I only MEANT to pick UW-M to win...but for some reason my mouse clicking hand picked Marquette not only in this round, but the next ...I know I didn't mean to do that...

Oh, well...no bracket breakers...yet.

Damn, Arizona's making a statement right now.

I'm pissed, because if I'd known Hassan Adams was coming back, I wouldn't have been so quick to pick Wisconsin. Now I'm sweating bullets that my Villanova pick will hold up...

EDIT:

*listens to the screams of anguish from Iowa Hawkeyes fans*

I'm already getting the feeling this is gonna be a bad day for a lot of people...

It's good to see that the WWE isn't backing away from Batista or Cena. There's still some questions lingering over a few of the draft moves they either made or didn't make (Jericho being a prime example), but the stage is set for a solid run to Summerslam that may send the indicator down. The longer Triple H stays away is also a plus...

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"I know, I know you are saying "sure there was some bad calls, but Jake Gyllenhaal obviously dropped too many easy catches and Ang Lee had some horrible clock management at the end of each half!"" (krakken2000)

Mercifully, in the Only Pool That Matters, the six games I've gotten wrong won't do too much damage; I had all of those teams going out in the next round.

But BC? Ohio State? STOP FALLING BEHIND. You're KILLING me here.

Also, was it just me, or did anyone else see a hint of Okafor in Steven Hill... who apparently hurt himself. -_- What was it, four blocks in the first six minutes?

Woohoo, first place after day one. By far the best I've ever done, this is actually the first time I've ever gotten past day one without losing a Final Four team. Gonzaga tried to screw me though. The only two games I got wrong so far are Syracuse/Texas A&M and Utah State/Washington, but I have neither getting past the second round anyway so hopefully it won't hurt much. I actually went with the homer pick of Florida to win it all thinking it wouldn't matter because I wouldn't be in it, but now they better win!

Tied for 2nd after the 1st round, and 15 of my sweet 16 picks are still in it.

I'm still in first also, so i would be the one you're tied with. I only have 13 of Sweet 16 though. But two of my final four picks don't seem to be common choices so I think for me it will come down to how well those two teams do.

I have 13/16 left as well. However, none of the three I've missed so far did I have making the Elite Eight, though.

My Final Four is Duke, UConn, Georgetown, and Pitt. Let's see how THAT holds up.

I like how the current Yahoo! overall leader is called "Jay Hawks? More Like Gay Hawks." (UPDATE: It's been changed to "Jay Hawks? More Like Dumb Hawks." No clue whose decision this was, but I can venture a guess.) In other news, my try-something-new approach has fallen flat on its face as I seemingly picked every single game wrong.

5 ouf ot my Sweet 16 already knocked out, 30th place out of 35 in The W Pick 'Em, 13th percentile on Yahoo! overall. Ouch.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm enjoying this tournament more than most for two reasons. One, my bracket is screwed to high hell, so I can cheer for whoever I want. Two, the 13-16 seeds are giving us great games to watch. Albany: who knew?

OK, so I was REALLY bored waiting for today's games and went through everyone who has a score from 38 - 34 and wrote down their Final Four picks. I realize someone else can jump up there to because the Final Four picks are worth so many points but I didn't go through everyone's picks, because I wasn't THAT bored.

In the Atlanta region:
8 people picked Duke, so if they get knocked out that could be a blow to a lot of people.
VandyChuck and dunkpicks are the only two to pick LSU
Geriatric Carl Krauser is the only one to pick Texas
EvilMidnightBombers (me) is the only one to pick West Virginia

In the Oakland region:
6 people picked Gonzaga
The Problem Gamblers and Stewart Vols are the only ones that picked top seed Memphis
Ryder Fakin and Ed Rooney's Picks are the only two to pick the #2 seed UCLA
Geriatric Carl Krauser is the only one that picked Pittsburgh
Weakest Link picked Kansas and is the only one that has lost a Final Four team

In the Washington Region:
10 people chose UConn
Ryder Fakin and Stewart Vols picked North Carolina, so if UConn loses and NC wins, big points fro Fakin and Vols, if UConn loses but NC loses too, well then it hurts us all equally, thus not hurting us at all.

In the Minneapolis Region:
6 people chose Villanova
4 people chose Boston College
Ed Rooney's picks chose Ohio State
EvilMidnight Bombers (me) chose Florida

So right now, the two tied for first are also the only two with two Final Four teams completely different from everyone else, so we will either get a lot of points when our teams win or drop out if it quickly if the more popular teams win.

The Dukies go Bye-Bye in the Sweet 16 for a second straight season. Funny how Reddick is no longer a great player when the refs don't blow the whistle everytime someone breathes in his vicinity.
Now, if George Mason or Wichita State could miraculously blow up the D.C. bracket, I'm no longer in the abyss.

Duke AND Gonzaga go bye-bye. Two of my four Final-4 teams eliminated.

EDIT: Make that 3 of my 4 Final four teams gone, as BC loses in OT to Nova. UConn is still in it barely.

Apparently, we have the same final four. I had clawed my way to #10 in the office pool with a vastly different Elite 8 than everyone ahead of me, then I lost half of my elite 8 (and tied for 23rd). Ouch. Derby tix don't get paid for by my college b-ball knowledge this year. Phooey.

Bye bye, UConn!!

George Mason 86, UConn 84 in overtime. And what an incredible game it was. My poor dog couldn't take a nap in peace because of all my screaming and shouting. Unreal. How many more overtime games could we possibly see?

When the ball left his hands, there was no doubt Brown's 3 was going in to knock out George Mason. They survived, but perhaps after getting burned twice down the stretch, they'll put someone in the lane on late game free throw attempts. If UCONN had settled for 2 and sent it into a second overtime, it might have been as close to Kentucky/Duke from '92 as any game since then.
I know the rationale is UCLA is a West Coast team so put UCLA/LSU as the late game, but George Mason is going to be the story. Build up the audience to George Mason/Florida and not risk losing the casual person who jumps on the 'Rocky'esque' story of George Mason should they spit the bit. And, if you have no rooting interest or are not named Vincent Kennedy McMahon, you almost have to be rooting for a George Mason vs. UCLA national title game. Cinderella vs. the legacy of Wooden/Alcindor/Walton etc. It would be a Hollywood script.
George Mason coached by a former Providence Friar recruited by Joe Mullaney and ends up playing for Dave Gavitt vs. a Florida team coached by a former Providence Friar recruited by Joe Mullaney and played for him and Rick Pitino. And yet Providence is now coached by a person who should be driven around in a little yellow bus.
