WWE has posted on WWE.com that they have broken all professional ties with Marty Jannetty

http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/mjwwe

Is this just a continuation of the Shawn Michaels vs Vince McMahon storyline, so we can be swerved at Saturday Night's Main Event or Wrestlemania XXII?

However, I've never seen WWE use this term of phrasing before, it sound a bit more serious than the usual 'parted company and wishing well with future endevours' that is normally used. Has Jannetty been involved in something backstage, or is he the first victim of the Well Being Policy? Actually, was he back under contract with WWE in the 1st place?

Meltz enigmatically said he "screw[ed] up at the wrong time."

Looks like Marty did a bad bad thing, but what that is I have no idea.

A plausible reason for cutting ties with Marty is the fact that he did not sell the seriousness of Vince McMahon's posterior. In a situation where he should appear downtrodden about the situation his life had sunk to, he was laughing at Vincent Kennedy McMahon's buttocks. That sort of unprofessionalism just can't be tolerated.

Well that sux. He might not have been the most talented guy there but he sure isn't the worst and some of those are on TV every week. I remember him in a match some months ago and he did a pretty decent job.

As for selling the seriousness of Vinces posterior lets face it, sitting that close to it with all that junk going on it would be hard for anyone to keep a straight face. However that being said I don't see that as the reason as if that was so they wouldn't have had the MasterLock thing set up ahead of time. Oh well I'm sure marty won't starve to death or anything, didn't look like hehad missed too many meals on TV...

Doesn't this make it year 2 in a row that Jannetty makes a surprise appearance, wows the masses (metaphorically speaking), leading to rumors of him signing with WWE, and then doing something untimely stupid to cost him a job??

I guess Marty should have saved that pep talk for Shawn last week for himself. Oops.

Real disappointing. I loved the Rockers, and still like the chemistry Marty and Shawn have on TV. AND Marty can still go in the ring. I wish this could've worked out for him.

I kind of feel bad for Marty. Didn't this happen a year ago? It seemed like they were going to bring him back, then all that talk sorta died. Then it happened again and now its dead again.

I doubt they'd drop him so harshly over something as dumb as him kinda looking like he was cracking up when faced with Vince's bare ass. I also think that Meltz would have stated that as the reason behind it all if that were the case. Don't feel too bad for Marty-it's very likely that he brought this on himself.

I believe that Mary's last release was the end of July, 2005. He got arrested for a DUI and missed bookings.

I wish Meltz could have been a little more specific. Is "screwing up at the wrong time" all we get?? Geez.

Today we get: "They were really mad about him screwing up this opportunity, and it was off the field behavior, not anything that took place on Monday, that caused this."

But still no word on what sort of behavior.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate irony? Somebody being fired for being unprofessional by a guy who routinely prances around with his pants down.

Still, it's a shame. I was looking forward to the ultimate pay off when Jannetty puts Michaels through a window as revenge after all these years.

I don't know if I buy this story. All indications are that Marty fucked up some how. Now he is saying this. I don't see how this would be his fault. Somewhere someone is lying.

It's possible that the 'E asked him if there would be no trouble with him travelling and he replied with "Yeah! Sure!". If thats the case then he has fucked up pretty badly.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

For those that didn't click on the link, there's more to Marty's words. This is apparently taken from his MySpace account. So it seems that, according to Marty at least, this situation may not be over. The WWE release sounded final, but who knows.

OK, for my fans, family and friends, here is the situation....Due to travel restrictions I have as part of a probation agreement, I was denied travel this week to Birmingham, Alabama for Monday Night Raw. As you could or should imagine, this is a disaster for WWE as they now have to go back and rewrite a major portion of their show in which I was to be included in, and with less than 3 days notice. The fact that this could happen again at any given time my PO decides against me traveling, is good reason for WWE to be concerned in another major disaster especially with WrestleMania coming up. Could you imagine that 2 days before that show I'm told I can NOT go to Chicago. Please understand WWE's position, and believe in them as they have not closed the window of opportunity yet. We are working hard right now on getting all travel restrictions lifted. It is a good possibility that it will happen. If you really care and are concerned, believe me when I say, prayer works and is greatly needed and appreciated right now. I'm getting tons of e-mails from friends and fans hating Vince and the WWE right now. They are not at fault!!! And, they are supporting me on this, so no more hating on them, ok?? I thank all of you for your support, cares and concerns. I love you all!!! I do have a strong gut feeling everything is going to be fine!!!!

If it really was JUST probation restrictions, the WWE could make an arrangement for him to fly out for work and then fly back. They've done it before for their guys when stuff's happened, and as long as it's strictly for work it's usually allowed. The courts WANT these guys to clean up and get their jobs back, and his involves travelling. Maybe it would take a bit and would mean that he wouldn't be on this week's show (or next week's) but that still doesn't explain WWE.com's blunt lack of 'wishing him well', unless that was all kayfabed because he refused to kiss McMahon's ass.

If Marty's words are to be believed, is it a slight bit concerning that Marty Jannetty was going to be a focal point of RAW less than a month out from Mania? Just what the world was begging for, All Vince/All The Time.
And, since when is the writing done 3 days before the broadcast? The month of January seemed to be booked on a napkin, so 3 days is a world of time.
And, if Marty Jannetty is of vital importance, they can always break out MartyDust or Eugene thinking he's Marty.
