Dante Culpepper has informed the Minnesota Vikings brass that he wants to be traded or released from his contract (sports.espn.go.com).

Question is ... where does he go? There was talk that the Cardinals were interested in him a few weeks (months) back, but now the free agent QB market is getting a little bit croweded with Brees & now most likely, Patrick Ramsey. And there's a pretty decent QB class coming up in the draft.

Anyone from these area got any scoop from your local sports news?

Jeeze, from what I was watching last year, Culpepper was already playing for the opposition.

I really would like to know what the deal is with Culpepper in general? One year he'll throw twice as many interceptions as Brett Favre (yes, I went there). The next year he'll be a consensus Pro Bowl pick. I remember when he signed a new contract/contract extension a couple of years back, it was on the tail end of, I think, his most interception-laden season ever. And I thought to myself, "I guess the Vikings don't like winning." Then he went and had Peyton Manning-esque numbers the following year and something like a league-best passer rating.

Do you even WANT someone like that on your team? I know he has the ability to be a top tier quarterback, but isn't there something to be said about consistency and knowing what you're playing with?

I'm quite surprised about this. Culpepper always seemed comparable to McNabb given their ability to run and throw efficiently (when provided a top tier reciever), and I would have figured that Childress would have had minimal difficulty transplanting his offensive schemes. Still, for no specific reason, I see Culpepper winding up in Miami.

The morning host on the radio station I was listening to this morning (the station's in Orlando) said he got an email from a friend at an unnamed-but-high-profile car dealership in south Florida saying that Culpepper bought two cars there earlier this week.

No way. No organization that started Craig "Wheels" Wheelihan could ever find themselves in a QB Bind.

We have freakin' AJ FEELY. Tremble, bitches.

I thought it was common knowledge that he's rehabbing his knee somewhere in Florida. In fact, Wilf was supposedly not pleased with Culpepper because he's spending all this time in Florida instead of being up in Minnesota, despite the fact that the Vikings are going through all these major changes. Apparently Wilf wanted some sort of sign that Culpepper is in board. Anyway, point being, I don't know how revealing these car purchases actually are.

I've also heard the Rams as a possible spot. Scott Linehan is the new head coach & his former OC.

Good riddance. The best thing to happen to the Vikings all year was Culpepper's knee getting smooshed. Daunte has the physical ability to play, throw, run, ALL of it, but he just doesn't have the head for it half the time. When he even gets a little spooked, you can see the deer-in-the-headlights look on his face and Mr. Happy Feet shows up. Next thing you know, it's either an interception or he's looking at the lights after getting his ass handed to him. He just isn't consistent enough. Period. Also, he hasn't chown Childress much support since he came on board, and after Brad watched the whole T.O. thing blow up in Philly's face, maybe he just doesn't have much patience for that sort of crap. Seeya, Dan-tee.

Miami's going to make a big push for Brees, so I wouldn't put too much stock in the Culpepper/car story.

Although the choice between Guy With A Bum Shoulder versus Guy With A Bum Knee is a real pick-your-poison proposition. If it were my choice, I'd say because Brees likely can be back for the start of the season and as of now doesn't cost anything trade-wise would be the way to go.

However, El Herald seems to think that Brees is going to the Saints over Miami and Oakland.

For once, I'm actually right! (msn.foxsports.com) Pending a physical, Minnesota gets a second round pick for him.

Not that Culpepper's knee is going to be a picnic, but it seems like in the end that a worst case scenario of "Less mobile than before but can throw" sounded better to Miami then the worst case scenario of "Can't throw like he used to" regarding Drew Brees' throwing shoulder.

Culpepper is the one of the two who has a higher ceiling, even if it may take longer for Miami to see any benefit from it. But it was a move made by a coach who knows he still has 4 years left to build a winner. It's a gamble by Saban, but a calculated one.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"I know, I know you are saying "sure there was some bad calls, but Jake Gyllenhaal obviously dropped too many easy catches and Ang Lee had some horrible clock management at the end of each half!"" (krakken2000)

And now, Fox Sports's Jay Glazer is reporting that Saints sources say that New Orleans will try to trade (msn.foxsports.com) the #2 pick. Who wants a hardly used Leinart again?

Aaron Brooks will be starting for the Dolphins next year.

They should have taken Brees. The shoulder is going to check out OK, I would bet that Daunte will not pass the physical.

I say this because it would really piss off Dolphins fans, so it must happen. It is a law.
