On any and all of the spinoffs, movies, etc.

For me, it's the only person you can answer and still not be a geek - Captain James Tiberius Kirk.

I'm partial to Dr. McCoy, especially when he makes fun of Spock.

Kirk is head and shoulders above anyone else. Except for Q. Q ruled. Picard was nifty and all the original cast is cool, but Kirk is Kirk, and Kirk is cool.

It has to be Picard for me. Honorable mentions to Riker and Spock.

Picard & Q is right up there with Steamboat/Savage, Rocky/Clubber, Batman/Joker and Coke/Pepsi.

When Riker had the beard, he was THE MAN. For some reason, I just couldn't stand him without it.

So, yeah, either bearded Riker, or my second choice: Geordi LaForge.

I'd have to divide my picks into each series...

TOS: Kirk

TNG: Q

DS9: Can't say. It was the only Star Trek series I never really got into.

Voyager: Tossup between "The Doctor" and "7 of 9"

Enterprise: T'Pol

"Speaking of Thomases, I loved your recent Atrocious GM Summit column, although I think that you flatter Isiah Thomas far too much by suggesting that he is merely one of a number of atrocious GMs. The truth is that Rob Babcock and Billy King are Einstein next to him. The mess he is creating right now in New York will be studied by business school students 50 years from now alongside Enron and pets.com."

I'm gonna go off the beaten path here and say that Garak (from Deep Space Nine) is my favorite Star Trek character. You gotta love a character who once said, "I never tell the truth because I don't believe there is such a thing" and "Telling the truth is often an excuse for a lack of imagination."

Out of the five captains, I'd say Sisko is my favorite by far. He's got so many aspects to his personality. He can be gentle and diplomatic when the situation calls for it, and can be a bad-ass when he needs to be, too.

Honestly, Barclay.

I love watching Dwight Schultz, and he was given a great character to play with.

well, me, I can watch Uhura and Rand and Seven all day long...

But if it's characterization, I am a Bones McCoy fan. He's the everyman character and I found him endlessly interesting

Come on! Is there no love for the Starfleet Klingon? He started off largely stereotyped, but Worf was developed really well, IMHO. His trials as a parent were great.

non regular has to be Q. Regulars toss up between Data and Worf. On DS9 it's Sisko. The original its Kirk because the acting was so over the top.

Picard. In particular, the episode "Family." His breakdown in talking about what happened with the Borg after the physical confrontation with his brother is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen, and Patrick Stewart still managed to make it seem believable that Picard would just lose his stuff like he did.

Barclay comes a very, very close second.
