever on an ECW card. It's a match we've seen before on SmackDown this past year. I would have much rather preferred a debuting Sylvester Terkey (who is a monster BTW).

I'm real worried about this whole ECW comeback. All I kept thinking about tonight was the infamous Invasion of 2001. When we had Austin representing WCW, Tajiri fighting Rhyno for a WCW belt, 4 WCW guys and about 20 WWE guys on the alliance. There hasn't been one match announced yet that has strictly non WWE guys. I'd like to see some non WWE vs non WWE matches on this show to give it a more "special" feel, instead of just another WWE PPV.

Has Terry Funk finished walking down the steps yet?
Welcome to jobbing in every fire table/thumbtack/shards of glass match Charlie Haas.
How many more weeks will they keep promoting the Kane movie? I know they did throw a Dusty spot in after a Kane movie special effects segment, but, wouldn't it make sense to give the 2 DVD's they are releasing the day after RAW 1/4 the publicity of a movie that will be out of theaters in a few days?
Only a few more steps to go for the Funker.
Why is Vince letting Sabu within a country mile of a championship match? Then again, Sabu didn't get within a country mile of Cena on his attempted Arabian Facebuster.
Vince really needs to go old school Memphis and Ban The Pedigree in the manner the piledriver was banned in Memphis for Lawler.

How come there is more WWE wrestlers on this ECW PPV than actual ECW guys? Its all WWE vs ECW matches. Cant they just have a bunch of old school ECW style matches since it is an ECW PPV? At least last year they only had guys in the balcony and not actually in every match.

And I bet Charlie Haas gets either released on sent to Smackdown now. They could at least make him a woman hating heel now. Do something with his personality at least. They could at LEAST have a Big Vis vs Haas match so Visera can defend Lillian's honor.

Also, does WWE have stock in Aquafina or something? They sure like showing the bottles off.

Ha! Like Haas will ever be allowed anywhere near something as big as a fire table/thumbtack/shards of glass match. Actually, what'll probably happen is they'll give him an awkward-guy-who-fucks-everything-up gimmick, which always works, then they'll release him after a few nominal months of jobbing on Heat.

Sabu is Sabu, but I thought Sandman was actually trying to cane the spinner belt there. He was at least much closer to doing that, anyway.

Didn't Victoria get introduced in a similar way Beth is, i.e. she was a woman from Trish's past? Did we ever get a clear answer to what THAT was?

They did explain this - they were both fitness models and friends, but Trish didn't help her friend getting into wrestling, and Victoria was bitter and such. They even had a picture! I don't know why I remember this.

I was busy typing and really missed that...OUCH, ouch, and freaking ouch. Funny thing is you can here Nitro saying "Who cares about Lillian." While he has Haas in the back breaker type hold over his knee. I know he's a heel but that was sad.

Yes Orton was the bigger let down than I think the "New GM" thing a couple weeks back.

The blown Arabian Facebuster by Sabu looked bad, but it could've looked a lot worse. In the past the guy's been synonymous with "blown spot," however the table was positioned too far away from him (it appeared to me to be over three-quarters the length from the turnbuckle). He did manage to realize he wasn't going to hit it and at least somewhat salvaged it by throwing the chair under his arm, so for that I give him some credit.

Haas knocking Lillian off the ring apron was one of those rare "...did I really just see that?" moments for me. That being said, it was an honest mistake, and while "de-push" was my initial reaction I think we'd be jumping to conclusions to say that he'll be buried over it. Aside from that, his match with Nitro was better than I expected, and Nitro himself thus far hasn't looked all that bad as a singles wrestler (especially considering the rumors that it was Matthews who primarily planned out the spots in MNM matches).

Boy, they're really driving home the point with Angle's character that this isn't going to be the ECW of the past. I'm on the fence as to whether having him constantly mention that is a good thing or a bad thing yet. Oh, and having ECW vs. WWE guys in most of the matches for the Pay-Per-View is one thing, but Angle vs. Orton on an ECW PPV? Then again, if this all correlates to the "new era" of ECW, perhaps in retrospect that won't be an entirely bad thing. Besides, we had our full-blown "ECW reunion" show last year, so I can't complain TOO much that the second "One Night Stand" is deviating from that formula.

Carlito/Benjamin was a nice little match with a good finish, but I'm really getting burned out on non-title matches where the champion loses (between that and all the non-title tag matches on Smackdown).

I didn't notice the spot where Beth Phoenix broke her mandible, did anybody else catch that?

Wasn't there an old note in the 'wrestling rule book' (you know, the one that Jack Tunney kept on his desk and contained such nuggets as the 30-day title defense rule) that said you automatically get a title shot if you beat the champs in a non-title match?

The Highlanders look fun. It's good to actually have a face team to feud with the Spirit Squad after they're through with HHH and Michaels.

I still don't get the whole concept behind this ECW PPV. Chief's note about it being like the Invasion is correct; the only 'ECW' guys who've had any mic time are RVD, Angle, Tazz and Heyman. You've got both world titles on the line at the event, which (in storyline terms) should be treated like a much bigger deal, since if RVD and Sabu both win, ECW suddenly controls the entire wrestling world.

"You know what the fellow said: In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. 2 solid RAWs in a row. I'm very happy. I liked everything about tonight (god did I just say that? yea i did), even the bits with HHH, which I'm the first to admit I'm not too fond of.

Count me in as ones who "marked" out for Umaga. I had actually FFWDed the Eugene match, but replayed it a couple times to see Umaga to put the beat down on Eugene and Hacksaw.

Carlito/Benjamin and Nitro/Haas were both good IMO, and if you listen closely, you can hear Lillian screaming in pain right after Charlie knocks her off the apron. Nice job of King and JR to not even mention the fact that she fell off the apron right in front of them until right after we get back from break.

After weeks after week of SS saturation, the run-in only spot was a nice change of pace, which means they'll probably be on Internet Velocity this week.

Glad they did some mod work on the New Kane look. The hair didn't seem to be nearly as wild as last week, and he actually looked a little more like Kane this week.

Line of the night however went to Shane-O. "Vince likes you...it's almost like your part of the family"

Finally, I dont wanna complain, but it would seem that the WWE vs. ECW show on Wednesday would do something to cheapen the effect of ONS this Sunday. Why pay 40 bucks for a PPV, when you can generally see the virtual same thing on USA for free half a week earlier. Oh, and Kurt owned with his segment tonight.

I'd been reading about The Highlanders for some time on various sites. They had been used for spots such as security guards before, but now we see the full horror of their gimmick !

The fact Robbie and Rory really are Scottish born may surprise some when they have been given Braveheart meets Groundskeeper Willie characters.

Remember they tried to pass Rowdy Roddy Piper off as a Scot for years just because he could play the bagpipes !

'Do they have cows in the UK ? ...... er, course they do !'

A line from around 1991 in RRP's commentating days.

It was nice to see Harry Smith in the blink and you miss him spot.

Best sign. 'JAMAL', during Umaga's appearance. Either a coincidence or an inspired make from the fan.

I know he was "drugged", but why did looking at his own father's ass compel Shane to tweak his own nipples? And did anyone else get a Bushwackers vibe, with the Highlanders wacky tour of NYC? Like something off of Coliseum video. I dread Funk's performance at the PPV, his legs are in worse shape than Ken Griffey Jr's. And it wasn't said on the show, but maybe Sabu wins Rey's belt and declares it the new ECW World title?
