So UPN and The WB are merging into one Uber-last place network. Who knows what this means for Smackdown! now? (and all our other favorite shows?) This sounds insane.
I dunno, this seems like a smart idea to me. There's a lot of crap filler between quality shows on both networks, so why not get rid of the filler, and show the entertaining programs? Of course, the big loser could be Smackdown!, as doesn't the WB have a fairly successful (well, for the WB) Friday night lineup?
It looks like Tribune is changing its stations over to the CW format, so a whole lot of UPN affiliates will be left out in the cold. Tribune owns a bunch of WB stations, including ones in New York and Philadelphia, and they also own WGN Superstation and a bunch of FOX affiliates. I wonder if they'll change the FOX affiliates over to CW in some markets.
The article I read said Smackdown will be part of the lineup, along with Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, Beauty and the Geek, Smallville, and America's Next Top Model.
The exact quote regarding Smackdown was "expected to play a role".

Tribune has actually owned the WB affiliate here in Los Angeles for YEARS, even before the WB or UPN networks showed up. Should be interresting to see what happens to our UPN affiliate now. They were pretty bush-league before they got UPN'd, and they're still pretty cheesy now. I wonder if they'll stay the same or get worse.
I delivery things for a living right now...I about wrecked when I heard this. I hope, the new CW Network, they keep Smackdown...I guess I'm going to be calling my local WB affiliate to see if they are going to stay on as part of the CW Network.
If you can't beat'em whack'em with a chair! Go ahead...take a Chance!
Come on! Boogeyman on Supernatural playing a slightly more serious version of the voodoo/witch doctor that he currently plays would be big ratings. Look out sweeps, he's comin' to getcha!

I am old enough that when I heard CW Network, I immediately thought of C.W. McCall who had the hit "Convoy" back in the day. I only recently heard an interview with Chip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller fame and learned that Davis is the guy behind both McCall and Steamroller. Now that is off track.

Then move Veronica Mars after Gilmore and move Supernatural to Monday.
And avoid the Viacom synergy that got Rock on Voyager... keep Boogeyman off of Supernatural.
Keep Veronica on Wednesdays, but move it up to 8:00! Tuesdays at 9:00 is crowded enough for me, what with House and The Amazing Race on at the same time now.
I'm sure the new network will have a style unique from what the other two currently do, but I think it would be funny to see the Smackdown superstars all hipped up and walking around in front of a black set with lights like the WB does for their shows now.
Plus, I look forward to the ads promoting a fresh Smackdown!
The thing I'm most worried about is losing Easy View Sunday. It's the only way I got to DVR Everwood, Gilmore Girls, and currently Supernatural when they were on against two other programs.
Tuesdays is a bit crowded though, so Monday could work, but I don't know if I'd feel right without GG on Tuesday.
