From Rajah.com:

Word has it that "Network Representative" Palmer Cannon has left WWE and flown home from the European tour. Sources say that Cannon gave word to the company and wishes to part ways. Sources also state that he is en route back to Georgia, where he resides and that he left the tour on his own, not by company request.

-------------------------------------

Though apparently PWInsider.com is also reporting this, as well as other news sites so it is likely he is leaving. Now he was wrestling on the tour, and it could be the touring schedule getting to him, or who knows what else. I know, I know, who cares about Palmer Cannon? He was trained by Killer Kowalski, and was doing matches (having a match with Funaki in Bologna, Italy) and continuing with training and the like.

Eh, he wont be missed. Though I liked the the little skits he did about the Miz, and he was servicable in his role as the "Network" guy. That's pretty much it.

From WrestlingObserver.com:

--WWE officials are attempting to keep Palmer Canon from quitting. He's given notice after flying home after the first day of the European tour. It was a situation involving JBL while on tour. He was being hazed by JBL and others to the point he and JBL almost had a confrontation. At this point, he's turned down all requests to reconsider.

Hey, JBL, making friends everywhere!

Watching "The Ringer" is not unlike watching porn; after about five minutes one is both supremely bored and wondering whether to be ashamed or not.

I don't think a single person besides Palmer Cannon's mother cares if he quits. JBL is a douche for hazing like he does, but I couldn't care less if the "network guy" leaves. He won't be missed.

Meltzer's snippet above seems to indicate otherwise. (We're spelling it "Canon" this week, too)

So in this situation you can justify the adverse working conditions because...for whatever reason you don't like the guy?

    He won't be missed.
Geez, have you even seen him wrestle yet? I sure haven't. I wouldn't have minded at least ONE opportunity but it looks like JBL had a better idea.

Don't get me wrong; I still really like JBL as a performer but when I see stories like this, the Orton thing, Vince's increasingly bizarre (and apparently officially sanctioned) on-screen beheaviour, it really paints a picture about how things are in the company.

But mostly, I'm not sure *this* is a situation where you should be applying your opinion to the public at large.

Palmer Cannon played the character of the guy sent from the network, in this case UPN, to keep WWE in line on their programming that aired on the network. Basically the same angle ECW did with Cyrus as the "network guy" for TNN.

Only with about 1/16th of the charisma that Cyrus had.

It just occured to me, I can think of one person besides his mother (and CRZ) who will care very much that Palmer Cannon is gone--Miz. I didn't realize the guy was actually going to start wrestling and not just talk until I read this thread, but it looks like he was intended to be the Miz's first feud.

Now on the one hand, this could be good. Kennedy...(Kennedy) was doing a very similar gimmick, and could be plugged into the same spot once he's healthy. Kennedy's certainly a lot more engaging than Cannon, and, since we never saw Cannon wrestle, I'll just say Kennedy is at least a proven quantity in the ring.

On the other hand, Cannon is someone Miz would have been a lot more likely to have gone over. They might go with the exact same angle with Kennedy and Miz that they had planned for Cannon and Miz, but I suspect they would change the ending....

I dunno. Vince is really high on Kennedy, and there were rumors of sliding him into Orton's spot. I don't think they'd stick Kennedy with a new guy like Miz, especially if the plan is to get Miz some credibility. They'll look to protect Kennedy a smuch as possible, which I think would be a problem if he was feuding w/ Miz.

It seems awfully convenient that there's another guy with a "network guy" gimmick just hanging around, but you're right, there's a big difference in where they stand on the pecking order.

Wait, Miz was supposed to be a face? His promos were dripping with obnoxious heel smarm. Why would they have him face off against the network guy?

Yup. He'd already had his first (and last, as it turned out) confrontation with Cannon; he wanted to give JBL a "reality check" and Cannon stopped him at the arena door, saying that the network had had enough of his "antics". It's basically the Y2J character, the smartass who is smart with the heels when he's a face, or with the babyfaces when he wants to turn heel.

But your right, he has a number of mannerisms that are not very endearing, and will need some tweaking if he wants to stay face for more than a month. But, yeah, he's meant to be a face.

Every time Miz is set to debut with a new partner or feud, that person either quits, gets fired, becomes a male cheerleader, or is diagnosed with a brain tumor. Personally, I think Palmer was desperate not to be linked with the guy and JBL was a convenient excuse.

In all seriousness, how many people think Cannon will be blamed for this whole thing in the end, being told he's not enough of a man or something?

Miz's character is really execrable. I would love to slap him repeatedly in his stupid face. I bet he'd be a great heel -- hopefully the crowd will make it happen.

Palmer might have had 1/16 the charisma of Cyrus, but he was 16 times more convincing as a network executive.

Would Stephie want to be away from Hunter that much to appear on SD? That would only give them Thursdays together most weeks...
