What is going on with this girl in the UK?

She starts smoking when she's *nine* (what is that, third grade?), starts drinking when she's *ten*. She goes to a party, gets wasted, screws a fifteen year old, and gets pregnant.

Now she's twelve years old, eight months pregnant, and she's still smoking. She quit school because of all the fights she was getting into.

And to top it all off, her mom is proud of her. I mean, the hell with the honor roll and stuff like that, this girl's managed to fuck up her life before she's even a teenager. What's not to be proud of?

Is this entire family nuts or what?

Wow...you'd think you were reading the script to Springer, or something.

Somebody please please PLEASE take the child away from the mother when it's born. For her to be ELEVEN and a parent is one thing...but for her to be smoking a pack a day WHILE preggers? That's just irresponsible.

How'd you like to be the senior in high school that's ALSO the mom of a first-grader? Crazy.

According to one of the young ladies with whom I attended school, it tended to make life difficult.

Leaving the names out, he was 14 and she was a quite mature 12. Since this was back in the dark ages (1981), she moved from Indiana to NYC to live with her mother while she was pregnant. Once the baby was born, she came back to Indiana and was a fairly normal teenager except for the fact that she had a toddler. It was also interesting when she would get called out of classes in high school to go pick up her sick kindergartner. For prom, she and the father of the baby went and had a wonderful time while his mother watched their first grader. The happy couple got married shortly after her graduation from high school and have been married for almost 20 years. While they've made it and have 5 happy, healthy, and apparently successful kids, ranging in age from 24 down to 6, neither one of them would recommend following their path. Of course, they were also blessed with incredibly supportive and good, leaving aside the whole parents while still in junior high issue, parents which doesn't seem to be the case in this unfortunate situation.

Sadly, the article isn't coming up for me, but I LOVE the SUN, so I went searching for it myself.

Anyways, I surprised that her mother isn't a crack whore in jail for murder because that's just about the only way I can imagine being 'proud' of her pre-teen pergnant daughter. Then the mom can say "Well, I'm proud that she isn't a murdering crack whore like I am."

Not that I think giving birth is comfortable for *any* woman, but a twelve-year-old body giving birth must be PAINFUL.

Yes, but not WEEKLY WORLD NEWS tabloid so much as THE GLOBE or NATIONAL ENQUIRER or OK! MAGAZINE or PEOPLE. Yeah, that's the one, PEOPLE!

I'll shut up now...

Same here. One of my favorite parts of the trilogy. In the movie, it kinda looked like the remaining Uruks ran away unharmed. Still, I agree with odessa - the books are the books and they are great.
