The day has finally come. The day where Chris Hero, the SAVIOUR of professional wrestling comes to ROH to take what is rightfully his. The ROH world title, and then he's going to take it from that scrub, Bryan Danielson, and he's going to toss it in the trash can held by John Zandig. Why? Because he's Chris Hero. Danielson thinks he's hot stuff because he can beat up small guys and slap them around. Well let's see what happens when Danielson tries that crap on a guy of Hero's size and demeanor. Eh-eh, ain't going to fly with Hero.

To take you back here's a little history on what's been going on.

Hero basically hasn't been happy with ROH and how they never brought him on. He's been very vocal and outspoken on his dislike for ROH. ROH commissioner Jim Cornette responded with this video on the official ROH website:

mms://128.241.238.33/ROH/sJimCornetteAnnouncement_12_15_2005.wmv

Hero then responded with this online commentary entry:

I've safely returned from Europe, another birthday has come and gone and Christmas of 2005 is upon us. I have some things to discuss and what better place than the wide and webby world that is the Internet.

In 2004, I reentered Combat Zone Wrestling as the Savior. I quickly turned things around and nabbed the Ironman title with relative ease. My record breaking title reign was ended at Cage of Death 6 and 2005 opened up on a sour note. I lost to Jon Dahmer and, as you all know, it can't get much worse than that. I saw how events were unfolding and decided to take matters into my own hands. Claudio Castagnoli and I captured the CZW Tag Team titles from a supposedly "unbeatable" tandem of pure bred lunatics, Mr. Insanity and the Necro Butcher. The unbeatable were beaten. The hero saved the day and in doing so, I had made my way to the peak of the mountain, once again, and reclaimed my duties as the bona fide Savior of CZW.

Just as many wrestlers before me were intimidated by the "big and bad" reputation of the Necro Butcher, just as many individuals have been browbeaten into actually believing that the "big and bad" promotion, Ring of Honor, is the end-all and be-all of Independent wrestling. I am living, breathing, walking and talking proof that you can be a success without playing politics and without having to kiss anyone's ass in the process. Heroes don't kiss ass and heroes don't back down. I didn't back down from Necro Butcher and I will not back down from Ring of Honor.

I have done battle with the finest wrestlers ROH has to offer and I have come out on top, more often than not. Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, CM Punk: All former champions and I hold victories over all of them. You can be sure that the only reason I haven't beaten Low Ki, Xavier and Jamie Noble is because I've yet to face them. That brings us to Bryan Danielson. Now, I'm man enough to admit that he American Dragon is a superb wrestler. Perhaps even one of the best wrestlers. Unfortunately for him, Chris Hero is the best. It's a proven fact. Ask Bryan who bested him at last fall's TPI.

After my match at Cage of Death 7, I verbally brought salvation to the Combat Zone. I stood directly in front of the impending danger and destruction and I said what everyone else was afraid to say. As the Savior, I represent CZW wholly. My skills are unmatched and I know I am the best they have to offer. I am CZW's David to ROH's Goliath and my challenge is 100% firm. I have nothing to be afraid of.

Bryan, if you have the guts, you know where to find me on January 14th. And if you don't have the guts, I am fully prepared to walk through the fire to meet you and take what is rightfully mine. And once I have that title, I will bring it to the Combat Zone and demonstrate my very best Jimmy Jacobs impression. John Zandig will have the trash can ready for me.

January 14th, 2006: CZW, ROH, take your pick or pick both. Long live the Savior!

    -CH

So Chris Hero laid down the challenge. ROH was obviously not pleased. The Ring Of Honor world champion, Bryan Danielson being the condescending snob that he is, responded with this video on the ROH website:

mms://128.241.238.33/ROH/sBD_ResponseToChrisHero_12_26_05.wmv

So the challenge was accepted, and Hero was mailed an open contract for a shot at the ROH world title vs. Danielson. Hero wasn't pleased that his name was not on the contract. He responded with this entry from his online journal:

    Open contracts and the like...
What a difference a few weeks make. Who would ever think that Jim Cornette, someone of such alleged esteem, would even mention CZW by name, let alone send them an entire package? Well, he did, so you can be assured when Chris Hero is involved in something, the unthinkable can, and will happen.

What was in the package? Well, it wasn't ticking, so that was a good sign. The first thing I pulled out was an open contract for a ROH heavyweight title shot on January 14th. Said contract was already signed by, one, Bryan Danielson. Before I say whether or not I signed this open contract, let me point out how IDIOTIC of an idea it was for Bryan to allow Mr. Cornette to send this contract to CZW.

Bryan's signature is at the bottom of the document, right next to a blank slot, titled "Challenger." Hmm, I could have just went though the entire Combat Zone locker room and had anyone sign it. That's how ridiculous this is. How about Bryan Danielson versus the Necro Butcher? How about American Dragon versus Super Dragon? Imagine how many ROH fanboys would rip their hair out if Bryan accidentally got himself into a title defense against the father of CZW, John Zandig? Hell, I could have had Frank Talent sign the damn contract if I was that vindictive. I think Danielson's ego is getting in the way of rational thought. Yes, Chris Hero cast the first stone, but now, in desperation, Bryan Danielson is throwing every rock he can get his hands on without stopping and thinking to aim.

Sure, I could have let Eddie Kingston sign the contract and go on that night to wrestle for the ROH heavyweight title, but two things prevented me from doing so.

1.) I hate Eddie Kingston. Almost as much as I hate Ring of Honor.

2.) Chris Hero is the only wrestler in the Combat Zone that I am 100% sure can and will defeat Bryan Danielson on January 14th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

So, yes, I signed the contract. Somewhere pigs are flying, little internet kids are e-mailing and text messaging their friends and we will all see the debate shift from "Why hasn't Chris Hero wrestled for ROH?" to "Will Chris Hero even come back to ROH to defend his title?" I wonder how many of those threads will have to be deleted. Moving on...

The other article in the package was a video where American Dragon badmouthed CZW and Chris Hero. The video ended with a nice little touch, a montage of Danielson slapping around a variety of opponents: Christopher Daniels, Roderick Strong, Naomichi Marufuji. Well, last time I checked,I was a 6 foot, 5 inch, 230 pound professional wrestling machine. I've been everywhere, I've done everything and there's nothing that I can not do. I've beaten you before, Bryan, and this time will be no different.

You're willing to come to CZW and fight me on January 14th? When you step foot in our building I will make sure you leave a lot worse off than when you came in. Don't let your ego cause you an injury earlier in the day, it would be a shame. No sarcasm, I mean that. When I take your title, I want you at 100% so there will be no excuses. Bryan, your title is mine for the taking and you're too big of an egomaniac to even see it coming.

How poetic it'll be when the wrestler that was never good enough for Ring of Honor walks away from the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, the new and undisputed Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion.

I haven't always been the best, but now that I am the best, I plan on staying that way. See you on the 14th Danielson. It'll be nice meeting you too, Gabe.

    -CH

Its happened folks. The Judgement Day of Bryan Danielson, Ring Of Honor, and the devalued and disgusting ROH world title has finally arrived. So say your prayers and hope there are pieces of you left after the HERO and SAVIOUR of professional wrestling is through with you.

For some reason, I've never been quite as excited as a world title match or a world title change (unlikely as it is) as I am for this one.

Boy, God have mercy on your soul if you tried to drive out there like my friend and I did. I'm just getting back, because it is snowing like you wouldn't believe.

Still, going to the show was worth all the hassle of leaving the show. AJ Styles and Matt Sydal TORE DOWN THE HOUSE! I had been waiting forever to see an AJ Styles match live, and boy did he live up to my personal hype. In fact, the whole card was good.

Earlier at the CZW show, Danielson did a run-in and attacked Chris Hero. All of a sudden, ROH mainstays Austin Aries, Roderick Strong and others came out and brawled with CZW wrestlers. The heat was ungodly for this, and it overshadowed what was a lackluster CZW show.

Hero/Danielson's match later that night at ROH was good, but it had to follow AJ/Matt. They decided to stick to technical wrestling, and because of this some of the crowd lost interest some 10 minutes in. I loved it personally, and the crowd that was into it was amazingly hot. In the end, Danielson won, but Hero acquitted himself quite nicely.

All in all, it was worth the headache to get there and back to Jersey just to see an ROH show that was amazing.

You didn't attend the CZW show as well by any chance?

I'm glad to hear that AJ and Sydal had another classic. I've seen their IWA-MS matches which were awesome as well. But I wonder what Sydal being AJ's tag partner means for Sydal being in Generation Next.

I'm disappointed that Strong didn't win the FIP title, but oh well. All in all it sounds like a great show and I'll probably get it on DVD eventually.

I know the next ROH show is going to be one of the best ever with AJ vs. Danielson III this time for the world title. Also Joe vs. Daniels - 30 MINUTE IRON MAN MATCH!

Yes I did, and that's why I said that the CZW show was lackluster. The cool thing that proved this sorta "Invasion angle" worked is that usually CZW's January shows are very sparsely attended because CZW's "Wrestlemania" show is Cage of Death every December. But two nights ago, there was almost as many people there as there were for Cage of Death 7 that happened last month.

The problem with that is CZW had to rush some of their matches so that the audience could have a chance to get to NE Philly in time for the ROH show that night. The CZW show wasn't as good because of it, so the partnering up with ROH did have a snag or two. Hero definitely had the best match in the CZW show, as he and Claudio Castagnoli and Super Dragon faced off against BlkOut (Eddie Kingston, Sabian and Ruckus) in a great brawling match.

I wouldn't be suprised that the reason the CZW show had rushed matches was that the show started an hour late! We waited in line forever to be let in, and I have no idea why. They would've had plenty more time to work with had they opened the doors when they were supposed to.

Smaller arenas eh? I remember watching the WWF some 20 years ago, when they weren't shooting in those huge venues, and all the wrestling seemed alot more intimate. That quality just doesnt seem to be in the current product.
