Can't say I was all that impressed with Randy Orton on Smackdown. It's obviously too early to criticize his wrestling ability, and really, he looked pretty good in the ring. Orton did look a lot scrawnier than I was expecting, which might've been a reason why they had Stacy drooling over him to try and make up for it. I expected a bigger guy, like Lesnar, not another Eric Watts.
I was born in a manger, like that other guy. You know, he wore a hat?
He's a cruiser (ok, light heavyweight), so, yeah he's small. He's one of the few developmental guys who I hadn't seen yet, and as such his wrestling was impressive, but his camera presence, not so much. Might be nerves, so I'll give him a few weeks to settle it down.
His little standing bulldog was pretty sweet. Other than that it wasn't the best debut. But he did wrestle better than the current champion and how many guys can say that? Er.... nevermind.
Plus all he did was get his ass kicked (rightfully so) by Hardcore Holly. I'm hoping this turns into somewhat of a feud (Holly did mention "revenge" in a Jakked promo). It'll just lead to Holly jobbing again, but at least he'd continue to be on TV. As for Orton himself, it's way too early to tell, but there's gotta be a reason they called him up and I've seen much worse acting (i.e. Triple H) than Orton's performance.
And I think you're fat. So how do you like me now?
The guy is like 6'5". there is no way he's a cruiser. He actually has a good phisyque it's just not the bloated steroid freak look that the fed usually favours.

Cruiserweights are determined by (get ready) weight. Alex Wright was mighty tall and he was a cruiserweight in WCW. Same with La Parka.
Okay the guy is not a cruiser, hes not a lightweight he's just an averge 22 yeaR old athlete. Everybody always complains how "that sucked" or "i wasn't impressed", "i thought he was rookie of the year?". We only see smackdown wrestlers once a fricken week, give it time to play out. Ive read him being between 6'2 and 6'5 and also him being anywhere between 245 and 260. hes not in his 220's therefore he is HEAYWEIGHT.
Go to his website randyorton.net for his stats. Considering it his site im sure there pretty acurate.
I had a chance to see Orton wrestle Lance Storm at a house show back in March, and while he's obviously no Kurt Angle wrestling wise, I still found it to be a damn good match. Give the kid some time, and see what he has to show you. Plus he can get some INCREDIBLE air off the top rope with a cross body block. Very impressive.
There's one thing that may have a big impact on Randy getting over that no-one has commented on yet. The WWF is pushing him as a heart-throb, as someone the ladies go crazy over. From my wife's reaction and the reaction of other female wrestling fans I've talked to, that should work real well for him, better than for, say, "The Big Valbowski". If he can make women who are flipping past SD! stop and say, "Damn! He's cute, what's this program about?" and potentially get hooked on the storyline, that could be worth quite a bit to the WWF.
On a related note, how'd that happen? I've seen pictures of "Cowboy" Bob Orton, and I don't think anyone would have described him as a handsome man. I guess Randy must have gotten his looks from his mother's side...

I'm pretty sure La Parka was a heavyweight. Though with all the luchadores in WCW at the time I can see how people would get the two mixed up.
Silver King is a junior, since that's where both he and his brother (Dr Wagner) wrestle for New Japan.

I had the opposite experience. When I was at Raw, I saw Orton and Rico vs. Lesnar and Ron "H20" Waterman. It was a damn fine match...except for Orton's performance. He blew several spots while the other guys looked like they could hang with the big boys. Speaking of Waterman...you know why he hasn't been called up? He looks like Scott Steiner. They can't have two Scott Steiner's around, can they? [/speculation]
YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME!?! - The immortal, chilling words of...The Shockmaster!
I want to know what's up with Bob freakin' Holly playing the Big Show or Kane role with Orton. I mean "Just for that, your tryout match is going to be against Bob Holly?" Was he going to wrestle Harvey Wippleman before or something? Well, considering RAW has Show, Taker, and Lesnar, and Kane's out, someone had to play that role. I'm just surprised "The Big Shot" actually got treated like his old character in a serious way.
But remember Holly's being represented as such a badass on Tough Enough, so it'd really suck to have to have a match with him. Cause he'd probably beat you until you cried.... or something.
I think that was the reasoning behind it, anyway.
