Hardcore rematch sounds good. Who does everyone think will win? It should be good. I just don't know if it to furthur the ECW storyline or for them to have a match. Can Foley really lose again and still draw in the future? I almost want to pick Foley myself.

I'll predict that Foley wins the rematch, just because Edge won the first match and jeez loueez, when was the last time Foley won an important match, anyway? Isn't the guy due?

If anyone was listening to Meltzer on tonight's WOL, you learned:

Foley is going heel and it might be tomorrow night.

I embrace this and have seen it coming for a while now. I thought he was pretty heel-ish leading up to Wrestlemania against Edge.

Good god that is a bad idea. Foley is supposedly going to be a big part of the ECW relaunch (as mentioned in a Meltzer update) and I cannot see how combining him and that brand name can possibly work effectively with Foley as a heel, or really be accepted by the crowds. That would be like if they tried to bring back the Four Horsemen with Flair as a heel, people would just not buy it.

As a fan, I'm not interested in booing Mick Foley at this point in his career, and I honestly can't think of a way to make me boo him. He's blended his real life persona and his on-screen character too much to do anything that could really make him effectively unloved I would think. I mean, sure Foley as Mr. McMahon's toady trying to kill ECW could work, but it would either likely come off as forced, or if he did it well it would risk him being sympathetic.

The only thing I could see would be a delusional Foley against RVD if RVD becomes the top guy of an ECW relaunch, and Foley demanding that RVD give him that spot. That might work, but even that seems kind of iffy.

Now I'll never be able to lead SPF's spfers! (The W)

He's going to have put all his effort into being heelish if it's going to have any chance of working. Kind of like when he turned heel in ECW (as an anti ECW guy telling people to go to WWF or WCW), when he toned down his promo style and stopped doing any of the popular moves he did (I think in his book he said he did chinlocks. Lots of chinlocks).

Of course, in ECW, he can bring out Mr. Socko, which apparently will get people to boo him.

EDIT: Sorry, cubs, I forgot.

Boffo: You did see everyone else put that spoiler in spoiler tags, didn't you? Apparently not.

Since the interest in this match has now shifted to the spoiler, I think it's best just to change the title to indicate a spoiler and let you now skip that tag.

I actually saw this coming a little while ago, when I noticed this page that the WWE put up.
Cactus Jack ECW page

In 1995, Mick Foley turned on the fans that had embraced him as a hardcore legend. He said that he found no purpose to work himself to the brink of death for a bloodthirsty ECW audience that would likely step over his carcass to find a new hero without thinking twice.
"We [shot] three interviews [in a row], and it was very therapeutic for me," Foley says. "Two of them went on to be considered classics in wrestling history."
Foley even tried to convince Tommy Dreamer to change his hardcore ways to save his health and prolong his career. ECW "will be the death of you," he told Dreamer during one of the emotional interviews.
Still, the greatest insult to the fans may have been how Foley promoted rival WCW, and purposely wrestled slow, plodding matches to antagonize the audience.
"I was systematically trying to find out what they liked, then take it away," Foley says. "They like dangerous moved and intense matches - I gave them safe moves and boring matches. I tried to make sure the matches lacked any real emotion.

They're obviously not going a babyface route with him. :)

If there's one legend who can pull off a heel turn, it's Foley. I'm sure he's got his motivation already worked out, and the explanatory promo should be killer. Plus there's a buttload of money to be made from his eventual return to facedom.

The only things that concern me, though, are the options for his face nemesis. An RVD feud might sound good, but it'd require Foley to do all of the storytelling and a large portion of the in-ring work. Who else is there? Carlito? Done badly last year. Michaels? Would be sweet, but he and Hunter will be too busy with the DX stuff. Cena? A surefire way to kill any boos right out of the gate. That notwithstanding I'm really pretty psyched to see where they're gonna go with this.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

I'm more worried that turning him heel might make Edge go face. That's not a smart move. And that would be a very easy drift from tweener face to playing second-banana to Shawn and Triple H, in or out of a returning DX.

Should he turn heel, now would be the perfect time to pull the trigger on the Flair/Foley feud ... Foley could cut some great heel promos on how Flair has lost his touch (see: Backlash, vs. Umaga) & then proceed to beat the holiest of shits out of him.

Pefect match for Summerslam.

A face nemesis to stand up to Foley going into an ECW PPV?

Terry Funk would be my guess.

I could see him working the sellout/children's author bit pretty well. Watching him try to pull it off will make for some good television.

I don't think a Flair feud would guarantee a heel turn, that would be about a 50-50 split of the fans. But siding with Vince, or Bischoff against ECW might work.

Baby, you've got a stew goin'!
