He thinks he can throw Favre under the bus and THAT'S gonna give him the "respect" he wants? And here I thought he dumped Rosenhaus.
Screw you, Javon. You went from respectful, talented rookie to...well, T.O. v2.0. I say the Pack sits this jerk for a year and THEN lets him go on his merry way into free agency.
Yeah, wideouts who were hurt and put in 8 plays in 2 seasons will make big bank. Good luck...and good riddance.
Ungrateful bastard.
Wrestling fans...it's time for NWA Wisconsin Happy Hour! Now showing on WI Time Warner Digital Cable On-Demand Channel 998!
I'm not sure that I read the same story as you. He didn't throw Favre under the bus at all - he just mentioned he was displeased. The fact that he didn't bring this up and become a distraction last season says a lot about the guy.
There are times when people need to move on. You've never left a job before? It's different when your ability to work is owned by someone else - all you can do is ask to be traded since you have no say at all.
When you think about it for a little bit, it is pretty crazy that we have a system as restrictive as it is. I can't think of another occupation outside of sports (and maybe broadcasting) where people are traded by companies.
Surprisingly, Ted Thompson issued a statement. I say surprisingly, because Thompson usually doesn't say anything when he says something (from Packers.com):
Statement From Packers GM Ted Thompson Regarding Javon Walker
posted 03/10/2006
During his time as a Green Bay Packer, Javon Walker has been well thought of by everyone here. I like Javon, certainly as a person and as a player.
That said, Javon is under contract, which he signed as a 2002 first-round draft choice. That contract is governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which was negotiated between the National Football League and the National Football League Players’ Association, and we expect him to honor it.
There have been several highly publicized cases of player discontent in the National Football League. I don’t anticipate us making any concessions in this matter.
We will continue to stay the course, and the Green Bay Packers will have no further comment on this topic.

Bravo! Essentially - you're under contract, you aren't going anywhere, and we're done saying anything in the press.
Guru - You're right that it is restrictive. However, nothing says he has to continue playing football and being the underpaid person he is. I need an Operations Manager, and am certain that he could earn AT LEAST $35K if he's qualified :-)
