It looks to be a decent second round, some good hockey in all four series. I think the most exciting will be San Jose and Colorado, with the Sharks looking to prove themselves among the best.
Detroit should be able to work past St. Louis, but the older legs will be getting tired as the series grinds on.
The Leafs escaped a gritty battle with the Islanders, and will be hurting as they face the trapping game of the Sens. I'm hoping the Buds continue the intense play, but the series really rests on Lalime and Joseph-so far, Lalime has shown himself to be much better.
Hard to call the Montreal-Carolina series, but everyone loves the Habs this year, so hopefully they'll pull through and we'll have a classic Toronto-Montreal battle for the Eastern conference.
I agree with The Goon. We should get some good hockey in all 4 series. With that said:
Detroit over St. Louis - The only sure thing.
San Jose over Colorado - I can't wait for this series to start. This is going to be awesome.
Toronto over Ottawa - I have no idea who to pick here. It will all rest on goaltending.
Montreal over Carolina - Sorry Carolina. Sign a top notch goaltender and you will be in the finals.
This entire thing we're involved with called the world is an opportunity to exhibit how exciting alienation can be. Life is a matter of a miracle that is collected over time by moments flabbergasted to be in each others' presence. The world is an exam, to see if we can rise into the direct experiences. Our eyesight is here as a test, to see if we can see beyond it. Matter is here as a test for our curiosity. Doubt is here as an exam for our vitality.
Detroit over St.Louis in 5 - Detroit too damn strong
Colorado over San Jose in 5 - Aves big time players will step up this round.
Montreal over Carolina in 6 - The cinderella team will advance this round.
Ottawa over Toronto in 6 - Leafs first round was so rough, I doubt T.O has anything left in the tank (but cheering for them hard)... At least there will be no booing the anthem in this series.
I don't get it, everyone loves rats. but they don't want to drink the rat's milk?
Detroit over St. Louis in 6 - St. Louis is too good of a team to go down without a fight, but go down they will.
San Jose over Colorado in 6 - Colorado was lucky to beat San Jose, and Nabokov can go save for save with Roy. San Jose's hungrier, and Sakic and Forsberg are in a scoring drought.
Carolina over Montreal in 7 - This will be hard-fought between two "Cinderella" teams, but the 'Canes have the experience advantage and that'll help in the final game.
Toronto over Ottawa in 5 - The trap didn't help Ottawa last year, and it won't help them again. Toronto's beat up, but they're on a MONSTER high after beating New York in that war of a series. Plus, Toronto should get Renberg, Cross, and maybe Yushkevich back. There's talk of Sundin coming back at some point in this series. If Ottawa loses Game 1, the boogeyman's gonna get 'em, just like last year.
Detroit in 6-St. Louis is good, but the DeadWings are just too good, and that's a shame. I'm not sure anyone can easily beat these guys.
San Jose in 7-Yes, San Jose. Colorado will be tired after going 7 qith LA, ans San Jose just keeps getting closer every year. The Sharks have something to prove, and are rested.
Montreal in 5-With the Canadians current emotional high, these guys are playing phenominal. They just work so well as a team, and I don't see Carolina coming together to face these guys.
Toronto in 6-I just have to give it to my Leafs, and beating the Isles has to make 'em feel good. Ottowa is good, but when the Leafs play, they're better.
I've got to say that this has been the freshest and most exciting Stanley Cup playoffs in years. I guess that's what happens when you have new teams getting into and advancing farther in the playoffs. It's been amazing thus far and trying to decide what game to tape is difficult.
Goaltender Grant Fuhr Forward Pat LaFontaine Wings' Owner Mike Ilitch Ottawa 67's coach Brian Kilrea ESPN.com's article originally stated that Grant was the first African-American voted to the Hall. That's quite the amazing accomplishment for a Canadian....
