The punchline is weak, though. Undertaker's ALREADY a dead man. That's his gimmick.

There's inherent racism, whether intended or not, in comparing a black man to an ape. I'm not sure I would have made the same assumption as you, although I can't for certain in this case due to the subject line of this thread.
I continued to be more offended, however, at the complete lack of humor in these cartoons.

If Mark's line had been written to sound like the old stereotype of a black man's dialogue -- you know, Amos and Andy stuff -- then, yeah, I'd label it racist.
But given the potential for someone to see that in the cartoon above, and combined with a weak punchline, I can agree to say the cartoon was a bad idea all around.

Oddly enough, when Mark Henry made his tragic, goddamn-no-selling-cage-door re-debut, and then climbed to the top of the cage...I was thinking "Damn, one of these writers must have watched the new King Kong movie last night!".
Of course, if Goldust would have done the same thing I probably would have thought "Damn, one of these writers must have watched 'Brokeback Mountain' last night!
Then again, if Lillian Garcia would have done the same thing, I may have thought "Damn, one of these writers must have watched 'Seabiscuit'!
The moral of the story is - if you go looking for / accusing people of racism, it's probably you. Or maybe bad humor
