More crap then you can shake a stick at!

-----
Patrick Stewart, during an interview on ITV claims that the next STAR TREK film is in a fast track and will feature the TNG crew interacting with crew mambers from various STAR TREK series. Hmm...

-

Other STAR TREK news is a rumor that the next film will take place entirely inside the 'mirror unierse' allowing different characters from different TREK series to enteract with each other yet not mess up regular Trek continuity. HUH?

-

Well, it's now OFFICIAL official, thanks to Variety (variety.com) that Topher Grace will be playing the part of VENOM. Eddie Brock he AIN'T. SPIDER-MAN 3 also gets a new cast member with Bryce Dallas Howard (Ron Howard's daughter) signing on as Gwen Stacy... which is odd because in the comics, Gwen came first. She's cute though... and also extremely naked in the new Lars Von Trier film MANDERLAY.

-

HOODWINKED 2? No, HOODWINKED 3! The first one has done surprisingly better then expected, so the producers are throwing a ton of more money at the series making it a trilogy and upgrading the animation. Personally, I liked the low-tech look to it.

-

KING OF NEW YORK is getting a prequel. Abel Ferrera will be writing and directing. Christopher Walken is returning as well.

-

Tim Robbins is direction a version of 1984. He certainly has an eye and ear for the subject matter at least.

-

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are getting set for Hollywoods next 'big agenda' in CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR. This true life account of a Texas congressmen who helped arm Afghan freedom fighters back in the 1980's. These same 'freedom fighters' are what make up todays Taliban. Make of this film, what you will.

-

Model/actor Tyrese Gibson has signed on to play Luke Cage for the Marvel Comics film adaptation. BAD CHOICE, the guy's too skinny.

-

Pierce Brosnan has no lack of film work after not doing Bond any more. He's set to begin filming THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR 2 next month.

-

Tim Allen's soul STILL belongs to Disney with his starring as a 'wannabe Hell's Angel' along side John Travolta in HOGS. Set for release in the fall or early next year.

-

Let's end this with a good joke. Jennifer Lopez is signed on to star in BRIDGE AND TUNNEL as a Wall Street Stock Broker. Do I need to repeat that? Raise your hand if you spit anything out onto your key board or monitor or if you fell out of your seat laughing. This is a 'for real' film getting made people!

So why can't Topher Grace play Venom? Other than that he doesn't look like he's on steroids?

Because Eddie Brock is much older then Peter Parker and isn't a skinny, dorky looking guy like Topher Grace. Topher, while a decent actor, just doesn't have the build for the roll.

AWESOME. I was just telling my dad that I was disappointed that TNG never had a mirror universe episode. I thought it would be interesting to see the opposites of those characters. Mirror Picard? Mirror Data? Mirror Troi? Mirror Worf? Awesome.

In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. American-Arabs are a part of the fabric of America, and they should be embraced by all of us.

My thoughts exactly. I think that work much better in the film than the traditional Venom character anyway.

Whatever flavor it comes in, I can't wait to see Venom on the big screen. Another childhood dream of mine come true.

I think Topher will work out well as Venom. All he has to do is be the anti-Peter Parker. He won't be the classic Eddie Brock, and he may not even really be Ultimate Venom, but I think the screen will barely be able to contain the dorkiness of both Topher Grace and Tobey Maguire simultaneously.

As far as fitness goes, I'm sure Venom will be mostly CGI anyway, so the suit can easily excuse that.

Anyone else find it odd that they cast a red head to play the blonde Gwen Stacy and a blonde Kirsten Dunst to play the red head Mary Jane? I'm just saying, is all.

Even if you actively dislike Jennifer Lopez, how could this news drive you to spit something on your monitor or fall out of your seat?

So who is to say Grace can't play him older and can't get bigger for the role? In recent pictures taken of him, it looks like he's bulked up and gotten in great shape for the role. Just like Thomas Haden Church.

Tom Cruise is a short guy, but that never keeps him from playing TALL, imposing characters like in Collateral.

I remember how in 1989, Michael Keaton didn't have the "build" for Batman. And publications like The Wall Street Journal would write about how Keaton playing Batman was laughable and a joke.

I'm gonna have to agree with The Vile1 here. If you would've told me that Michael Keaton was going to make an outstanding Batman, I'd have asked you if you were talking about a different Michael Keaton.

I, personally, didn't think Tobey Maguire would make a good Spider-Man.

I'm perfectly willing to trust in Sam Raimi and hold off judgment on Venom until I at least SEE him.

I agree. I thought that KEaton was the worst choice for Batman but I, like everyone else, was way off. The same with Maguire. But again, wrong. I dig Tohper Grace and think he is one of the up and coming young actors and feel he can pull this off. And like Nuclear Winter, I will trust Rammi on all his Spider man decisions until proven wrong.

When Maguire was first cast in the role people said he looked too "doughy" and nerdy. Last time I checked Peter Parker was never a GQ cover model.

What the general public finds entertaining is not the bar by which art should be judged. That's not to say the "Academy" is much better, but still...
