The WWE has recently come to an agreement on a contract with Dalip "Giant" Singh. Dalip, who is a native of India, started training here in the US at the All Pro Wrestling school in CA, and went on to work for New Japan Pro Wrestling. While he was working for New Japan, he teamed several times with former WWE superstar Giant Silva.
However, many fans will recognize Singh from his part in the movie remake of "The Longest Yard" which featured Adam Sandler & Chris Rock that came out in 2005.
It is unknown at this time if Singh is signed to a normal contract or a developmental one, but we will keep you updated on the WWE's plan for their newest "giant". It would make sense for the company to send Singh down to one of their developmental branches for some additional training before calling him up to the main roster.

This could actually be pretty damn good. And THIS is the kind of signing TNA needs to start making. Most TNA guys are tiny compared to WWE wrestlers. Imagine a giant who towers over WWE guys (and is ripped, to boot) entering a TNA battle royal and being an instant threat. People watch wrestling for stuff like this.
I hardly follow international stuff, but I could swear I heard people saying he's terrible in the ring...meaning not much better than Giant Gonzales. Could be wrong though.
And isn't he significantly taller than Big Show? What's Show's appeal going to be if he's just another big guy?

The APW website (superstars.allprowrestling.com) says he's "a legit 7' 3" 408-pound monster", so he's a fair chunk taller than Show, but not as heavy, which means he's way more fit. Could be torch-passing time for the Big Show.

I just can't figure out why they keep leaving that out of the press releases!
Oh, I am sure Vince would play that up in a heartbeat. YOu think Chris Benoit's "Crippler" was an appropriate name? Here is a 7 foot 3 inch MURDERER!
Then have no one wanna wrestle him cause they think they'll get killed. That kinda ends his run right there. And he'll probably fight Stevie "Who did I piss off" Richards his first match.
And I heard that Giant Silva was better than him so take it for what it's worth.

To be fair to Singh, it was APW, not Singh himself, found liable for Ong's death. Apparently, APW asked Ong to be Singh's ragdoll during a training exercise that went horribly wrong. Here's a snippet from the law firm's website:
"Brian Ong, then 27 years old, began All Pro Wrestling Hayward's Beginner's Camp in March, 2001 and was fatally injured on May 28, 2001 as a result of being thrown to the mat twice after being asked to volunteer to "receive" a professional wrestling move (called the "flapjack") from a 7 foot, 400 pound wrestler who was being specially trained by APW to be a professional wrestler.
"The evidence showed that Brian Ong "had his bell rung", meaning having some sort of head injury and being woozy and disoriented after being thrown to the mat the first time he tried the move and was killed after being thrown the second time. The evidence also showed that APW was primarily interested in training the 7 foot wrestler who it hoped would become a big professional wrestling star."

Please. If Singh had any money, he'd have been sued right alongside Roland Alexander...but then, if Singh had any money, he could have afforded to go to a better school.

I don't think that TNA has much to gain from hiring guys just for their size, in part because it makes their other guys look that much smaller. Monty Brown, for instance, looks less impressive when you realize that Jeff Hardy is just as tall.
Here's an example -- Bobby Roode. In early Team Canada days, he was the "power man." Then along came A1, and suddenly Bobby's not that impressive anymore -- and he's been floundering for a while now because of it. Problem is, A1 doesn't bring anything else to the table -- he brings Roode down but also can't take over that position. It's subtraction by addition.
That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing Singh in WWE -- I have to admit that the freak show aspect does appeal to me. A Singh / Mark Henry tag team would be awesome. (I am serious.)

If this guy is even slightly better than Giant Gonzales (or can at least move around the ring), it could actually do Big Show some good, having a kind of Andre vs. Studd feud to keep him busy for a while. Of course, once this Singh guy leaves after like six months in the business, they'd have to give Show the "world's largest athlete" moniker again.
