A bit of a longshot it seems.

If Hartford goes get a team, it looks like "Brass Bonanza" makes a comeback. I'm sure RSN would love that.

"Speaking of Thomases, I loved your recent Atrocious GM Summit column, although I think that you flatter Isiah Thomas far too much by suggesting that he is merely one of a number of atrocious GMs. The truth is that Rob Babcock and Billy King are Einstein next to him. The mess he is creating right now in New York will be studied by business school students 50 years from now alongside Enron and pets.com."

Malcom Gladwell, from an e-mail exchange column with Bill Simmons.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

As much as I'd love to see a team come to Hartford, I really, REALLY wish it wouldn't be the Penguins. They belong in Pittsburgh.

Thankfully, the Pens' future in Pittsburgh looks a lot more secure now than it did six months or even one month ago. The arena is not a done deal yet, but they have two viable plans to get it built. The team is for sale, but any potential buyer is obligated to keep the team in Pittsburgh if one of the plans goes through.

With all due respect to Hartford, I don't think the NHL would approve a move from a city that runs 90% capacity every night for a last place team to a market that they already failed in.

I would put Hartford behind the following cities, in terms of getting a relocated franchise:

KC
OKC
Vegas
Portland
(maybe) Winnipeg

Not to mention, isnt the arena capacity of 16,000 a bit small for NHL clubs these days?

The idea is whoever owns the team will build a new one. They're already replacing most of the Civic Center's surrounding buildings with apartments and such, so a sparkling new arena would just be part of that.

WOw, after reading the first post, I was expecting the kids name to be Lindross! Just let him take the trophy, and when the original winner goes to give it back, Have him smash it all up!
