Sometime in the next hour or two, this server will be moved about ten feet and re-addressed. You will experience a brief outage while your name server caches the old address which will hopefully only last five minutes, but could be several hours depending on how goofy your setup is. In that case, go get some fresh air. ;-)
Sometime a bit LATER today, I'll be pulling the slashwrestling.com/CRZ.net/many other names server out of Santa Clara and moving it over to right next to the W box - the outage will be a bit longer, but the DNS will probably have caught up by the time I fire 'er back up.
The SmackDown! report is about 2/3 done and will probably show up sometime this afternoon, after all the dust has settled.
From what I understand, the machine moved from one cabinet to another... which put it on a different segment of the network. This made the IP address change.
CRZ.net / Slashwrestling.com / hammered.com all live on a different box which now lives next to the one that all of this runs off of. It also had to get an IP change.
DNS translates a name (slashwrestling.com) to an ip (10.0.0.1). If you change the IP of the server (10.0.0.2) you have to point the DNS record (slashwrestling.com > 10.0.0.2) to the new IP.
These records have a TTL (Time To Live) attached to them. This keeps your ISP from having to query the name servers (place where the DNS records live) every time you go to a site. Depending on when the cache for your ISP updated, and the TTL (it could be up to 24 hours) you could have problems getting to a site.
So. Some people have slashwrestling pointing to the old IP still, so they can't get in. This should all clear up in the next day or so.
