Dark Matches/Velocity
Sylvain def Springfield jobber

Doug Basham def Worcester jobber

Jamie Knoble def Boston jobber

William Regal def. Scotty 2 Hotty with help from Paul Burchill (crowd was
nuts for Scotty, don't know why)

Orlando Jordan def. Funaki
Brian Kendrick and Paul London def. two jobbers

Simon Dean promo mid-ring, insults Springfield crowd, talks about how he
hates XMas, bah humbug.

-Sorry I didn't catch the names of these guys, as Tony Chimmel was tough to
hear over the hot crowd early on.

Smackdown
The Boogeyman def. Nunzio (w/ Vito) in a major squash

Randy Orton is shown back stage, talking to his father, Bob Orton, who
recommends that he see a shrink. Orton obliges, and is next shown laying on
a couch talking to the shrink, an older man with a beard. The shrink asks
Randy what he's got to prove and that this 'Hell in a Cell' is a matter of
life and death. Randy thinks about what the shrink said.

Batista is shown backstage, and Melina enters and begins rubbing his
shoulder and chest. She kisses him, and Batista grabs her on his lap, as she
grinds him, and they make out as the screen fades to black.

Screen comes back and Melinda is shown fixing her hair, insinuating that
Batista tapped that ass, and says something to the effect of asking Batista
if the match with him and Rey tonight against her MNM is off. He laughs and
tells her he's going to 'kill those guys.'

Kid Kash def. Super Crazy with brainbuster. After the match, Kash attempts
another brainbuster on a chair, but Juventud and Psychosis save Crazy.

Batista and Rey Mysterio def. MNM to win the tag team titles. Rey played the
victim the entire match, made the hot tag to Batista, who finished off I
belive Johnny Nitro for the win.

Bobby Lashley def. Paul Burchill in a squash.

Randy Orton is shown backstage talking to his father, and tells him that he
has made a decision and will share it with the crowd later tonight.

Matt Hardy promo backstage with black lady interviewer, and is interrupted
by JBL, who punches Hardy. After JBL begins talking, Hardy attacks JBL and
they brawl on the ground before its broken up by officials

Hardy and JBL is shown on the screen announced for Armageddon.

The Dicks def. LOD when Heidenrech was pinned with a top rop legdrop.

JBL comes out to do commentary for the Matt Hardy/Booker T match.

Booker T def. Matt Hardy after JBL gave Hardy a clothesline from hell on the
outside when Sharmell distracted the ref. (Sharmell came out with a broom,
signifying the sweep on Benoit. Note, there was NO mention of Benoit on the
show. Very pissed off about that).

Randy Orton comes out and announces his retirement. He says that he has
killed many legends, and has since realized that nobody can kill the legend
of the Undertaker. He says that he is going to kill another legend tonight,
his own. Cue Undertaker music. Druids come out, followed by the Taker. Crowd
went NUTS live. Taker walks into the ring, druids leave, except for one, who
holds up an urn. Taker looks towards Druid, while Orton blindsides Taker and
kicks him in the balls. Orton attacks Taker with an RKO, yet Taker gets up.
Orton grabs a chair and destroys Taker, yet he gets up once again. The druid
takes off the hood and its Bob Orton. Randy grabs the urn from his daddy and
nails Taker, who this time does not get up. Randy grabs the microphone and
tells Taker he'll see him this Sunday at Armageddon. End of show.

Afterwards, Taker just got up to his music and slowly walked back as Chimmel
thanked us for coming.

------

I think I wanna watch this just for 'kill those guys' line. It's about time a babyface took the booty when offered.

So..... does that mean no Mexicools/MNM match? Or is it now a fatal 4 way for the tag titles?

And is anyone getting the feeling that Rey turns on Batista?

Imagine being Houston GM Carroll Dawson right now? Not only did he get fleeced in the Rafer Alston-Mike James trade, he got fleeced by Rob Babcock. Shouldn't you automatically resign when that happens? How can you show up at work every day? That's like being a professional poker player and losing a celebrity tournament to Gary Busey.

Whenever someone holds a singles title and a tag title, this scenario usually leads to a misunderstanding that results in the loss of the tag straps and then a feud over the singles belt. I don't know if a turn is necessary, but someone's sure to get accidentally hit by their partner.

They brought back Knoble?

There was no need to put the tag titles on Rety and Batista, just when the division was starting to grow some legs again. What a dumbass booking decision.

I just can't see Rey turning on Batista. Rey is the underdog face. What would turning on 300-plus lb. Batista prove? With that being said, it will probably happen.

So the Mexicools vs. MNM match is now for what, nothing. Sure it'll be a good match, but now you have really no title matches on the show (with the exception of the best-of-7 U.S. title series & unless they add Kid Kash vs. Juvi).

whatever

The only reason I can think of as to why they did this was to have "champs vs. champs" at the PPV with Rey/Batista vs. Kane/Big Show.

Also, I remember seeing that Knoble came back a little bit ago.

They brought back Knoble around the same time they brought back Brian Kendrick. Knoble had some ROH dates to complete, though, and after that he had a match or 2 in OVW.

Hopefully his match ends up on Velocity.

Really, they should bring Knoble up to the main roster and have him start whuppin' on Juvy at the first opportunity. Hell, fix him up with a lady OVW graduate, he can get back into an approximation of the groove he and Nidia found together. He's the strong heel the cruiserweight division needs, both in the ring and on the stick.

An earlier Velocity suggested Kash working with MNM, which is just about as perfect a teaming as one could imagine these days.

I'm really intrigued by this title switch. I think it's far less likely that Rey turns on Batista since I think the Smackdown team basically has to win the match (it's a Smackdown PPV and since Orton will likely win the HitC, a major face has to be victorious). Could WWE be planning to answer the lack of teams on Raw by making the tag titles Smackdown-only? It would seem that way, given how Raw has the Heartthrobs as the only full-time team (I'm presuming Cade and Murdoch stay broken up, and Tomko and Snitsky go back to massaging each other on their own time).

Well there goes the Mexicools tag title shot, so WWE could do another pointless tag title switch on the mis-matched tag team.

Benoit's absence is puzzling. But after that brutal neck bump he took a couple weeks ago he could use some time off. Its strange though. Is WWE phasing him out like they did Christian?

WWE didn't phase Christian out at all. He was on every show up until his departure, they even put him on the Taboo Tuesday ballot.

You're right, the only reason for the title switch is to set up the "champ v champ" match. The idea is that if Rey & Batista win, that frees up Big Show for his feud with Hunter at NYR. Pretty cheap booking if ya ask me. Stephanie must be watching the Secrets Of The Ring w/ Dusty Rhodes dvd.

Champ vs. Champ is what they were talking about on the website (not really advertising it, but still saying if Batista/Rey won then the Raw/Smackdown tag match would be the two best teams from each show) but they never mentioned the possibility of it being title for title.

I guess there's no way of knowing until Saturday on their webpage if they'll do title for title, but I would hope that even as screwed up as they are at booking lately (3 years) that they would hold off on something like that to have some actual build-up.

Champ vs. Champ is one of those things that they book once in a while because it's supposed to make the match seem more important, but never does. Personally, I think they just weakened the hell out of the (already weak) PPV by having an exsentially useless tag match now between MNM and the Mexicools, unless Batista and Rey lose the belts back sometime this weekend at a house show or something (yeah right!)

Christian was pretty much a jobber by the time he left. They phased out the peeps show as well.

But then Christian was pretty much a jobber when he was getting a push on Raw. I'm fairly certain WWE didn't know he was leaving all that far in advance so I don't think there was any effort on their part to job him out before he left.
