yes Paul Burchill has finally hit the DEVESTATING C4, if no-one has seen it check on Velocity on WWE.com, watched it about 200 times, still in shock of it. What you think of it?
Sorry, but I just don't think it's that good of a move. I mean, the guy flips over. You actually take more damage by landing on your face/chest than the opponent who lands on his back.
It's close to that same viewing impact that RVD's moves have. Where non-hardcore-RVD-fans ask "Why does he bother flipping? Doesn't that just waste energy?" It looks good and is flashy, but I don't think that it has enough realism to win over fans like other finishers do (People's Elbow/Worm not withstanding, as those are supposed to be joke moves).
And then there's the fact that you could only ever do this move to about 10% of the roster than he works with (either because they're too big, or else because they just won't be flipped around like that due to "main event match" training).
It's certainly as "realistic" as some other implausible moves. (Trish's headstand Huracanrana comes to mind). I think it would look better if Paul could somehow come out on top of the guy he's flipping. In the GIF (which is all I watched), you could see all the help, but it was in slow mo. Lemme see Benoit take it and see what a sell really looks like on that move.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
Originally posted by Mayhem While we're on the subject of this week's Velocity, what's up with the gold masks that Kendrick & London both wore to the ring?
Whatever it is, I LIKE THEM! They seem to be borrowed from Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut." Either way, I like the outfits and entrances. I haven't been watching WWE for almost half a year, but checked this out to see Kendrick and London in action.
And by no means is that an impressive C4. It's probably the worst C4 I've seen Burchill do so far.
It's not bad, better than the usual routine set of moves we're conditioned to from WWE. But unless this guy can be allowed to put some personality behind his character, he'll just be another Petey Williams.
It's an eye-catching move that is immediately limited in the amount of people he can do that to. I don't see anyone over 220 pounds doing their part in the maneuver, and that's pretty much everyone not on Velocity. He needs a stronger finisher that can be applied to anyone.
But if I was playing a WWE videogame customized character, yeah, that'd be a finisher.

As one of the few Brits that doesn't get an instant hard-on at the mention of this guys name, I 'll say that move is the drizzling shits. Further, I would say that most true wrestling fans will share this opinion. Suspension of disbelief anyone?
Originally posted by chillIt's Paul London. Hopefully, when we see Benoit v. Burchill, it's a match that means something and not just a Smackdown filler match.
Actually, it's John Xavier taking the C4 in the gif.
The C4 might look OK if the opponent just sold it falling back as Burchill starts falling, but even then it would probably make a better escape move than a finisher. As it is now, I don't even see how it theoretically works. If we were conditioned to it being sold that way instead of the flippy sell, Burchill could even use it against bigger non-athletic guys.
Ok, that's is one of those eye catching moves. So it's a flatlinner with flip. I'm not sure if it should be such a big deal. I think looks ok as does the Canadian Destroyer. Yeah, a bit fakeish yet good.
If you can't beat'em whack'em with a chair! Go ahead...take a Chance!
I think maybe Paul could reach over and grab the back of the guy's trunks with his left hand. That would at least give a pretend reason for the victim to flip over.
On the other hand, so what? There are so many moves that are so patently fake -- starting with the Irish whip ("I can't stop running!") -- that it sometimes seems pointless to draw a line and say, "now, this is too fake!"
The Canadian Destroyer and the C4 look cool and I've never seen anything like them, which is enough for me, since I accept so much stuff that is CLEARLY cooperative as it is.
(My personal least favorite is the delayed vertical suplex. "Oh no, I'm being held upside down! I better hold my legs straight up, as rigid as I possibly can!" I just don't get it.)

Well, the idea of the standing vertical suplex is that you are upside down for a long period of time of the blood rushes to your head. When you hit the mat, you'd be all out of it I guess, so a pin attempt might be easier than after a regular suplex. Its really more of a power move for the guy doing it really. It just shows that the guy suplexing you is strong and can hold you up for a while.

Yeah -- but I meant, what makes the victim decide to hold himself straight up and not bend his legs? It's a position that's both unnatural and disadvantageous.
