CBS announced quite a few renewals recently. CSI (all 3 of them.), GHOST WHISPERER (People WATCH that?), NCIS (Guilty pleasure!), WITHOUT A TRACE, COLD CASE, NUMB3RS, 60 MINUTES, TWO AND A HALF MEN, CRIMINAL MINDS, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, and THE AMAZING RACE gets 2 more seasons, as does SURVIVOR.
CBS has also ordered a new show called SHARK. It's created by Spike Lee, who is directing the pilot, and starrs James Woods as a famous celebrity attorney who quits the after a crisis of concious to become a prosecuting attorney. Interesting.
In case you haven't heard, the first 'major' bloodletting in the UPN/WB merge is CHARMED, which is finally ending after eight seasons.
Anthony Clark will be replacing Jay Mohr as the host of LAST COMIC STANDING.
ALIAS, which has already been given the pink slip after this season, has now had it's episode order cut by five, giving it only 17 episodes for it's final season.
The White Stripes will be on THE SIMPSONS doing a parody of the video 'The Hardest Button To Button', later this season. Madonna will also be doing a guest spot.
Showtime has ordered another 'season' of MASTERS OF HORROR.
ABC has picked up a series called MASTERS OF SCI-FI, which will feature 'big name directors' doing hour long adaptations of classic science fiction stories.

Wonder where ABC got that idea. Bradbury and Heinlen GO!
I will be PISSED if Everwood doesn't survive the merge. Especially since the longer Gilmore Girls goes on, the more I wonder whether I'm starting to hate Rory and disagree with EVERYTHING she does. Growing pains my ass she's been fucking up for two years.

TV Gal (tv.zap2it.com) is just as concerned as you are about Everwood, and the situation is, in her words, "dire."
As for Gilmore Girls, I started watching around the beginning of S5, right around when the Logan romance started. And I vehemently hated him. A friend of mine kept insisting that he wasn't the one I should hate and that Rory deserved him. I didn't understand. I'm getting caught up now, and I'm starting to see just how much Rory sucks. I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Logan. Almost.
Also, Cerebus, I hope I'm not stepping on your toes (a la the Futurama incident), and I'm not sure if this should go in the TV show or DVD show thread, but while looking for the above Zap2It link, I found an article about what's going onto the My Name is Earl Season 1 DVD set (zap2it.com). Most notable, a 15 minute mini-episode that tells what would have happened had Earl not stopped on Carson Daly and instead flipped over to Family Guy's Stewie Griffin. That sounds intriguing!
I hope Everwood sticks around too, I don't know how it does in the ratings but it's pretty well liked by the critics and it's only a few seasons old. It looks like Gilmore Girls last season will be next season and I can't see Smallville going on a whole lot longer so it would be a good idea to keep Everwood around.
Count me among the many who hate Rory now. I was hoping the point of the episode where Jess can home was to knock some sense into Rory. Here is Jess, the biggest screwup in the world and he's gone out and gotten a book published. Meanwhile Rory, who has all the potential in the world, isn't doing jack. But instead it just seems Jess was there to just temporarily breakup Rory and Logan. *yawn*
On the flip side I've surprisingly enjoyed the story with Luke and his daughter. She's really cute and I like that she is the complete opposite of Luke. I'm looking forward to seeing Lorelai and April in some scenes together.
When do new episodes of Gilmore Girls return?
I'm disappointed in the Alias news. I'm fine with this being the last season and the last couple of seasons have stunk. But since they were told early on this was going to be last season I was hoping they had something good cooked up to end the series with. Now whatever they had thought up is going to have to be cut down.
2. I am buying the Earl disc the SECOND I am able. I don't care what I need to do. It's such a good show I can't believe it got made in the first place.
3. "Free Ride" has aired. Why hasn't it been cancelled yet?
Is Quentin Tarantino slated to work with the CSI franchise again? I think I read that he's going to work with the Las Vegas cast again after the success of GRAVE DANGER.
Though it wasn't mentioned, i'm going to pick up the second season of THE OFFICE the minute it's released. What an awesome show.
NCIS is a show I want to watch, but never get around to watching. It's sad, because the few episodes I've seen were really good.
