Not that surprising given his age and the recently concluded negotiations. What an unbelievable successful run as commish! Labor peace, astronomical ratings, revenue through the roof, etc. He'll be a tough one to follow, and he has set the bar even higher than Rozelle did. Not an easy feat.

I can't say I've followed football long enough to appreciate how good he's been for the game (according to everything I've read they say very good), so I guess he'll be missed.
That said, did anyone else know that Condoleeza Rice's name has come up as a candidate to replace him? She, of course, has declined. (sportsillustrated.cnn.com)
Considering I am 36, and he is only the second Commish in my lifetime, I'd say this is a pretty big deal. He got the BILLIONS in TV contracts, and expanded, and returned to cities that teams had fled.
His mark is huge, and I cant imagine a commisioner being more efficient and successful.
