...that you don't already know.

According to the Meltz, Sean O'Haire will get a WWE tryout tonight. Here's hoping that if he returns, they'll dust off the old promo tapes and give this gimmick a fair shot.

That was a great gimmick, I hope it works out. He seemed to get blamed for the whole Piper-Hogan feud in 2003 sucking ass. I actually hoped he would show up in TNA, where his offense would not be so restrained.

I was like the biggest O'Haire fangirl ever (or at least one of the biggest), so I hope all goes well.

We'll never really know, because the viginettes were really great, but then they latched him with Piper and it cut the balls off the gimmick before it really had a chance to take off. Because at that point, O'Haire was just the lackey with muscle to the point that he might as well have been wearing a cowboy hat instead.

That's how I remember it as well. They had just introduced him to the live shows, hanging around backstage and trying to entice people to the dark side, when he was shoved over to help out Piper. Never recovered from that.

I saw him a lot in OVW when he was there and thought he had everything that could have made him a star in WWE, so if they decide to bring him back, more power to them and him.

, because the vignettes were really great,

Right there is what I remember for about two or three months straight. In fact I've been recording WWE programing for the last three or four year straight with a mini archive of my own. If I wanted to, I'd have a lot of tape to go through, find those vignettes because they were freaking gold.

The viginettes were fine, but the guy is aaaaaaaawful on a live mic. I'm not just talking about his WCW era "Shout the last word of every SENTANCE!" promos either. I mean that the gimmick was bombing at house shows (and the few times he did it live on TV, because without the production and editing helping him out, he still wasn't any good at getting the crowd into the gimmick.

Who knows ... maybe with the returns of Palumbo & Jindrak, they may be plotting a Natural Born Thrillers reunion ...

Maybe, but WWE has a way of sabotaging or totally blowing anything that was remotely successful that WCW did. Their way of further thumbing their noses at them I suppose.

But, with this and the returns of guys like Test and Jindrak, WWE and Vince seem rather desperate to get bigger guys back. Maybe it upsets him deep down that Rey Mysterio is in a world title match at Wrestlemania.

The Natural Born Thrillers were a successful WCW product?

You're reaaaally stretching now.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. I was actually being sarcastic about the Thrillers comment. But hey, I guess it would be worth a shot.

Can the return of Planet Stasiak be far behind?

I think O'Haire is the best guy they've brought back, assuming they're bringing him back. I thought it was really strange that they gave him that great gimmick, then didn't seem to have any idea what to do with it. Maybe it'll be better this time. He's got a terrific look, too.

He was actually responding to The Vile1.

I remember reading that O'Haire was doing work in Japan. Just curious, did anyone see it? Was there noticeable improvement?

Oh boy, am I gonna be unpopular...

Back in the day the widespread hard-on for O'Haire was one of the most annoying phenomena to grace this fine community. The guy is straight-up bad on the mic, and even worse in the ring. He had a few good gimmicked-up promos hyping his debut-prerecorded and edited, natch-and suddenly he was ranked amongst the most overlooked wrestlers languishing on the WWE roster. Saying "he has a great look", or that the hype promos looked good, is to admit to the same shortcomings that oh so many bemoan Vince for possessing. He's muscular with wacky eyes. So what? So is Gene Snitsky. He had some great video packages. You know whose were better? "The Colossus Of Boggo Road" Nathan Jones.

I suppose much of the love showered upon him would be fine if it weren't so blatantly hypocritical. The guy had a bad match with Chris Benoit, for frick's sake. Chuck Palumbo was the worker of their tag-team, and he came in to bat crowd-popping clean-up. He's a bad wrestler. You're gonna give him a pass because you think he's cool, there's a whole batch of IWC martyrs deserving of your forgiveness, because I'm sure there are folks who find them equally fascinating.

Oh, and if we're talking about wrestling ability, Charlie Haas and Shannon Moore are both infinitely better rehires.

O'Haire stuck in my mind during WCW because he did the swanton. At the time, that was Jeff Hardy's move, and O'Haire seemed to follow Juventud's effort of stealing WWF moves and mannerisms to win heat.

I saw very little in his WWF run to warrant a return, but he was, as mentioned above, stuck as Piper's lackey and selling for Hogan (and Zach Gowen, right?).

As much as I like the notion of the early 2000 midcard coming back to the WWE, it means nothing so long as SD and RAW continue to push the same handful of guys as main eventers. I was glad to see Goldust come back too, but not to watch him lose stupidly and clumsily to Edge.

You've hit the nail on the head there! Yes, O'Haire is the best guy that they have/will brought/bring back. And yes, he had a super gimmick, which the entire wrestling world got excited about, but I think the wwe had streched that bit too far, they had stumbled upon something which everyone wanted to see develop and they ran out of ideas for it. I dont think the WWE ever knew how they were going to book the gimmick.
