Ok, so I was pretty excited about this new album, cause even as a huge Pearl Jam fan the last two were kinda eh. Couple good songs, lots of junk.

Got it off ITunes this morning, thinking ok I'll give it a couple of listens and see what sticks. Usually takes a few times before I decide what songs I like and don't.

I am VERY happy to report that I just listened to it all for the first time and wow. Maybe the rumors of them tanking the last two albums to get out of a contract were true. This is by far one of their best albums. Hell it's one of the best albums I've heard top to bottom in an long damn time. I can only think of maybe two tracks that were just ok, but none were terrible and all the rest were good to great. And really I thought World Wide Suicide was just a good one. So many better songs on the album.

I recall the quote that this album was supposed to be harder or something but most of the tracks are kinda mellow it felt to me. Could have meant the lyrics but with Vedder it's hard to understand him at times so I dunno. WWS is probably the hardest song on there music wise.

So yeah, go get it like right this instant.

Got it last night, but I've only been able to listen to it a few times while doing schoolwork (its currently my last finals week ever!).

I was definately expecting something much harder overall, like Vs, and wasn't looking forward to that too much. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that was not the case.

Until I give it a few more listens I can't really say too much more. I definately like it better than Riot Act though. I think I may eventually rip the few decent songs off of that and forever forget about the rest of the album.

But anyway...

I'm anxiously awaiting being done with work for the day and going home to relax on the couch and soak in some brand new Pearl Jam. I rarely get excited about new music anymore, and Pearl Jam is one of the only bands that will still make it happen.

Hey, I liked Riot Act. Binaural was pretty "meh", but RA had some pretty solid stuff. "Thumbing My Way" is fantastic.

I did the pre-order dealie (where you get the bonus bootleg disc), so the new album is probably waiting in the mail for me when I get home.

Hey, I liked Binaural, though it did take a while to grow on me.

I don't remember if the pre-order deal said they were shipping the CD to arrive on the second, or if they were shipping the CD out on the second. Either way though, aren't you entitled to a free download of the CD (as of midnight last night), to ensure that you have your music today?

I can't remember the last time I bought a CD the day it came out in the store. Between this and Tool, I'll finally be burning away that Best Buy giftcard I've had sitting around for ages.

Yeah, I can do the download, but I get up @ 6 AM to start getting ready for work. I didn't feel like staying up to do the download & then the upload to my iPod.

I love Binaural. It has really, really aged well, probably because a lot of the songs on there sound really great live and it kind of makes you forget that the experimental recording technique they used makes them sound like your listening to them in a tin can on the album.

I love "Sleight of Hand" and "Parting Ways", but everything else I can do without.

My Binaural preferences are EXACTLY opposite to yours. Weird.

Though Parting Ways sometimes decent live, Sleight of Hand is just a horribly boring song to me. I went as far as not including it in any of the bootleg tape-->CD transfers that I've done for myself.

I'm listening to the bonus bootleg disc (New Year's Eve 1992, NYC), and it's some awesome stuff. They're just rocking every song.

Wash
Sonic Reducer
Why Go
Evenflow
Alone
Garden
Daughter (not exactly the same lyrics as the Vs. version)
Dirty Frank (!!!)
Oceans
Alive
Leash
Porch

Come Back (track 12) is officially one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs already. I simply cannot get enough of this one. Right after Come Back is Inside Job, another awesome track. Its got one of those slow-to-fast epic buildups that I love. I anxiously await hearing both of these live in 10 days.

Speaking of live, anyone else here going to any upcoming shows? I've for fanclub seats for Albany (5.12) and both Boston shows (5.24-25).

I've got fanclub seats for the Philly/Camden show (5/27), and the first Meadowlands show (6/1). My brother got in to the post-Letterman concert this Thursday. I'll be stuck watching the webcast.

I'm doing the 6/3 Continental Airlines Arena show. Would've done 1 of the Camden shows, but Memorial Day weekend plans for everyone else messed it up.

The album had to grow on me.
Still not sure about some songs, but there are some of them that I love.
WWS is one of them, Gone, Inside Job are pretty damn awesome. Probably some more but I never check the titles on my ipod

Some of the other songs I am not sure about.
I like the energy of the album, but don't think it is in my top 3 or so.
Interstingly enough I love Riot Act and Binaural.

As for tickets..Yay. They are coming to Europe this fall.
So I secured myself tickets via the fanclub for the show in Holland.

And erhm..where is this post-Letterman show being shown?

*sigh* Why bother?

Guys, I think Parachutes may be the best song on the album.

You may be right. I'm not sure yet. I really love Marker in the Sand and Parachutes. Though basically the only two songs I'm not much into on this album are Comatose and Big Wave.

For the first day in maybe a year I'm not listening to ESPN radio while driving around. This cd is on repeat the whole time.

After a few listens, this is easily their best album since Yield. Anxious to see them in Boston in 3 weeks.

American Idiot is to Green Day as this album is to Pearl Jam.

Gah! I missed the webcast...

Is it just me, or does Come Back sound like something they would cover from like the 50's, a la Last Kiss. It almost sounds like you could dance to it. I feel like it should be on a soundtrack or something.

And doesn't the beginning of Inside Job sound like the beginning of Gone if it were acoustic?

Overall, I like the album, but I still need a few more listens.
