go to Burritoville. the best thing about New York. $1 Sangria. It's on like 6th and 12th Street, or somewhere down in the west village. If you can find Flying Burrito Brothers, go there. I'm not sure if it still exists, as I have found no trace of it in like 7 years.
Let me tell you from personal experience, it really scares the shit out of you when you look over at the display screen of the XRAY machine next to you, hear the woman working it yell "Bag check.... we need a fucking Bag Check Y'all" and see the outline of a grenade...
I'd say that's quite a bit more nerve-racking than getting stuck on the prop-plane turbulence flight from hell in the seat right next to the turban guy back in late September.
The only bag checks we needed were for the vomit bags. No hand grenades were found.
Well, I kinda booked out of there pretty quickly. I had to meet some people I was flying with (they were at a different screener) and I pulled one of them away and back behind a pillar and said "Trust me, lets just get out of the way".
Then, an alarm went off, and all of the security people went and blocked the escalators down. About 10 seconds later they all walked off. I guess it was a drill.
Still. Not the kind of thing you want to see when making a flight into George W. Bush airport in Houston (I was thinking, gee - nice symbolism for a terrorist).
Ugh. I guess it was a drill since nothing was on the news.

Thanks, man.
That's totally gay and no I won't. Believe it or not, people who actually LIVE here are much happier not having it dredged up every time some tourist comes in from California. (At least the - hmm - SIX people I know.)
Here's your update on what I've done
Went to see Bozo Porno Circus perform in front of about fifty people at a very small club - they only did about thirty minutes until the management complained about something (open flames maybe?) and pulled the plug on them. They were unhappy. We were unhappy. What an unhappy night.
Went to the WFMU Vinyl Fair - spent lots of money - passed on Belle & Sebastian, too tired and wanted to listen to stuff I'd bought anyway - also FINALLY got a Kraftwerk videography on tape which Kim bought for me 'cause SHE RULES
Went to a screening of CQ, Roman Coppola's directorial debut. Kim can tell you why it wasn't so great and you might want to give it a pass when it opens in a couple weeks or so
Went to White Castle last night - I sure love me the White Castle. NOW WITH CHICKEN RINGS
Other than that, it's been eating out (at places more expensive than White Castle), riding subways and busses, shopping in strange places for odd things, watching movies with my girl on her shiny silver DVD player, drinking as much as possible whenever possible, and more to come. Tonight we go to "The World" where I understand all the "WWF" merchandise is 50% off - that'll be a kick in the pants. Also I will be seeing "The Gentlemen," which actually sounds like I'll be wishing I'm a girl later tonight but we'll see.
While most of that sounds fine (although a bit too arty for my tastes) I have to wonder which buses you're taking and why. The only reason to take Buses in Manhatten (and most of Brooklyn and the Bronx too) is if you want to get somewhere and care more about not being too crowded than about time. On the other hand, walking crosstown always seems shorter in theory than when you're actually doing it...

The M5 stops right outside this building (not to mention White Castle!) and is just about as fast as taking the 1/2/3 train when you factor in all the walking we're not doing by taking the bus. (The waits have been about the same)
