Much of my senior year English class was killed playing "Shitkickers" (pronounced "Shit-Kik-ahz")
It's really just a slight variant on a game that people know as Palace, Karma, or Shithead (pagat.com).
It may have just been a right-place-right-time kind of thing, what with old friends knowing their high school days are winding down and talking enormous amounts of trash. But we loved it so.
(Our rule variants were such: Four down, four up, four card hand, jokers force the next player to pick up the discard pile and lose a turn)
Since nobody plays that though, Hold em is as good a game as any.
Texas Hold Em. No Limit is where the drama and excitement is. I like limit, but it's a bit like watching paint dry.
7 Card Stud. The game where you fold EVERYTHING!
Omaha HI/Low. Half Hold Em/Half Razz.
If you want to find me, I'm on Fulltiltpoker.net as JKyle.
Non poker favorites are: Chez Geek (Where the object is to outgeek your roomies) MagBlasy (Just try and find it if you don't know. There's no other way to explain) and Trumps.
Since I started watching Texas Hold Em, that is all I play. I play it sometimes at poker.com and at partypoker.net (MysteryMatt is my name at both places), and a group of us Target workers will go down to a diner most mornings after work and play Hold Em until the food gets delivered.
And to Geemoney, I enjoy Phase 10 a great deal. I seem to get beat at it quite a bit though as well.
I have been playing Mille Bornes since I was a kid.
Big Show: Why is he getting the Intercontinental Title shot and not me? RVD: Ahhh...maybe 'cause you're a tool. Big Show: Look. I am 7'2". I am 500 pounds. I'm a giant. RVD: Oh ok. You're a giant tool.
Yeah, Texas Hold-Em for me too. No Limit and Omaha (RecklessEric at PokerStars, FullTilt, and PartyPoker.) I like Cribbage, Spades, Hearts, and Magic:The Gathering (on and off)
I play the unofficial card game of Wisconsin, Sheepshead. Otherwise I've enjoy hold-em, but I've only played it in home games.
In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. American-Arabs are a part of the fabric of America, and they should be embraced by all of us.
I like Black Jack and Texas Hold 'Em, but my favorite card game is 45's.
Most of you probably haven't heard of it, as it is a regional game from where I live (Merrimack Valley section of MA and Southern NH). Supposedly, it was brought down by immigrants from the atlantic provinces of Canada (maybe some canadian wieners might know of it?).
Here is a website dedicated to it. It is a site that sells a computerized version of the game, but it also has a section that explains the rules.
Hearts and Gin Rummy. Gin is great because you can play for money or for fun; and unlike rummy, you don't need to pile cards all over the place. It's very nicely portable. But I love hearts. Unlike spades, there's no damn partner getting in the way. There's no need to cooperate at all. Instead, you can sit down to a devoted strategy of giving the Queen of Spades to whomever has the lowest points, during every hand. And then laughing, with relish.
Also, I tend to shoot the moon a lot. And when I fail; ah, screw it... back to handing out the Queen of Spades to everyone else until I bring their scored up toward mine.
I echo the sentiment about non-cards cards. I play Yu-gi-oh from time to time.
As for conventenial cards games, I love me Crib!
To celebrate the upcoming Troll Amnesty (and for otherwise no reason at all), I present to you the very best of Trolling here on The W. This Troll Moment of the Week is brought to you by;
ChrisJo, who brought us such pieces as wisdom as: "What does that have 2 do with anything? U want proper spelling, read a book. All I want is for someone to actually express some sort of opinion about this subject. I thought this was a WRESTLING forum."
Used to play a lot of Guts in high school. Now that is probably the easiest way to lose a lot of money playing cards in a night. And people cheated like crazy on top of it.
As far as card games that don't use the standard deck of 52, I've always found Fluxx (which uses its own self-contained deck) to be incredibly fun, and I've always wanted to try another game from the same company, Chrononauts.
I like to play Blackjack, Uno (particularly at my grandparents' house-- my grandmother is hilarious playing this game), and Bullshit (which we call "I Doubt It" at Nee-Nee and Pop-Pop's, and we used to call it "B.S." in middle school).
After about eight straight hours of Texas Hold'em on Christmas Day, my brother-in-law introduced us to Anaconda. I'm sure there will be many an hour (and dollar) burned away playing that in the future.
"You know what you need? Some new quotes in your sig. Yeah, I said it." -- DJFrostyFreeze
Just played "Apples to Apples" yesterday. I'm considering a career choice when I can convince someone to pick my term best suited for "misunderstood": it was "Fidel Castro."
