Well...it's...interesting, to say the least.

IGN: Spidey's New Costume Revealed

It's been repeated ad naseum that Tony Stark would help design this costume and it certainly looks like he had a hand in it. And wow, does it look awful.

The over/under on the classic look coming back is one year, which is about how long the LAST new costume lasted. And while that one went on to become a classic villain, I don't hold my breath for this costume becoming anything interesting.

That has to be the most uninspired design I've seen in a long time. They took the black & white costume and made it red & gold. OK, so it probably has armor, strength enhancement, weapons, & makes a mean capuccino, but the outer design is so unoriginal that I don't even care. I don't doubt for a second that Peter will return to the original red & blue (I smell a setup. They've only done this to create a feud between Tony & Peter), but they could have come up with something original for the interim. Sheesh.

Is it just me, or does it look like a slightly recolored version of the "Spider-Man Unlimited" costume from the Fox cartoon?

Sad to say, but I kinda like it.

Maybe he'll only wear it when he's on the job as an Avenger and keep wearing the original one in his solo books.

I can totally see billionaire Tony Stark giving his New Avengers team 'corporate sponsored' costumes/uniforms.

Ugh, I hate it. It's garish and just plain ugly. Of course, I still long for the days of the black-and-white, though...

Anyway, it's kinda ironic that, with all of the changes that Marvel has seen fit to make to Spidey these last few years, Ultimate Spider-Man is now closer to the old-school original than the real deal.

This combined with the Gwen/Norman kids has really made me stop reading the Spidey books. I've been checking out "The Other" through my friend's stash, and it doesn't seem like anything remarkable. Just an excuse for excessive violence and another spidey "death." I don't understand how Marvel can let writers get away with destroying some of their most important foundations (Bucky's death, Gwen's integrity) in story arcs that don't have an equally important event as a result. It ruins the "classic" tale all for the sake of that one "shocking" or "holy shit" moment.

Bingo. Exactly what I thought...and am hoping for.

That, or they'll go with the route that Tony's back on the bottle and that design is proof of it. We'll see...

Trust me, that's nothing (NOTHING!) compared to the whole Clone Saga. It was certainly ambitious, I'll give it that.

I have to admit I was kinda hoping for this thread to show me the costume that the Superhero tailor had designed. The one kinda debut in ASM #499... Ah well, now that was a good costume...

This was actually a bad-ass look for a character, but obviously not for such an iconic character like Superman. I kind of dug the "Electric Supes" storylines, just because I think Superman with this powerset may have been even more powerful than the classic version. He was like a cross between Pulsar and Magneto.

So what the hell exactly happened in "The Other"? seeing that I don't have a comics store within 20 miles of me I can't keep up. So spidey dies, comes back and what? That costume adds more muscle? Last time spidey evolved he got bigger + the organic webs. Did he shrink this time? Also, I have the TPD where spidey fights and defeats morlun. Morlun even dies at the end. So how the hell did he become "the one villian spidey has never defeated"?

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I feel like it should be left unfinished, but on the other hand, knowing that RJ wanted someone to finish it if he couldn't and that Harriet hand-picked the guy, I'll be interested to see what Mr.
